I hate to break it to you, but the extremist parts of both movements are toxic.

We had an issue like here in NYC recently at a public pool where Orthodox Jewish Women were given specific hours to swim because they "cannot swim with men". In order to swim during those times you must be a Woman and must obey their modesty laws. I find it absolutely ridiculous whether it is for religious purposes or not. Many Women have told me they want the "female only" hours because Men have harassed them at the pool. That is just not a long term solution to harassment, no matter what side …

Yeah it's way less a "political" issue and more of a quality issue haha. I also just dislike pink and pink stuff, so I mostly avoid it.

The price is comparable, but for me Men's Deodorant works better and usually has a higher quantity per unit (3-4oz vs. 2.5-3oz)—maybe because your armpits are bigger? Haha!

100% agreed. I honestly don't know what to call myself these days because I don't really want to be associated with either group. I personally don't want to live my life feeling like I'm either a Victim or a Villain. That doesn't mean I don't care about the issues, but the extremes on both sides don't really seem to understand that.

Exactly. I also find that for almost every single feminist argument there is a parallel Men's rights argument right beside it. It happens both ways so often, just for different reasons. Whether it's infantalizing to Women or Discrimination against Men it is still happening. I wish everyone could work together and realize we are fighting similar fights.

You're right, it's not your job. That's not the point in trying to make. I'm not making a gender distinction. I guess people have no right to feel comfortable in their own neighborhoods or on the streets in which they live. Cat calling isn't a gender issue, it happens both ways and it's not ok either way. I've been cat called by men And women. When someone cat calls me I turn around, walk over to them and kindly ask them to say what they said again but this time to my face. They almost always do…

What are you talking about? Jumped the gun a little bit there, buddy. You're just inserting and perceiving male hatred any time you see a woman. I'm talking about a rational fear a man might have. The fear that saying something to the other man who is cat calling a woman could get himself beat up. All because he feels he must "protect the woman." Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I'm against you. You read what you wanted to read and only quoted half of what I actually said. You're doing the …

What if someone is being cat-called, then harassed, then threatened, and subsequently touched on a subway train and [they] are saying "I do not know this person, I am afraid they are going to follow me home." Would you help then? Because no one helped my friend and thankfully the police were on one of the platforms and helped them. I'm just wondering because you seem to think that all cat-calling is harmless. I feel like extreme situations is what this poster is talking about, even if it is a fu…

I mean, personally, I would never claim "sexual harassment" at respectful, albeit unwanted attention from a male. I've been asked out at work fairly often and have just politely declined. I'm sure it happens, but I would guess you're probably shamed less for being a respectful human being than if you say, yell and whistle at a woman on the street and comment on her body. Same goes for women as well. I think those are the types of advances we are talking about here. Threatening, harassing advance…

While that might be true for you, it's not necessarily true for everyone. As you have said before in this thread, you can't speak for everyone. None of us can. I can only give my experience, and that is my experience. I think it's a little bit presumptuous to say that most Women would not be bothred by a cat call from an attractive male when you aren't really positive of that fact, and especially because you have shut down other people making the same type of argument. This goes a lot further th…

Unless they're attracted to or interested in the person making the pass. I'll have to disagree with you there. I've had people who I would have otherwise been attracted to cat call me and I still considered it to be rude and invasive. Also, recently my friend was talking with a male on a subway platform that was flirting with her (and her with him) and he followed her on the train (going the wrong direction from where he lived) and was going to follow her home. He was also yelling at her about h…

Attractive men get cat called on the street fairly often. They actually get touched often as well. Hair, muscles, etc.
/r/MensRights17/09/15 06:09 PM

I am cat called multiple times a week. You get used to it and learn to ignore it. Once someone pulled their dick out in front of me on the train. Either way, Men aren't the only ones that need to "speak up" when people do this, Women can do it too.

Haha, right? Unfortunately the "looks" portion of this is not at all enforceable, and is pretty dumb to include. Girls do the same thing to guys all the time. With that said, I've never had a girl look at me seductively on the NYC subway and pull her pussy out of her pants and into my face, haha. Although if she could, I'd be impressed if anything.

Unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature is pretty self-explanitory. An "unwanted phrase" that is "sexual in nature" such as "I wanna suck those big fat tits, girl!" would be sexual harassment. Pretty sure we aren't talking about people Whistling a tune, haha. However, "visual sexual" conduct is debateable. I have indeed been looked at in sexual ways and then followed but you cant really enforce "looking at someone."

I understand what you are saying. A lot of my single friends have said the same thing. People kind of just fade away instead of being honest. I don't think it has to do with attractiveness. I've seen the ability to find love in all different kinds of places and in all different kinds of people. Awkward silence is a tough one, and I think it is something that can make or break a date. I always find that asking people questions about themselves (based on what you already know from their profiles) …

I think she meant something in her game on her phone dying? I'm not sure.

Holy. Fucking. Shit. That is some white trash bullshit right there and just when the verbal abuse wasn't enough she decides to resort to violence. Over what? A game on her phone? Jesus Christ. You are right, if he didn't film it he would have no proof. It is clear that he has seen this before and has gotten involved before. It's also clear that hasn't been working. This was the one time he thought of another solution. Also, everyone knows you just tickle someone to get your phone back.

/r/MensRights14/04/15 07:56 PM

This exactly. I'm on both sides of all of the issues, and both sides are making pretty terrible decisions when it comes to getting their message heard.

