As someone who isn't full MGTOW but basically lives the lifestyle, I'll say this: Both opinions are the extreme. I do agree that marriage (these days) is a terrible deal for men. All these long as posts and only a few with decent advice. Let's keep it real simple. My friend who just got married said it like this: "Feed me, fuck me, and shut the fuck up!" The point is simple: Be fun and low maintenance. Someone we can have fun with but also someone that he knows he can trust and be there for him when he needs a friend. Do that, and you can look like the bottom of my shoe at 37 and it won't matter.
