I know lots of people interpret him that way. But as far as I know his own views were not so. Can you list a credible source for this?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/18 05:10 PM

Yes, but now you are beyond just claiming he doesn't criticise the right, Why? How does that follow from my statement? That is exactly what I am claiming. and into the field of you just disagreeing with him. I'm claiming he doesn't criticize the right, and that by pretending that he totally does all the time "I swear I'm a centrist" he is engaging in willful, propagandist deception. How is that just disagreeing with him? He's a liar.

Jung was in his writings very mystical Yeah I'm gonna need a piping hot citation for that one.

Wow, so witty, thank you for your concern! Enter the typical "I have nothing good to say so insult the other person's intelligence" internet debate tactic since you can't debate in good faith. Not an argument, and you're not responding to my argument. Hilarious. lol, wut? Have you read the book or heard him speak? Yes, I have. It's the basis for my views on him. Most people who don't like him think he's a misogynist or something and that is dangerously misguided because if you listen to him spea…

Cool, so you still don't have a response to my arguments. Practically the same thing. Sounds good to me! You calling me “right wing” is an expression of your rabid tribalism. Can't disagree with you there. Though if you're a Peterson fan I must say that I don't actually believe you're not right-wing.

Cool, so I was wrong about that and right about everything else? I'll take that. I'm fine with that.

Okay. If you think Peterson is "not quite racist enough for the most extreme" alt-righters, just how racist do you think he is? I don't really know. If I had to guess, probably not very or not at all. He's racist enough for most alt-righters, just not all? That's still pretty fucking racist! I take it you are not familiar with dogwhistle politics. If you could provide some evidence of this racism you allege I didn't allege that, so... no? What is it with you Peterson defenders and these assumpti…

What's deceptive about him? He claims to be a centrist and not a conservative. That is not true. It's also the point of first comment starting this whole thread, so I'm a little worried about your reading comprehension if you missed it. Plenty of leftists were shameless opportunists, monetizing their popularity. Are they shitty too? If they do so by spreading dangerous propaganda while furthering an agenda of deception like he does, then yes. And some of them do, so yes, some of them are shitty …

1) Don't downvote me. Sure, but can I ask that you actually respond to the words that I write instead of what you wished I wrote? 2) There is a difference between post hoc justification of torture and murder instead of building a platform on racism or equity. Peterson's goal is not to battle obviously violent people who have violent coups because everyone agrees they're wrong, but to define the lines where leftists and rightists have slipped too far down their slippery slopes. Right. But Pinoche…

Pinochet did that to consolidate power after a coup, he didn't whip the nation into a fervor in order to get elected. Not a fair comparison to Hitler at all. He was a right wing dictator who justified his horrible murders with right-wing ideology. How is that not -- other than being right-wing and not left-wing -- exactly what Peterson is supposedly all about fighting against? who have left leaning beliefs about inequality that he's clearly in favor of, which no right winger worth their salt wou…

Well I tried to be civil You mostly were. You're the one who's upset about the down votes. I only down voted your strawman comment because the others were mostly civil. Own up to your bad arguments and you won't have this problem. It's not like I'm not going to watch the videos. But like, really? You don't see why a strawman would get downvoted? Come on. Own up to it.

It's not bad by itself, it is bad when coupled with other bad things, like deception in this case. I was responding to the notion that he isn't an opportunist. If you're conceding that he is, then I'm not sure what you're getting at.

I don't see how that negates his opportunism.

Which is it? What? It's not contradictory at all. He's a shameless opportunist and he is deceptive. Deception is one of the ways he is shamelessly taking advantage of opportunities. Notice how I do not down vote you? Notice how I don't strawman you? Yeah.

In his estimation, ethnic superiority is where you know when someone's right leaning beliefs are too far Then he's deliberately ignoring Pinochet and many others on the right who managed to commit atrocities without needing ethic superiority. This is what I mean. That is not an honest threshold for problems on the right, and any student of history knows that, including Peterson. He wants people to think he's being even-handed but he knows that he isn't. He's also immersed in a left leaning envir…

Downvotes are poor form Mr. Omahunek, but live your dreams! Strawmans are poor form. Downvotes are the measured and reasonable response. I don’t understand the issue. People voluntarily give him donations based on the value they believe they’ve received from his work. Making money isn't an issue. I already told you what my issue with him is -- his uneven and goal-oriented criticism of the left and his deceptive insistence that he is a centrist. I don't know why you insist on finding other reason…

Why the downvotes bruh!!!!??? You threw out a pretty big strawman based on nothing as if you hadn't read any of my comments. That's pretty loaded. Argue honestly if you don't want downvotes. Even before he was popular he put his lectures up on YouTube for free for the last 4-5 years. And he's totally not raking in cash hand over fist from his book deals resulting from his controversy-inspired popularity. /s

Or is it because he genuinely (and rightfully so) perceives the left as a risk for personal freedoms (like that of speech)? Does he talk about the right Wing's fervent desire to censor, discredit, and silence the media? No. Even though that's also a threat to free speech. I wonder why? It wasn't rightwingers who introduced bill c-16, for example; and it isn't rightwingers who have kicked off the cultural revolution on campus. The right wing is in control of every branch of government of the most…

He told someone "race is not an extended family", a lot of alt-righters hate him because he refused to debate some ethno-nationalists. Alt-righters can't even agree on whether the Nazis were evil totally-leftists-you-guys or actually-had-some-good-ideas right-wingers. He never criticizes the right. You can argue that there are plenty on the left for him to criticize, and I agree, but to argue that there aren't on the right in the modern day would be lunacy. The fact that he never takes the ample opportunities to criticize those on the right is all you need to know.