/r/MensRights05/02/15 04:03 PM

I'm on both sides of the issue, because choosing a side is counterintuitive and hypocritical. However, I do not use the term feminism to define myself. I'm basically an egalitarian. I care about all the issues. I find that this subreddit can be as bad as the feminist subreddits sometimes. Calling Women "scum" and things like that. But occasionally there are some great conversations, stories, and articles.

Right? If they want to be a part of it then they should apply. If not, they should shutup. Someones doing it, who cares if it's White Men. It kind of seems like they are saying "But oh the Women aren't getting any attention for it."
/r/MensRights04/02/15 10:25 PM

Men are expendable, and no one cares if they suffer, or die. Wow. You really think people think that?
/r/MensRights04/02/15 09:58 PM

I think what they are trying to say with many of these campaigns is that Women, as a whole, don't focus on heart health issues as much as men do because you don't hear about Women having heart attacks as much as men. I think they are trying to say "It happens to Women too, and this is how many, so go to the damn doctor."

I would say it's rare, in my experience, for a Woman to be the "spreader" but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Pinning a gender in any circumstance gets us nowhere, whether our confirmation bias tells us it does or not.
/r/MensRights22/01/15 04:24 PM

Yes, and that's a problem that Women need to address. We can't expect everyone else to fix everything for us.

I guess I've always seen it as: You normally get to negotiate your salary, right? So how can we all get paid the same? It's been proven that, generally, Women aren't as great at negotiating as Men. Whether that's backed by some sort of social issue, I'm not sure, but either way. Women should just negotiate better or fix whatever is making them negotiate less. However, this one girl at my job was so good at negotiating that she got a huge salary and huge benefits and even stock options. I don't u…

Yeah, you're definitely right about that, but people are still saying that only women take up room with bags. However, when I see a person who is in the way I just ask them to move. It's not that hard, haha. Worse than the "spreaders" is the pole leaners. Ugh.
/r/MensRights21/01/15 07:00 PM

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. And half these people don't even ride the subway.
/r/MensRights21/01/15 06:33 PM

For all the people talking about Women and their bags, that's the same as saying only Men sit with their legs spread. Also, they have made the bag thing an issue. You can be issued a ticket if you take up a bunch of seats with your bag like that, or even your feet. I've seen it happen. It goes both ways.

/r/MensRights04/12/14 06:06 PM

I wouldn't say it's a female issue. It's not a gender issue, it's a street harassment issue.

Think of the people that have harassed you, do they all fit in a certain demographic? Honestly, they don't. I have been harassed and followed by homeless men, normal people in my neighborhood of all races and genders, people with mental issues, men in business suits, and people who were seemingly "normal." I'm not saying that women don't do shitty things on the street. Certain Women do just as much bad shit as certain men do. It's never "all women" or "all men." Creating a war against men or wom…

I'm just saying that I don't think that many people or many women think it's acceptable. We can't talk about "all" women just like we can't talk about "all" men. I certainly don't think it was acceptable.
/r/MensRights06/11/14 06:16 PM

The OP was commenting about the difference between the video and the picture of the target kid, and how saying hi to a woman isn't acceptable but posting some guys photo is. I'm saying I don't think many people think posting some guys photo and objectifying him is acceptable.

We've said tons of things back to her, she acts so dumb that all shes doing is shooting herself in the foot. I even tried to mention it in a language she would understand by saying "Many Men put their phone in their pockets so it wouldn't make much sense for them to want it bigger." She's never going to change, it's not even worth it anymore. Everyone just laughs at her and talks about how dumb shes being. I wouldn't agree that it's sexual harassment, but it's certainly sexist and dumb.
/r/MensRights19/08/14 06:50 PM

I bring this up all the time to my friends and my fiancé. Most of the commercials are the mother and her children ganging up against the father for doing something "stupid." The message is usually "Why did I let him do this, why didn't I do it myself? Next time I'll buy or do _______ so I don't have to deal with his incompetence again."
/r/MensRights13/03/14 02:25 PM

Oh you're totally right about the "man's wallet" part. I was focusing more on the physical body of the female. As in my right to have an abortion, not my right to have a child and force a man to pay for it. That has always seemed ridiculous to me.

I know of sex parties that charge $100+ for a male and about $20 for a female. You also can't even go if you're a single male. You have to arrive with a woman or be partnered. I don't really get it.

Well, I'm not a feminist. I'm glad you figured it out. Try not to be so defensive, sheesh.

As a woman the only things I feel should specifically be fought for are the right to vote (which isn't a problem in my country, thankfully) and the right to use my reproductive system and body as I see fit (i.e. Abortion) Other than that I fail to see anything else that doesn't also affect men around the world.

I never said I agreed with feminists. I agree with you and most of the people in this thread, that is why I subscribe. I am not a feminist, and am a Woman. You can calm down and tone down the swearing please. All I was saying is that feminism used to be a clear and necessary movement back when there were clear rights that were being taken away, but I don't really believe it is necessary anymore. There's a huge difference between people who are actually feminists in the egalitarian sense, and people who think all men are evil. I prefer not to even use the term feminist because of the connotation it now has due to the idiotic actions of Women.

It sucks that feminism has turned into such bullshit these days. I refuse to use the term to describe myself. It's just so pathetic how women have ruined everything they worked for in the first place, and refuse to recognize the rights of men when the need is so blatantly obvious. [I'm not sure why it's so hard to be on both sides.]

Yeah. I agree. When people write things like this on facebook it only furthers the cause for equality. I love when the bigots come out of their shell as well.

In my lifetime I've had 3 male OBGYNs and one Woman. I've always preferred the men. They take you through what they are doing and take a lot more care. Women just prod around.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
