Different people have different tresholds and tolerance to cognitive dissonance. You need to have logic in order to be able to lose it. And you need to be willing to open your eyes in order to see. Some people find it easy to close their eyes if it benefits them.

It was because "I am me, and she's her, those are two different things". That was pretty much the extent of the explanation. I didn't see the road for further discussion and just made sure to press the GF to always insist on condoms usage.

You would lose that bet. I asked him this very question straight away and he said of course he's OK with himself cheating, not with her. He had a full-blown case of what some people used to call Hottentot Morality. He was actually an interesting specimen, in some aspects extremely pure... or primitive, like a child or an animal. With a surprisingly strict moral code that he always followed, it's just reciprocity wasn't a part of it. His girlfriend was actually awesome, beatutiful and with a hear…

I've seen some people who explicitly announce their own hypocicy. Like "If I ever find out my GF is cheating, I'll kill her and the man. But the fact that I am fucking other girls is perfectly OK".

She's not entirely wrong, but the article is much better than that. Laura goes on a rant saying that the author "should have made better choices in life", which isn't that helpful. Stoya and Rich have a much more useful answer: "you are supposed to get off your ass and make the first step".

I'm a man and what /u/WhatIsThisAccountFor says is 100% true for me. Except I like flat-chested girls.

In many jurisdictions you don't get alimony if you cheated on your spouse.

In reality, when two consenting adults have sex, they are both giving nature permission to do what it does. You can apply the same logic for STI. Syphillis is also nature. You can get an STI as a result of a sexual intercource, but it does not mean you permitted or wanted it. And this does not mean that you need to be denied treatment just because you had sex and you knew the risks, or your partner should be able to prevent you from going to hospital because the germs are his biologic material.

No. Using contraception is basically saying "I don't want children". You can apply the same logic for STI. You can get an STI as a result of a sexual intercource, but it does not mean you gave tacit permission to have it. And this does not mean you agred to have it. Or that you need to be denied treatment just because you had sex and you knew the risks. Or your partner could choose to deny you said treatment.

But sex can't equal a pregnancy if you are a male. And then you can talk about concequences as much as you want knowing that they can't happen to you. Convenient, huh?

No. /u/emzmurcko is referring to "Why does only the mother get to decide to abort?" question. If I handcuff and whip my girlfriend and she likes it and asks for more, it's kinky sex. If she doesn't, it's torture rape. Both parties need to agree, I don't say "well, sex is an activity that includes two of us, so why is it only you who gets to decide against?" In the same vein, if she wants pregnancy and child and is OK with enduring the process, it's motherhood. If she is forced to bear a child ag…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
