This is one of the reasons I’m starting to see my encroaching 30th birthday more as a light at the end of the tunnel and less of a membrane of existential dread

This has been my lived experience to the T lol, right up to only having complimentary interactions like this with other men :(. I think they’re more likely to have worked blue collar as a youngster, or just have more respect for traditionally masculine fields of work. My relationships have been few but deep and meaningful.

Always wondered about the female perspective on this. Like don’t blue collar men check a lot of boxes for things women say they’re looking for? We make money, are generally masculine, nice hands and forearms etc. So why the revulsion? Is it an education thing? Some assumption that we’re all brainless culturally stagnant dopes who can’t think of a better date than a Buffalo Wild Wings or something? Unless it’s my face not my work boots lol.

Wait, you’re out there? There’s been so many instances when I’m talking to a new person and their face drops when I tell them I work blue collar. It’s kinda demoralizing. Sorry I get antsy as fuck at a desk and like working on/at machines.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
