It is, indeed. I don't if it is legal where you are, but this has been a life-saver for me, as I am very introverted as well, and have not dated at all after my divorce a few years ago. The pay-for-play route of verboten where I live, so I take a few trips to places where it is legal. Not cheap, but I need to hold on to my sanity, and try to make the most of it during my trips. Feel for you, buddy!

100% right, lol!

Yes, but the practice isn't legal in the US, unlike some European/Asian countries, Australia/NZ, which makes the experience stressful.

Hello Mate! You and I think incredibly alike! I have been divorced for a couple of years now, and I have not ventured to date, either in person or online, precisely for the reason you've stated: the enormous advantage women have over men in that arena. They can cherry pick what they want, and toss the rest out. In my world, I would rather do that myself! Not going to even risk being on the receiving end of that game, at all, ever! So I do pay for play as well; take a couple of trips a year to Eu…

Right, you cannot "force", of course. I'm assuming you have moved out of the marital residence, then. I don't know the details of your case, so not sure if moving back in is an option or not, but this is precisely why I stayed in the marital home before a custody agreement was signed, as I was certain that she'd pull this kind of crap on me. It was hell, no doubt, and the stress was unbearable , but at least I was able to see my kid. Even then, my ex tried all sorts of tactics to pull our kid aw…

^^^ This. Sound advice.

She repeatedly denies my requests to see the kids. Did you share this with your lawyer? I'd ask your lawyer whether this can be brought up during the hearing, because this would be a strike against her. Also, are you making the requests in writing, such as texts/emails? This way, you'd be able to document that your stbx is withholding interaction with your kids, which would be viewed in negative light during the hearing. I've been there. Edited for typo.

You haven't said what your line of work is. Do you find it interesting? Are you passionate about it? My work is my passion and hobby, so I barely ever feel lonely. Wish you well!

Hoping you don't reconnect with your STBX, never a good idea, IMO. Good luck, man!

Not trying to fly anybody down, but was always curious as to what motivates divorced guys to date after being in a terrible condition (the marriage you left) for a while. Is it just loneliness? The lack of sex? May be I am just weird for having no desire to date a woman...

Teach the kiddos what a healthy relationship looks like. I'm actually not sure I can emulate a healthy romantic relationship because I am single, and plan on staying so. I do teach my kid to act based on logic and data, when available, which hopefully generalizes to various relation types, including professional ones. On second thought, not certain that acting based logic and data really does any good in romantic relationships at all, but it is the right thing to do, IMO. Edited for content.

The woman is truly mentally unwell but she is proud of it I wonder if she's going through menopause, because I've heard that some of them go bonkers around that time. Nothing can excuse this sort of behavior, though. Glad you're out of it, but feel sorry for the kid who must endure this crap for years to come.

How hard is it for you to obtain sole custody? From the use of speed unit (metric), I'm guessing you do not live in the US? This sh!t sounds nightmarish!

I actually did it for the kiddo. The "family" environment was so toxic that my heart used to break for my kid, who wanted nothing but everyone to be happy. I am glad I did it, and firmly believe that I should have done it a few years earlier.

It is, indeed! But in this puritanical nation, I doubt that full outsourcing (if you catch my drift) will happen in our lifetime.

Yes, plus the gender dynamics in the US (assuming that's where you live) is very toxic at this time. The unpleasantness is simply not worth it.

I am of the exact same mindset, having been divorced for a couple of years now, after a near-decade-long marriage. It was so so bad that I do not even want to entertain the idea of another relationship, which will eventually turn messy and unbearable in due course. I have my kid (pre-teen), whom I have about 1/2 the time, and am focused on being the greatest dad. Plus, I have my work, which is very engaging. Like you, I am determined not to give up my free time for some entitled and childish wom…

But before even that, how do you even meet someone that wants to be a FWB? And then ask them to be one? The gender dynamics in the US is so toxic at the moment, that I mostly avoid anything beyond the most perfunctory conversation with the opposite sex.

Curious as to your age range? I am also divorced, mid-40's, and would also like a FWB type of a situation, but these seem more like an urban legend to me. To be honest, I have never tried to get into one, and make no effort to date at all, so I just take care of my needs my taking "less circuitous" routes, lol.

Hello gents! I have also been divorced for more than 2 years now, and do check this sub and some other related ones (AskMen, say). One recurring theme I keep encountering is us men wanting to get back into dating *in spite of* there being so much information out there regarding the horrors of online dating as a man. This is confirmed by the OP's observation on the time consuming aspect of of OLD. Having absorbed this information, I, for example, have not even bothered to dip my toes in online (o…

Did you guys draw up this agreement yourselves, or did you have a lawyer on your side?

This seems ridiculously high for that salary. Is your ex an SAHM?

But remember that she can go back to court ask to increase the child support amount once the alimony ends. Ending of the alimony could count as "significant change of circumstances", thus likely warranting a second look at the child support amount. Perhaps OP is already aware of this.

Personally, my life got better literally the day after I moved out. Made sure to have the custody agreement in place first, of course. The last few years have been nothing but bliss!! I hope you heal, too! Disclaimer: I am the one that wanted out and filed for divorce, so my case have been a bit different from yours.
