“It’s a harsh reality,” as she put it. “I often look in the mirror and wonder whether this whole feminism thing backfired on me.” Literally them.

Ugh, don't wanna be that guy, but while BAT99-98 is really really big it's actually not that dense at all. If you could find a big enough pool of water, it would float in it. So while it's still great for making jokes with, they'd have to be about how fat she is, not stupid.

Um.. its actually just ONE person.. There's two sets of tweets from two different people.

Indeed. Wo and Wif denoted female, and the mostly now defunct Wer denoted male. Man was everyone.

Statements like this are very much part of the problem. What if she was a perfect ten? Would you no longer have an issue with it?

Django: You want me to play a black slaver? Ain’t nothin’ lower than a black slaver. A black slaver is lower than the head house nigger, and, buddy, that’s pretty fuckin’ low.

Don't check it now, it's terrible. A bunch of women telling her that her experiences are meaningless. One even says that the days of men getting the shaft in custody battles is a thing of the past. It's pretty ugly.

Harper and Quinn are both pretty upset that someone's hedging in on their extortion game. I wonder if it's because they realize a tool like this would have gone a long way to working against them during their own scandals?

He's still an extreme element actively being fought by his fellow party members though, which fits the bill of this topic.

Ha, didn't see that. I blame mobile fat-fingering. I'll own it and keep it, though.

We're about to see the right handle the same situation with Trump, though some would say they've already failed the test by letting the Tea Party take over their core. SWJs are the Tea Party of the left.

I was looking for it too, turns out there's a link most of the way down the imgur page. Links to LiveLeak: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=1b2_1422062015

It's staggering how many people he had to decapitate in parking garages and empty warehouses to become the one true nice mod.

I was actually going to make a thread about that distinction here last night as the news was breaking but decided against it because I couldn't tell if I was being petty or not. I think that dilemma in itself is telling.

Same here. Despite my absolute loathing of the word, I recall distinctly cringing when she said it. Clip was painful as a whole to watch, but that part was the highlight.

It's true. I'm a huge fan of his, but elevatorgate really shook my faith in the guy. And now this. I'd really prefer he kept his feminist rants off of his astronomy blog. Ranting is fine, just please keep the two separate. It's not what I signed up for.

I actually just watched today's show, he goes into it a bit more and is definitely pro #notallmen. Good to see from a relatively public figure.

This comment chain is in response to this post by Phil Plait, the Bad Astronomer. Orange is sounding a bit like this guy, and it's really, really sad to read.

The best system I've heard for this is that you lose one dollar of compensation for every two you make, ending compensation from the government when you crest the $40k mark. This incentives the person to work as they won't be penalized as harshly for it.

Delta is used as shorthand in the sciences to denote the change in a value (for instance, going from a value of 5 to a value of 3 has a delta of 2). It's used in /r/changemyview to formally tag posts that have changed the view/mind of the reader. Sort of like gold/flair.

Yes and no. Your (legit) whois info is held securely by the registrar, and when queried they return obfuscated info, typically either the contact information of their administrator or a shell email account that either forwards to them or forwards to you. Something like [email protected]

I was actually agreeing with kanuk and expanding on his point. What someone says, what anyone says, or any organization, club, movement, government, etc, means nothing compared to their actual actions. In the case you knew I was agreeing and I misread your comment, then yes. Exactly like a door-blocking protest.

Judge a movement everything by its accomplishments, not its words. A powerful and useful generalization. Words are empty, actions are immutable.

Today, only 20% of senators are women. Honestly, that shouldn't be a metric of success. Should the amount of female senators match the gender ratio exactly? Should the gender breakdown of all jobs match the gender ratio exactly? By that same token the argument can be made that there are very few male child care workers, or male teachers are on the decline, so obviously there's a problem with discrimination there. Either reason is bad.

Actually, hasn't that been used as a rape defense before? I recall someone walking in on a "rape", and the defense used the argument that the only way the witness could have seen the female is if she was on top, therefore it couldn't have been rape. Then again, it might have been on TV (as in, a show), can't remember exactly.

You want to tell my dad, who some days can't even rise out of bed, that what he has is bullshit? You want to call him a clown for being wracked with pain so badly that he can't chew his food, let alone sit at the table to eat it? How about telling him right to his face that he's a hypochondriac while he was going through morphine withdrawal from switching to a new painkiller because his doses were getting dangerously high? No, you're the pompous assfuck, thanks. It might not be fully understood,…

It's not really easy to spend 20k a month on a child. It's not easy to spend that much on anyone unless you're being borderline retarded with it. 20k a month is 240k a year, which would place that child comfortably in an upper-class income bracket, and automatically land them in the top 2.5% of earners in the US. 240k is a ludicrous volume of cash for anyone, let alone a child. A quick google search shows that at 20k/month, you could start saving in January and have paid for an entire year at Ha…

Except their situation sounds like it has nothing to do with imbalanced gender expectations, and everything to do with poor financial choices. I don't really understand the relevance of your story.
