I see where you’re coming from but percentages can be misleading. For instance people start freaking out about unemployment around 6%. You could easily say “oh its such a small percentage 94% of people are doing just fine” any economist would tell you that 10% is a huge problem. As for young kids i think you are still being a little willfully ignorant. I believe that there is a real trend towards being less socially aware/adept. Like I said I see it in my elders how crazy social they are. Furthe…

Well it is a false dichotomy, and the dichotomy exists because people were told “never do XYZ”. Which is way different from “you can do XYZ so long as you’re polite and kind”

Brother… do you not read the news or watch tv or anything. People of all different sexes and life experiences are lamenting the lack of community, connection, third spaces, etc. I’m willing to grant that everyone is an individual and all that but to pretend that this is some insignificant problem is hilarious with how zeitgeisty this conversation is. Ever have a friendly chat with a particularly jocular Gen Alpha kid? Now think about every interaction with anyone over 60. They’ve got bars they d…

So would you feel comfortable telling a group of boys that they don’t need to listen to their female elders about consent? Because that is what you’re implying. In my opinion the responsibility falls on the adult to communicate better. Proclaiming dogmatic platitudes and then shaming people for being naive for having taken the platitude to heart is needlessly complicated.

Classic. Man not romantically happy, must be he’s a bad person or a weak loser. There’s plenty of guys who were told a million rules about courtship like “never ogle at a gal without permission” And they listened because they are good people who listen to mentors and elders. How are you supposed to date if you’re following rules that basically equate to “don’t participate in normal courtship behavior”

Ma’am I’m the one who brought up women’s problems and how I hear and completely understand the frustration. Which is like… the complete opposite of “a male fantasy of being uniquely burdened” And the fact that I have made space for that in this conversation and you just keep digging your heels in I think PrOvEs my point which is: I’m cool with recognizing women’s issues, yet apparently many feel they can’t acknowledge men’s issues. I reckon that is to do with a sense of this being a zero sum gam…

Just tell him you don’t like him. If he pushes tell him some other BS. It’s not you, it’s the astrology or whatever, moons are misaligned.

Yes context matters which is why you made up/referenced a scenario that supports your position.

Maybe in the past. Like I said my experience is that my therapist was literally the first person to ever say “it’s okay to be angry” and I have never made it a habit to have emotional outbursts of anger at work so I wouldn’t know how beneficial it is. I’m glad it worked out for you though.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/26 04:40 PM

So… that bothers you…. I completely understand why it would. So surely yall can understand how annoying that is. Which is why I brought up women’s similar issues. To hopefully facilitate an understanding. Or would you prefer to go back and forth. “Nana nana boo boo” style?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/26 04:25 PM

Duh, yes, therapy is good. No I’m talking things like saying “I’m sad” and the response being “well it’s not that bad and, there’s bigger problems in the world and, you’re the only one who can fix it, no use crying about it, get to work and make it better” instead of “hey that’s understandable” Or god forbid your angry, people use the historical context of men being violent bullies to make you feel bad about being mad. My therapist was the first person ever to be like “well its okay to be angry,…

I’m telling you that in therapy I learned healthy ways to express and regulate my emotions. Often those strategies I learned from professional therapists over the years are still not well received from people in real life. I’m sure women can relate. I’ve heard lots of women complain that normal levels of assertiveness get unfairly labeled bossiness. Men have similar issues. Due to the expectations and historical context men get treated a certain way that isn’t always fair to the individual.

Women often comment that they assumed I’m gay because I was attractive, dressed nice, well groomed, good posture.

I think a lot of us grew up in an era where we were told to stay out of the way and not bother people. Just look at the way elderly folks will talk your ear off and there’s zero social friction they just barf their whole life story to you. We wonder why people suck at dating now? Maybe because everyone thinks its rude or inappropriate to impose on someone’s time for a little friendly chat.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/26 03:06 PM

Men suffer in silence due to the cultural stigma of a man burdening anyone with his emotions. Men and women contribute to that. Therapy has taught me that many people are not ready for men to share their feelings. Ignoring women’s contributions to the problem is just as silly as ignoring men’s .

In my experience women still appreciate that typical male archetype too, which adds to the frustration. It looks disingenuous if you browbeat people about toxic masculinity then the preferences for toxic masculinity are still super strong and widespread.

It’s this.

I think a lot of normal behaviors like a man setting a boundary has been pathologized through this pilled gender war terminology. The example you describe is really specific and extreme. I think there’s a lot of romantically unhappy dudes out there who absolutely are not vindictive snakes. They just get overlooked IMO because they have been shamed out of doing certain normal courtship behaviors. I like how you said “normal guy (or asshole)” I completely agree with this sentiment. People are so q…

I find that doing the work in therapy just makes me notice how the world is not really ready for emotionally intelligent men who set real boundaries.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
