There’s a very good article (The Atlantic) and book on this very topic: Marry Him: the case for settling for Mr Good Enough by Lori Gottlieb. Read the article if you’re short on time but the book is worth the read (just be discreet as it could be off-putting to your partner). You have touched on something very important and your question is valid. There’s something dirty/unkind associated with “settling” but to truth is we all settle to some degree. And best believe our partners settle for us to…

Congrats on your nuptials! There are a lot of suggestions that it would be such a waste if after all my schooling and years of work (including being promoted) if I were to stop working. Also, I'm told to consider how much pressure it would place on my husband who would be required to financially assist his parents and mine (filial piety). Then there are the undertones (not said directly) of me being lazy and unambitious.

Ok if he wants tacos then tacos it is but... you could set up a nice station where each person could customise their own. Nice shredded lettuce, pico de Gallo/salsa, crunchy and soft shells etc. I would also suggest that you do a dessert as well - maybe a recipe you're comfortable with Could be something simple as dairy-free cookies or muffins & if you have extra he could take some to work the next day. Trust your instincts to show your nurturing side - my now husband still talks about a special…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