Jordan Peterson isn't really sanitized. He claims to be a centrist but he's obviously right-leaning based on his actions and who he supports. That political association totally prevents him from being an example of what you are talking about in terms of being "sanitized." Try a figure who doesn't intentionally feed off of controversy.

I'm confused -- are you suggesting that people pretend to have faith -- essentially, to lie about being Christian -- to be able to lay Christian girls? Seems like a very anti-Christian perspective to me. The alternative would be that you suggest they find the faith by making them believe, but you're not doing that. You're just presenting practical reasons why it would be better to believe. Do you really think it would be better if people lied and pretended they believe despite not doing so?

There are cultures where women are very promiscuous indeed and rape is very uncommon Do you have any sources for this? I'd be curious to know which cultures you're talking about, especially with all the controversy about how sexual assault statistics are even generated here in the West.

peak fertility occurs in the mid-to-late 20s Well, that's obviously an average. Surely there are outliers who reach peak fertility earlier or later than others, and it stands to reason that some of them would signal that. But to know how it actually lines up you would not only need a better understanding of the stats than just the average (like, say, the standard deviation), but you would ideally also need to have actual fertility statistics from the girls in question at these life stages to be …

and most women wouldn't even want to get involved with a guy who engages in it. Just throwing in my two cents: in my experience, I see women slut-shaming each other more than men do. They can always pick the most sexually - liberated non-slut-shaming men to get involved with and still have to worry about being shamed by their friends / social contacts.

TRP says nothing about dedication I... you... I mean... okay look, you don't have to be a red-piller to know that's just not true. There's a LOT of dedication talk. Maybe they're not dedicated to useful goals but you really can't read through that place and honestly say there isn't a lot of talk about self-improvement and dedication and discipline and all that.

shrug maybe, I don't pretend to know about that. I just love me some Roman History.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/16 04:46 PM

Implying the Romans didn't viciously insult each other with a vigor and creativity that modern Americans might even blush at. Seriously, Roman politicians were constantly calling each other's masculinity into question, asserting that they like getting sodomized, mouth-fucked, etc. The Romans were MUCH worse about that.

Because I forced it out of you. Lead with your good arguments that actually respond to someone's point, don't bury them behind irrelevant nonsense that can double as insults.

In other words, you are over-emphasizing the power of economic incentives in the face of irrational racism and sexism What a great argument. Why didn't you use this in the first place, since it's actually relevant?

So you did miss the point. His context for the statement is simple economics. In your hypothetical, the 'matriarchy' is avoiding hiring some of the most qualified people, so he's saying he'd take advantage of that and hire them. Moreover, he's saying that anyone who's properly qualified should be able to do that, regardless of gender or race. So his claim is that such a system would naturally correct itself due to market incentives. You are the one "herp-derp dismiss"-ing his comment. He's makin…

7

You're asking him to prove that he's actually done his hypothetical response to your hypothetical scenario? Do you know what hypothetical means? He hasn't responded to this hypothetical issue in real life because the world isn't actually like the hypothetical and the advantages he's describing making use of are based on that hypothetical. A more appropriate response would be asking people who think the hypothetical scenario is real (but reversed to institute a patriarchy) why they can't accompli…

Well TRP is pretty clear that Feminism is both men and women's fault for accepting. So at the very least, even if TRP considers Feminism to be the source of all men's suffering, it implicitly blames both women and "plugged in" Men for Feminism. So in that sense the blame isn't all on women. That may not be much of meaningful distinction to most people but I think it's there.

if they're there for some weird historical reason they'll be pruned. You should do more reading on Natural Selection before making statements like that. While given an infinite time span you're not exactly wrong, traits that aren't advantageous or disadvantageous mostly just stay in a gene pool as genetic diversity. Natural Selection follows a model called Punctuated Equilibrium. Genes aren't thrown out on their own because they don't have a "use." Those genes have to result in a measurable chan…

Is there another crime where so much victim shaming happens? Seriously. If someone's house gets broken into, do we start criticizing the victim for not having a strong enough alarm system or bars on their windows? Look up the show "It takes a Thief."
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/16 09:14 PM

That's not a very convincing response since my response was to you actively dismissing men's issues exactly as I said.

But that is just the nature of birth. You can say the same thing about women who might be threatened by their pregnancy or a variety of other concerns that would lead a woman to have an abortion. This is yet another example of a broader issue: for most feminists, any problem for women must be legislated and solved, but male problems must simply be accepted as unfortunate nature. It's blatantly un-egalitarian.

Men will become the "beautiful ones" who do nothing more than eat, sleep and groom themselves all day. That will only be true when women stop being attracted to a man who gets things done.

For those of you who don't know, he's referring to the fact that Julius Caesar gave many of his political enemies clemency when he came to power, in stark contrast to a previous coup-er, Sulla (who killed them all). Caesar probably thought this would engender good will in them and give him a better reputation, but Caesar was ignoring the 15th law of power, "Crush your enemies completely." In the end, Caesar was assassinated by those same political opponents that he had shown mercy to.

Sparta is far from characteristic of "most societies." Even at the time they were considered something of an anomaly as a society. We remember them so fondly in culture because they were legendarily different from other cultures.

This misses the point. A used car is more likely to be damaged or worn down, which is why it is worth less. Women's bodies (and their vaginas) really don't get worn down from sex (though they do get worn down by the passing of time, obviously, that's the WALL). That's a common misconception. It's not about "drinking from a soda that other guys have drank from" or any of those phrases that feminists throw around to have an easy time attacking the idea (I'd call it a strawman but a lot of traditio…
