Words. Matter. Beware of the many “you(s)” as well, you are probably this or that — you have done this or that — you… or my… there are times that these words matter greatly as they reflect entitlement/ownership/deflection.

Um, nope. Not going to raise my daughter with that nonsense. Yes, the dynamic between man and woman and marriage and relationships has changed significantly with INDUSTRIALIZATION and the global economies AND moreover tainted by Western ROMANTICISM surrounding relationships and love…

Oh yes, 100% — somebody asked me if I still held “love” for the Ex… fuck no!!! After everything, yes it is indeed sad, but FUCK NO… the person through the divorce process has proven why the relationship was always dead. Whatever love existed has been torched, engulfed, desecrated and done to an ‘ash-y crisp’. Let us move on.

Excellent advice — I did NOT stay clear away from the alcohol… 7 months sober and divorce finalized. Yet, the nightmare goes on… a lot easier w/o giving away free ammunition; the absurdity around alcohol leaves you MORE depressed/anxious. There are better ways to cope (absolutely zero judgements for those that drink or for those who struggled or struggle like I once did…) Stay strong Brothers!

Yo — you are not ALONE! We are not alone — your ex, my ex — cut from the same ‘cloth’ … divorced finalized in May this year… still no overnights with the kid (going to have to go back to court, 3rd time…?) these covert narcissists are the worst. E.I.P. — emotionally immature person— you CANNOT hold a conversation with them — they will leave you with ‘brain scramble’ — don’t worry there is NOTHING you did wrong except for marrying and carrying such people. Stay strong!

Been there Warrior… stopped drinking 7 months ago… stopped before the divorce finalized — drank near daily for two years with the ‘habit’ trying to escape the nightmare. Drinking just made the nightmares worse… and tough to meet anyone or do anything with non-stop hangovers… everything is better without the booze…

Honestly, that is where most of my anger lies… inwards. So many red flags, but this victim blaming won’t help — you live & learn through it. The OP has a lot of “I” statements. Perhaps those in here were stuck in relationships with emotionally immature partners — impossible to deal with. Hard to achieve Buddha levels of forgiveness…

Yup, that summed up “my wife” in a perfect nutshell. Absolutely no need, except she felt the judge needed to hear how “terrible” I am…

Amen and keep preaching it brother. I’m slowly coming to this realization. Unfortunately, freedom has its price. And it is worth it. Times will be tough, but with decent management things will eventually settle. Besides death comes for us all if your in America one health issue will wipe out anything you got anyways… The mental and emotional cost far outweighs the almighty pursuit of greenbacks. Grey-rock — is the way and moving on. They sucked. Don’t fall for the trap of fearing being alone — t…

Yup — I thought the same. That expletive would probably just smile over my dead body and whisper ‘Yes!’ … true revenge would be doing crunches and starting an Instagram account littered with ‘Kittens’ in Bikinis updated weekly. I sure do love ‘Kittens’ — just got to be smarter next time around and take one in with fleas…

I understand what you are saying… but, I must disagree slightly. It is time for OP to ‘put on the oxygen mask, first’ — his kids will always be there, they will always be his kids no matter the narrative. I suffered greatly with this as my wife has done everything to destroy my relationship with my daughter— the absolute truth is: not your wife, not the judge, nor GOD herself can or ever will change the fact that you are those kids father, I am my daughters father. Nothing will EVER negate that …

Oh fuck — wasn’t even planning on posting — yup, my wife sucked in the ENTIRE network of family & friends — sibling wouldn’t stop interfering, dad (step) is having continuous phone conversations, wtf? — Loyalty means nothing? Meanwhile wife is knifing me in the back using the kid as an object for negotiation in the divorce… Ditto on the co-dependency white-knighting b.s. — ‘empathy fatigue-compassion fatigue’ leaves you exhausted. Defamation is hard to prove and I too wish I could do the same. B…

“Incel” is abbreviated for ‘involuntary celibacy’ - no need to over extrapolate its definition. People who would love to have sex, but lack the ability to procure their desired partner.

Haven’t had overnights in 3 and half months. Apparently, I am a ‘raging’ alcoholic and can’t be trusted. Never mind that the separation hasn’t been an emotional and mental nightmare - anyways I’m on day 16 without booze. I ain’t going to let that be the narrative. I have been in denial that the person I married truly loved me and was a reasonable adult. Nope, just pure vitriol and zero accountability for what led the BOTH of US here. Stay strong - we may become estranged from our children, but t…

Exactly this - STBXW, is making it in to some sort of competition. Do I really want to track receipts for Futsal, shoes, jersey, league fees? 120$ - for fuck’s sake - am I going to chase $60 down for a thing that my child needed. It becomes petty real quick and the real harm always trickles down to the kids.

This is the truth. Our trial is in March and my wife won’t allow me to see my kid, but constantly tells me that it is important for our kid to have a father in her life…? Just like this person said, years of people pleasing left me with Zero boundaries. These vindictive women are the worst. I am trying to not be a cliche of a divorced father.

Yes, I fcking hate that shite platitude: ‘Happy wife happy, happy life’ - go fck off! What a setup for a sweet life of gaslighting, invalidation, and codependency.

Amen, I haven’t even finalized my divorce and my step-dad is asking me about getting married again - like ? What, what the fuck for - ain’t going to have any more kids. And I ain’t going to do paperwork that fucks my finances up, emotional and mental health ever again. Marriage is a fun play space for emotional abuse - no one is physically bruised, but you sure can shred someone just the same inside-out.

Yup, we all have encountered them, “hr never gave a shit about the kids, never provided child support, and they are all very, very bitter even years later… now that I am experiencing some crazy ass shit that my wife is pulling during our divorce, especially with the alienation of my teenage daughter, I wonder if their men were truly shit - or simply driven away.

Holy shit - mine said that to me… amongst other horrible things: “Why don’t you grow some balls and divorce me…?” Well, I guess I finally grew some. She is furious - funny how that works. Delusional is certainly one word one could use.

Amen, brother - I tried all those things you mentioned - any act of kindness is perceived as weakness. Marriage is truly a scam.

Sometimes information like this comes along too late - we fell in to the trap not because we wanted to, but we had not yet realized the warnings written which were 100% TRUE, all of it. If you fell in to the trap - dust yourself off and remember that rebound relationships never work.

Mine looked at me with a blank stare. A truly blank stare. As if were I staring at God’s pure perfection in her and me? Mud. She was listening to mud with lips and language. Well, that is fun (it is not) till it really becomes NOT FUN.

Oh, she employed, “flying monkies” - bad enough she would do it alone let alone employing others to the false narrative. Welcome to club. This club sucks.

Looks like we married the same woman. Conflict resolution, nevermind that, always my fault 100%, apologizing as if it mattered. Take the blame, or not, end result just the same. It is the disney version of ‘Beauty vs. the Beast’ - take a guess who comprises the role of ‘beast’ …

For starters no more silly “Happy Wife, Happy Life” b.s. -always hated that. Super dismissive of 1/2 of the equation.

The double standard: she left me and everyone told me it was okay! They asked what I was going to do to get her back! She left me!

Or my STBXW, these are scorched earth type of woman. They don’t give a Fuck about coming out of the divorce cleanly. Just constant mind-fucks and insults whenever possible.

Wow, and here I thought it was just me - solely going through this. I thought was alone. Counseling was the opportunity for a total stranger we got to pay money for so they could listen to my wife tell them how much I sucked. Forget about her, she is being transcended without fault. Me, an asshole. It seems to validate the person who lacks the ability to communicate to begin with- they wont acknowledge it.

I think I need to read that book. I put up with so much that resentment definitely built up until it became too much.
