Thanks- I missed that part. The article didn’t mention anything.

A lot of people on this group say that anytime someone says they are a feminist but is also reasonable and does not hate men.

What do you mean you gave him parental leave?

I think there would be a use for this and people would. We had a very expensive but fantastic lawyer and there was still a ton of work we did and continue to do outside of that. I personally would pay her (or a pack etc) for all of the extra stuff that we do (it’s not an issue of payment). A second set of eyes (third, forth, fifth) or even a person just coming at any situation from another view, can/will see things that may others may have been missing.

It sounds like a financial decision you and your partner made overall. Would you have done the same in terms of not combing finances if there had not been children involved do you think ?

I would recommend reading the comments in the threads posted since you posted this question- they are just as bad as the groups that people supposedly despise. The only difference is that at least the crazies in the other sites are able to see and admit that they “hate men”. I want to be upfront and call out the fact that I am a woman. I realize that some folks do not want women here or commenting and others are OK with it. Regardless, I want to ensure I am not misrepresenting myself.

So to be clear, he did get empathy from most of the women responding but not from a handful?

If it’s the subreddit I am in, I saw it and there was the outrage was that the story couldn’t/didn’t stand alone- it was being posted as “looks more LGBTQ violence”. Or “look more women doing X”. It’s beyond fucked up, abhorrent, and whoever made the comment that some mad must have pushed them do it is either intentionally trolling or completely nuts. Sounds like it’s been all over the threads though so it could have been many.

I took over the financials bc he didn’t want to deal with them (had nothing to do with my making more money in our case). It is just fairly time consuming at times.

Just a an example from another post today- there is a comment that for women, a relationship is all about resource accumulation. So while it may not say “i hate all women” comments like this are pretty outrageous.

I’m also confused by this. Who cares who submits the payments and keeps the books? That does not equate to the men paying more. If it’s all out of the same account anyway, then why would it matter?

Woman here- thanks for that. I feel like I am crashing someone else’s party or safe space sometimes. I have had some really constructive and interesting responses to honest questions I have asked which has been eye opening.

No, but instead of women it’s “all feminists” “most women”.

This is a very good point. There is inherently a lot of hyperbole on sites like this and whether it’s a thread meant for pro-men, pro-children, pro-women, pro-dogs, or anti- anything, you are going to have a range a people’s opinions but also their mood/emotional at the given moment which is going to color and bias how they receive things. There is a of defensiveness from folks too. A lot of folks seem to see every comment under these posts are argumentative before assuming positive intent. That…

I am totally filling in blanks here but sounds also like she told her dad and her new boyfriend too. She makes a comment about how they hate abusers and are changing the locks. Horrible.
/r/MensRights16/06/23 02:53 AM

In re: to “so what”- ? It fucking matters if you accuse someone of abuse. False accusations matter, it’s a form of abuse, and leaves lasting consequences. There are actually people who see this apparently and are probably making excuses for her abhorrent behavior. It doesn’t make her pushing him to kill himself any less horrible just because I point out that she is also accusing him of being an abuser along with it. As if what she had already done to the guy wasn’t bad enough.
/r/MensRights16/06/23 02:41 AM

Ya I agree. Guy above posted that people were saying “he must have” which is why I pointed out she was clearly trying to accuse him of that in her psycho abusive messages. I don’t think anyone said that it proved anything. I am saying that she is trying to create that narrative and accusation along with it all. I don’t think anyone (here at least) is defending or believing her narrative.
/r/MensRights16/06/23 02:38 AM

Of course it doesn’t prove anything. Old egalitarian posted that multiple people were saying he must have abused her. Her narrative, and her directly accusing him of abuse in those text messages would contribute to those people also making those accusations. Wouldn’t you agree?
/r/MensRights16/06/23 01:27 AM

She claims he was abusive in these texts. She is intentionally also trying to make people think he was.

So it’s 50/50 then? Whoever make more money would typically pay the other person in order to keep the houses equal. 50/50 regardless of how that time is divided up.

I am being entirely honest. I do care. I am a female. I am honestly shocked but so much of this. I typically ignore much of the content because I think it goes way over board honestly- which may get me banned. But I saw this post re: therapy and I honestly felt compelled to interact for a few reason. I think OP is genuine in the feelings and experience. There are numerous people here who have the same feelings and experience and have played as such, and I believe it sounds genuine. I have a brot…

OP- question for OP and many others here that are echoing these frustrations- what would you LIKE it to look/feel like? Male/female? More/less “answers” more/less telling you what to do? Or more just listening? I guess I am wondering what is it that you want or expect that you are not getting? Also, have you shared that with the therapist ?
/r/MensRights02/03/23 04:07 AM

This is my experience as well. Maybe the issue is that the expectation of what therapy would be and what a therapist provides was vastly different than the expectation.

OP- stop caring so much what other people think of you. Fuck em’. Quit giving these imaginary people, “society” or who’s ever else, so much power over your life. Hardest thing for me was not actually hearing all these people say terrible things about me (that I KNEW all along deep down that they were saying and feeling)- the hardest thing was actually finding out they were not talking about me at all! They didn’t care. People are too wrapped up in their own shit.

With all do respect OP, what are you trying to get to? To prove your point or to find a way to improve things? I am sure you can win an argument and prove your point w/ statistics like you said, but is the end goal to prove a point and “back up” a point or to improve things? I say this with complete and utter respect for the challenge at hand and I don’t claim it is easy. I am not saying you are wrong, but is it that important to be “right” or to be happy and be at peace? If you try other ways a…

Maybe 25 years ago but I don’t think so anymore. I am so shocked by this. Where do you live (if you don’t mind me asking)? I wonder if different parts of the country have different attitudes on this(probably do). But having spent my life in New England and in Northern California, I can absolutely tell you that women prefer a man with the confidence and open minded introspection that comes along with being open to therapy and would feel completely the opposite of what you are describing. Not all …

I took a landmark forum course for a weekend. I actually really enjoyed it and walked away standing a little taller. It is like self help books though- lots of hyperbole- but if you are emotionally mature enough to realize that and take from it what you like (and leave behind what You don’t like) then I think it’s very valuable. It does take a strong person though who is willing and interested. There are some very annoying things about it, and it’s work.

Therapists (like all humans) can be shitty. Find a new one. The fact is, communication is healthy. Spending time to be introspective and improve yourself- and taking ownership of your issues is work and it sucks. But I do believe it is worth it.

I totally disagree that “anecdotes aren’t evidence”. People’s experience are absolutely educational and statistics are hardly hard proof when it comes to one’s mental health, experience, and something as subjective as therapy.
/r/MensRights02/03/23 02:20 AM

Therapists done typically prescribe medicine. So it yours does, maybe that is an example of conflict of interest.

We aren’t all like that. Lots of us are super lonely also. And it is normal- no one should be shaming you ever- for any reason. Male female doesn’t matter. That is wrong either way. “The ones that matter don’t care and the ones who care don’t matter “

Maybe not a popular opinion, but she seems to have had just as many mental health issues as he did. Not suggesting what she did was right- but he threatened to do it over and over again and would threaten to do it a lot.
