Do you think this encouragement is outdated? I believe culture attempts to preserve this behavior because in times of warfare, and extreme economic instability a man serves his role of protecting the family unit better especially if his wife is dealing with complications from pregnancy. Inability for a man to lead is riskier because he needs to combat other men. Perhaps this may be red pill thinking.
