I think I’m in love

Same. I am not attracted to men who are more than a few inches taller than I am. I have never been interested in a tall man; I am attracted to good eye contact, comfortable hugs, and the short soccer player type build. My mom is taller than my dad, and he was her high school sweetheart, not someone she “settled” with. This “only like tall men” thing is wildly overstated.

Right?? I literally have zero friends that have casual sex; relationships only. I’m sure people who sleep with “Chad” are out there, but there is no way it’s as common as so many of these men think it is. I don’t get it.

Same. I’m sure there are people around who are into hookup culture, but I’ve never been close with anyone who is.

No. Most men I see around my age pass my looks threshold for attraction; however, it only turns into sexual attraction for me if our personalities jive and they seem intelligent.

I agree, the attractiveness level of men who approach me varies wildly. However is will say that almost all of them had reasonable eye contact, and seemed warm and friendly (excluding random men who yell from across the street; this is just men who initiated close conversation).

Oh nice! I haven’t been there in a while, but if you’re ever in Lubbock Texas, I recommend the Free Market Institute’s Speaker Series :)

Many women like myself, as well as many men, have never been involved in casual sex or pick up culture. The ability to get casual sex literally means nothing (to the people I know at least) because we are not participating in that and have never participated in that. If men or women value it that’s fine for them, no judgement either way. Using offensive language about men or women probably isn’t the best idea if you’re trying not to offend people though.

I married my first boyfriend. I met him because he went to church with a good college friend of mine. He was a “good guy”, involved in bible studies, worked with the soup kitchen, he was nice to my family and friends, did regular check ins with my dad, got to know my brothers. We were both virgins on our wedding night. Literally as we were driving away from the church venue his temperament changed. He started screaming at me because he had forgotten to pack a weekend bag, and it got worse from t…

It’s still this way in many religious communities. My friends and I were encouraged to go on casual dates to get to know many men, but there was very little physical intimacy that happened until the wedding night.

You seem like a reasonable, empathetic person. Is there a way for you to address these issues with your friends by stating how it is for “most of your male friends” on dating apps instead of using yourself as an example? It would probably be healthy for the girls to have their eyes opened about other’s struggles from someone they trust/respect, and it would certainly be better for you not to have to keep all that bottled up.

Maybe so. I don’t know any physically aggressive women (aggressive with men or women) so I would hope not, but that might be wishful thinking. Ideally IMO this would mean women wouldn’t have a low level background fear for their physical safety while interacting with new men/acquaintances, resulting in a lot more general openness and friendliness.

This is so interesting. I wonder how different male female relationships would be if there wasn’t a big strength imbalance.

Not true for all women. I can’t be attracted to anyone without an emotional connection. I’ve had two long term partners, and have had plenty of attention from “Chad” that I was not responsive to. It’s the same for almost all of my friends.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/25 01:49 PM

I think he is under the assumption that most women are on welfare or some kind of government subsidy which is a wild take. This is just my own experience, but all my friends have good jobs, no debt aside from home or car loan, and manage their bills just fine.

For me, shoulders back, normal, relaxed stride, looking around and aware of their surroundings, not afraid of friendly eye contact, can give a quick smile. Someone who seems friendly and socially well adjusted.

I think if you repeatedly say that something is upsetting you, and your partner does not care to change, they are showing how they feel about you. I personally would not want to be with someone who I had to threaten to leave to get them to care about my feelings. That seems wild.

Many of us have never used dating apps, including myself. I do agree with you that that type of set up makes things worse between the genders.

It’s so sad; I feel like you’re giving these guys the keys to the kingdom as far as how to turn women on sexually (which benefits everyone!) and he’s just… deciding not to believe it for whatever reason.

It is sad. I wish there was an easy way for men to have meaningful, deep, friendships. I’m sure many do, but on PPD at least it seems like it’s more difficult for men to develop a truly supportive friend group that can satisfy most of their emotional/social needs.

This makes is so obvious that many men do not see women as people. We are just objects, and if these men don’t get a toy they like, they think a reasonable response is to “get revenge”.

I’m sorry if I misunderstood or offended you. I thought you were unaware that female genital mutilation was still happening, and thought a link about it from the WHO would be less aggressive than a less vanilla news source.

For me at least, it was about the type of man I wanted to date. I had no problem asking someone out when I needed a date for an event; weddings, etc., but I only wanted to date someone who liked me specifically enough to go through the potential awkwardness of approaching, and someone who values their goals more than they are worried about social anxiety. Also, I prefer to have the man lead in multiple areas of the relationship, and asking him out would start a bad precedent for what I would wan…

Why does that follow? Many of us don’t do casual sex. I married my first bf, and was a virgin on my wedding night. After our son was born he began having severe mental illness/violent episodes so I’ve had to start the divorce process. If I ever decide to date again, I definitely still wouldn’t be interested in casual sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/05/24 04:40 PM

Men and women should only be dating people who treat them the way they want to be treated. If someone is not meeting your needs/standards, and you are not being treated the way you prefer, being single is a better option. Having standards for how you will be treated is healthy. Trying to coerce a man or woman into behaving in a way they do not want to behave is not healthy.
