I think you’re talking about a bygone era honestly

How dumb can you possibly be to not get it: most women don’t care about being single anymore. Especially if they don’t want kids. Women would rather be single than with the majority of men. If a woman is considering a man and she changes her mind, it’s because being single is better than anything most men can offer and she got turned off. Like ????? ??

Thank you lmao, you can really see the education gap at work in some of these posts smh

“40 to 60 years of companionship and love”? From the gender that overwhelmingly wants to date 20 year olds? More like 40-60 years of your husband jerking off over teen porn lol Literally no part of it is desirable. Y’all really showed your hand with the okcupid study, women know you don’t care about companionship and love. When older men hit on me It makes me so mad because it just shows that I’m literally a thing to use to them, and they think I should be flattered by that? You know we have not…

I think you’re confused about two things Women’s options may lower with age, but they still have more options proportionally than men their age. A billionaire who becomes a millionaire is still doing a lot better than someone whose risen out of poverty into the middle class, ya know? I think you’re conflating entitlement with standards. Studies have shown that relationships and marriage are in general a way better deal for men. Many women are aware that the standards they have for a relationship…

My friend your youth was your best too. The fact that men on this sub are trying to argue their way out of senescence lmao

I really do not think the “biological approach” we see on this sub is coming from anyone with any actual education on the subject tho lol

Thats amazing lmao I don’t remember how I found this sub, but it was about a year ago. At first I made all these good faith attempts to show that the rp beliefs they were throwing around as facts had no evidence to back them up. But the truth is that it’s like a religion to a lot of these guys, and no amount of evidence is gonna persuade them otherwise. If they were actually looking for the truth behind gendered differences in dating they would look outside echo chambers like this one. I just ho…

No it’s not, it’s that it has no method of testing and the vast majority of work coming out of the field is considered to be really poor by scientists in closely related disciplines.

Honestly I gotta assume most educated people wouldn’t find this sub to be worth their time.

They do! As I mention in my post and title lol.

To be clear, of course our behaviors are evolutionarily derived! The problem is that the field of evo psych as it stands has no method of testing it’s theories, and likely never will. so theories can be pulled out of thin air, or more often formulated to serve a specific goal, as RP does. You can make up a story for anything, just don’t pretend it’s hard science basically.

This is true, but although many of us love to play armchair psychologist lol, psychology is a much older field which has managed to tighten its methods of testing over the decades. Psychology in its early days played a very similar to evo psych now, and did a lot of damage. Hopefully we have learned from our mistakes in trusting unsubstantiated beliefs as any kind of science.

I’m not a scientist, and looking at actual scientists opinions now it is becoming clear to me that they have much better reasons than I do for why evo psych is not a respected field as it stands. I encourage everyone in this thread to do some research about how scientists in similar fields feel about evo psych. Evo psych is an extremely flawed field because it has no scientific method of testing, and on top of that it is a very convenient means to an end goal, often racism or misogyny. It’s real…

That’s fair, it was very much a middle of the night train of thought type thing. It could have been better organized and thought out for sure. I guess it’s just a really long winded way of saying that evo psych is not science, it’s pseudo science, and it might be good to be aware of that before you make it the foundation of your belief system.

It’s about even these days, because women only care about “social dominance and resource providing” when they have to rely on a man for those things. They do not anymore.

Adam driver is very tall and has a great physique with low body fat. That’s like the tippity toppity ideal body for women. So they’re willing to worry a little less about his face lol.

Men unionized to make 99.99% of history patriarchal rule lmao. The reason men’s rights groups will never take off is because y’all are dumb as shit and all of your beliefs are founded on pseudoscience.

What he’s saying is that yes there are plenty of men with these characteristics, but they aren’t anymore “hardwired” than any of the insane notions doctors and scientists had about women 100 years ago. These sorts of men want you to think think those characteristics are hardwired, because it means you’ll accept that all men are like that and settle for one of them.

Honestly, noted. FDS could learn a thing or two from you lol

I think you’re mistaken that the list of “male” attributes are hardwired. It’s really just rollover sexism from when men had the privilege to be sexual creatures and women did not lol. A lot of studies are quoted in this article which shed light on how women actually crave sexual variety more than men: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/02/women-get-bored-sex-long-term-relationships/582736/ And are overtaking men in interest in polyamory: https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-…

Account got banned, ironically because I sarcastically made a comment about “all women” lol. I like this question! I think there’s a lot of quantifiable differences, the obvious physical ones, hormonal differences leading most notably to higher levels of aggression in men. Some differences in brain activity! From what I have read in studies that account for socialization, quantifiable “nature” personality differences point towards women in general being more interested in and adept in skills inv…

My account got banned because I didn’t add /s to a sarcastic comment lol. To answer your question about what women have been doing for centuries I would point you to just about any women’s magazine. There’s a reason the bechdel test is a thing. Women were and are very focused on what appeals to men. Probably in part as a holdover from when landing and keeping a husband wasn’t just your romantic life, it was a woman’s career. Literally men would go to work, and women would take care of the kids a…

You want the benefit of patriarchal culture, but not the downsides. I doubt a movement on that flawed a premise would gain momentum in a similar way to the feminist or civil rights movements.

No, and I really tried Edit: it seems like the women saying yes are mostly saying “we were friends and the attraction grew later”. I’m guessing those men already passed the baseline standard of attraction, you just had a platonic relationship. I think op is asking if someone who you found unattractive/did not pass that standard, ever became attractive later. And I think we’d see some very different answers with that context.

I’m an attractive woman. Not a model, but above average. When I first started dating I believed that men will use any woman for sex, but commitment meant that a man really cared about you. In part I think I was projecting my own high standards for a relationship onto men, if I don’t really love someone I’m not going to be in a long term relationship with them. And when I love someone, that it, they’re my person & I wouldn’t trade them for anyone. But what I’ve realized is that many men will sett…
