A twelve years old child isn't a 5 year child. A twelve years old child may have the physical strength to overpower older minors, or even adults. Especially women and girls. He may even have the intellectual capacity of tricking them. Maybe it was his babysitter, they were playing jumping rope and he managed to tie her hands and legs.
