In the absence of data to support a conclusion one way or the other regarding the effect of "man-hatred", the only logical conclusion to draw (based on the available data) is that no difference was caused by "man-hatred", a variable that you can't even quantify (and a variable that I don't believe exists). I see. So the people who refused to watch it due to the man-hate would have resulted in zero revenue increase? I have no reason to assume there would have been a difference. Given that CM's opening weekend domestically has preformed better than every Marvel origin film except for Black Panther, it reasons that the overwhelming majority of fans didn't care. This is the 6th largest global opening of all time, and 2nd largest in the MCU behind Infinity War. It's the 2nd best domestic debut for an MCU hero behind Black Panther. It's on pace to break $1b worldwide easy, and end up in the top 1/3rd of MCU films in terms of revenue. By all accounts, the MCU audience is not being impacted by this "boycott". So what is there for a hollywood studio to figure out? Seems to me like this is playing out exactly as Disney wanted.
