I live in a small town with a big lake life. My all-time favorite response this time of year is “No worries! I need to put some runtime on my boat this afternoon [or insert time of cancelled date here] anyway. Maybe catch you next time!” Then go silent. The responses i have received to that comment have bordered pathetic. And something to remember about that boat (Besides the fact that they are money pits)…..they don’t want you for the boat. They want you for what/who they think the boat can get…

Why do you have to be married for another 2 months?

“Covert savage.” I’m putting this one in my vocabulary. Thank you.

God does not ruin marriages -or at least not the God I know. But organized social cults disguised in the name of denominational religion, they do enjoy a good marriage-turned-witch-trial………

Thank you for investing your time in such an overlooked, yet important, thing.

Bruh….don’t take this the wrong way. But statistics are statistics for a reason. The “Happy couples with kids” you see today are most likely, in some stage or another, tomorrow’s other 50%. Just sayin….. it’s a cancer in america. It has broken and ruined so much. And in true american fashion, we are leading the world in it. It’s time for a change. One of the best things you can do for your psyche and for yourself esteem at this stage is to discover your purpose, and to know that you are making a…

Let me add to this, if I may….. this is excellent advice, especially with you being a jack of all trades type. Just be sure to find a really good accountant who can explain to you beyond tax law, and into “child support calculation” law. Depending on your state, and your accountant/lawyer combo, this could really work out well for you. Keep your chin up. Seek support in all the right places. Keep climbing. It will be worth it. And keep a smile on your face. Don’t give up….brotherrrrr. And reach …

I’m sure there’s someone in this group who already has more thorough insight on this than myself, but wouldn’t this be good evidence to put in the file for infidelity? It seems that it carries less weight in court nowadays than it ever has, but there are still some outposts of judges who still get very upset to see this kind of thing happening.

Non-profit. I dont guess it’s technically a charity. But it’s also not intended to take peoples’ money and leave them just as empty as when they started.

I have a friend who started a np. How would you feel about tomorrow if you knew you could pick up the phone and call someone (not your attorney) to discuss tomorrow and the events to expect? Would it make you feel a little more at ease? This is part of their mission. I think it may grow to be a good thing. But, regardless, GOOD LUCK TOMORROW! My prayers are with you!!

I second this. Changing the last name will show voluntary severance from the crappy lineage, so as not to create a generational curse. Start over. With your own family name, and new image. The father is obviously not the kind of person a man would be proud to call “dad.” Blow the top on it. Make it so embarrassing for everyone else that nobody even makes an attempt to embarrass you. But prepare for your father’s side of the family to come up with excuses for his actions. I have seen it play out …

They are setting up the playing field to ensure that you will never win, and you will always lose. This is just step one to you losing it all: The kid, all of your money, etc….trying to recover just what should legally be yours to begin with, such as just being able to see your child. The best thing you can do is devise a plan, take solid advice from people who know and have been through same or similar -before you take advice from an attorney. And keep in mind that she is the one who has the pro…

“Rough sleeping?” What does that even mean? Perhaps this petition could use a bit of editing to be more descriptive and/or convincing on that particular line? Regardless, I would sign it if i lived in the UK. While I thank God every day that I live in the USA, the UK is leaps and bounds ahead of us in researching parental alienation, the parenting dynamic skewed against men, and pushing for men’s rights overall. And for that, I commend you. Stay in the fight. Keep the faith.

“When someone asks for an open relationship, your relationship is over. They have already been emotionally cheating and want your permission to physically cheat.” Please keep preaching this. True words.

Good writing. But WHAT IF there were resources out there to complement the soon-to-be or already-existing attorney? Would people use them? I am, and have been for nearly 5 years now, in a similar situation as OP. And the number 1 thing I have needed the most is a coach. A good coach probably would have done more good for me than all of the attorneys combined. Again, I appreciate your response.

I would love to hear more about how you pulled this off. Pm is fine if you prefer. Congratulations, btw. Your story will give hope to many.

Are there resources besides social media to help men in (and out of) situations like this? Perhaps a professional service such as a very well skilled and diplomatic counselor, life coach type? Or is that even a thing? Most lawyers, if they even give any good advice, do so between 8-5 M-F (and at $250-$350-$450/Hour). Surely there are many on here who know that the problems typically peak after normal business hours…. What workarounds are there for that? I am all ears.

“But whenever they’re going through a tough time, all of their friends are there to tell them how great and wonderful they are.” While I wholeheartedly agree with the entirety of your post, I do have to say that men are guilty of not doing this often enough. We have to do better about supprting each other. This group is a wonderful start.

Why do you say this “smart enough not to take your side” portion? Not bashing you, but simply intrigued and wanting to learn. After all, he has presented in his story to be a minority (If said story takes place in USA), so that alone should carry some “unofficial” weight for him in his workplace. This is interesting.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I can certainly speak for myself. It’s not that I/we are looking for women in the wrong places. A woman (or PERSON/PARTNER in general) like you is hard to come by. Consider yourself a unicorn, a member in a herd of unicorns. Not always, but typically, like people attract like people. People who like to fish, for example, they spend time around other people who like to fish. People who read books go to book clubs with people who read books. Again, not ALWAYS, but t…

I had a desk job in college where the manager of the location literally told me “Whenever we have a man on shift, it is his job to take the trash from the building to the can at the street.” It was approximately 20-gallon bags of shredded paper. Every woman there weighed more than me, was built bigger than me, and claimed no physical disabilities.
