I agree with you, however I find it kind of inevitable for any type of movement that strive for changes. Good and bad ones too. Radicals are needed to move the overtone window (what is deemed acceptable by society), but that doesn't make them necessarely correct

I don't agree with the point of feminisms being more religious than christianity, and given the amount of blood christians have on their hands I think it's easily disprovable. Other than that, I agree with you, but that doesn't really disproves my points. If anything, it's exactly what I say in point (1). Feminism, like any other man made social/political and economic movement, doesn't have one true clear definition written in stone somewhere, but it's rather a mix of ideas of different thinkers…

There's no use in separating the people from the theory Reading most of the responses here I think this is the core point I end up disagreeing with people on. I don't want to get too philosophical, but I think that the use in separating the theory from the application is to have kind of a "pure" north star, which then should orient our actions. To me that's not too different from other moral principles like being good, being respectful, not being racist etc etc. Any person has a slightly differe…

But there’s a real danger when discussions become driven primarily by resentment. Yeah I think this summarize the entire problem from both sides. When the discussion instead of being open becomes a race to decide who's been hurt more, it's inevitable to slip into tribalism and ending up reinforcing the original problem. And this is true both for critics of feminism and for feminists themselves

I absolutely agree, but this is true for any ideology. A person who doesn't want to educate themselves will not do that in any context. MRAs is not immune from that either

That's also reasonable, and it's the same argument I used with my sister last week. A movement that claims to be based on empathy should be the first to give example of such empathy.

I wasn't familiar with the model, which seems to be mostly related to US law. I'll take a closer look on it and form an opinion

I argue with both tho, some disagree, many I agree. I argue with feminists IRL mostly since I know many on them, whilst I don't know any male right advocate. The times I try to argue with feminists on instagram is usually a shit show, but there it's very difficult to distinguish if the problem is what the platform is giving me since giving me ignorant user prompts my engagement

> And what about men who aren't built with the average upper level strength that is cited by sources constantly by you and feminism? Scrawny men with little to no muscle tone? Such case should be considered differently from a case where the man can defend itself yes. "abuse is abuse". I can agree with this on a moral judgment base, reality is much more complex and full of nuances. If then those nuances should creep into the justice system I certainly haven't enough law training to say. There are…

I agree that violation of consent is what should define rape. In the same way ending one's life is murder. But almost any country has different classification of murder, based on intent or other external factors. I don't see a problem in applying the same logic on rape too. No a lot of people would say that an impulsive murder is less morally wrong that a premeditate one, nonetheless we have a way to distinguish them. Talking about how to classify and distinguish the different case shouldn't be …

Where do I even state that one is less harmful than the other? I'm saying they're fundamentally different.

Thanks for sharing your perspective, which I can totally understand. I might live in a bubble then, as most of the people (female feminists) I talk deeply enough about this, agree pretty much on all points of critique that I bring about the movement. If I had to base my idea of feminists on my instagram feed tho I would totally say that I live in a bubble of people genuinely interested in men's perspective too tho

> You really think that men occupying positions of power in government means that even homeless men hold most of that power socially? That'll it'll trickle down, "Reganomics" style? At what point I've ever said that? Most of position of power are held my men, it follows that most power is held by men. Not held by ALL men. I don't like when people put words in my mouth which I never said

I totally agree with you on this tho. Many feminists are well aware of "feminist rage" but seems incapable of understanding that emotional impact happens to men too. And that's a pretty big failure given that one of the belief of the movement is that men should be in touch with their feelings. At the same time, I think that a lot of feminists do what I see a lot of people do on this sub. Discarding the movement (example, redpill/incel) because some of the members are actually shitty people. It's…

As a victim of SA myself I do know very clearly that there is where the movement is at it's weakest in being true on its mandate. That to me is not a big enough justification to throw it entirely out of the window tho. In Italy in particular we had a pretty big case of a man calling multiple anti domestic violence centre and being rejected just because he was a man

> Today, I'd argue that a lot of the younger generations view Christianity as something synonymous with being a bad person And parallel to what happens in feminism, to me that's a failure on Christians to ostracize with sufficient decisiveness the bad Christians roles and actions in the past

I would examine it more closely, as I think that true evil is quite rare in humans, and so I can totally see the need for security that would (mis)guide people adhering to the movement. But then I wouldn't adhere to it since the movement tries to achieve said security through a systematic oppression / persecution of non white humans, which is something I don't agree with. The feminist theory however isn't "we want woman to be more secure" and as a consequences oppresses men. If you believe so, I…

I completely agree with you. But at the same time I think we should all strive for the highest possible idea of good that we can, and that sometimes means giving the benefit of the doubt to people that wouldn't give it to me. I try to be the change I want to see in the world.

