I guess a better way for me to articulate how I feel would be that society as a whole is a business who's goal is to improve the world as a whole, and the government is the regulating body. Like in this example, the purpose of child support payments is to ensure that children aren't being left totally abandoned or unsupported, which is a method to improve society. The truth is that privilege is something you get mostly from economic class, educational opportunity, and upbringing. I agree with this, but I feel like those things tie in with what I said. Idk if I'm reading this right, but are you saying that white males aren't the most privileged? Because I completely disagree, coming from a white male. If I go into an average job interview and see the other applicants are anything other than white males, I'm not going to be worried about them having an unfair advantage. The government is a functioning business and citizens are more or less its workers/resources. This story is very heartwarming for the father, but the government would just see it as the resolution to this child's foster care payments. I wish it wasn't that way, and if there is a way to change it I would love it, but for now that's just how it works.