>Patriarchy theory being the idea that for the past 10,000 years the majority of men have conspired amongst themselves to organize the oppression of women as a group for the benefit of men as a group. That is not what patriarchy means at all. Patriarchy only means that in the social system most of the power is held by men, which is still currently true. There is no conspiracy about it, even tho the current US administration for example would be a perfect point against this actually.

> you dont even apply this standard to your detractors Don't I? I joined this subreddit because I think men are too ignored, I saw a ton of misogynist comments and talking point, and never once I've thought that they are bad men or that the whole subreddit is crap. I've considered them human that (probably) want a better life for everyone, but that are rightfully hurt by how the supposedly egalitarian movement is treating them. What I did instead is tried to have an open discussion in what I thi…

I was victim of SA by my girlfriend, so I know very well what's the impact and trauma I'm paying on it. This however doesn't change the fact that the SA that I lived through is fundemntally different from the one a woman could live. At any point I could have decided to stop the thing, having the physical strength for it, which is an option that a woman most of the time doesn't have while being raped. That's what makes it different. Does this mean that I consider a man raped "less rape"? Absolute…

Thanks for taking the time to read all my post and answer. There are a lot of points which I agree with you: that men are low on the priority list of most feminists, that feminists often don't shine a light on the good feminists and that feminists often talk about men as a group more than as an individuals. That's the reason why I criticize the movement too, and I'm not saying it shouldn't be. Now to the point where I disagree with you. As I consider the emotions of resentful women (point 4), I …

In point 4 I clearly talk about resentment, so I clearly see it, and we can all clearly see it in practice. And in my post (still at point 4) I clearly state how it shouldn't be a justification to hate either. Does this mean to me that the entire idea of feminism should be disregarded? No

That is actually a great question, that I've asked myself many times. I think there is a lot of value in having ideas and beliefs that we can discuss separated from their relative implementations. That's the entire argument of my post. We do that all the time in science too, especially in physics, where I'm sure you heard phrases like "let's consider a cylinder with uncompressable air" or "let's ignore friction forces..". Human nature is very imperfect and chaotic, and human psychology even more…

I'm going through the sources one by one, and I'm finding very difficult to find something that is not explained by one of my four points tho. If anything, the strongest argument of all is at the end of the post "important feminists never criticize or condemn feminist hate against men" with which I completely agree. I've been very vocal in my circle (of female feminists by the way) about feminists using the label to justify their man hate, and never once I've been treated with condescension. Tha…

> However, if were talking about defining the main problem, that would be whoever causes real harm, not whoever indirectly prevents (or could prevent) that harm from being reversed. The main question asked by OP is who's a bigger threat to male advocacy, not who's a bigger threat to men. Did you see what happened to the incels? It was a space to share the pain of wanting a partner and being unable to find one, and it turned in a woman hating cesspool that made basically a social death sentence f…

This comment was good until it became unnecessarely hateful towards women. Do you think that having your life wrecked by was, being force to move, in a country where you don't speak the language and where some people don't want you it's "having a time of their life"? It's for sure better than dying, and it's unjust, but portraying ukranian women as being on vacation while men are dying is unrealistic and a bad faith argument.

Just recognize that it's not about the movement, it's about the person. A misandrist will always find a way to be misandrist, and hiding behind the name feminism doesn't make it that person a feminist. Educating yourself is ALWAYS good. It's good for yourself, for the people you care about, and for democracy in general, and the more you educate yourself about the movement, the more you will recognize who's talking understanding what they're saying, and who's talking just parroting some point the…

Redpill is always misogynistic, because it’s based on reinforcing the status quo of gender roles. And the reason why it actually works it’s because a lot of women are misogynistic too even if they don’t realize it. It’s called internalized misogyny. Feminist theory has talked about this for ages, and yes, a lot of women call themselves feminists while actually never having studied anything about it

The manosphere might affect a minority. The problem is that is such a loud minority that it ends up drowning legitimate good male advocacy made by other people, so in my opinion is much worse. Also, no country has laws actually discriminating the men against women. Child support law is the closest examples, but there are legitimate good reason supported by developmental psychology for why the mother is usually preferred

One group copes better than the other. Which is exactly the point of Galloway, so what's your point? What does this have to do with the countless women who engage with said content? Because it's a small minority of women that actually enjoy men's suffering and try to justify it. The majority of women are just normal gals that if you talk to them about your own struggle would never in their right mind think "not lonely enough". And if you genuinely think it's a big problem, I say stay away from s…

Something that has annoyed me about Professor Scott Galloway is pushing this rhetoric and notion that women are completely fine being single, while men will go on to rot and deteriorate if they don't have relationships. It’s not a rethoric, we can see it in the suicide rates of both, and in the marriage satisfaction reports. If you care about men the first step is admitting our issues If women were perfectly content being single, they would not be posting online sharing all their intimate feelin…
