How horrible it would have been for you to see your Mom attacked, thrown to the ground and convulsing.. no kid would think "oh yes, my Mom deserved that, I understand now", it doesn't work like that for kids (what are they, between 3 and 10 years old??). Even still, no kid deserves to see their Mom like that, even if she was in the wrong.
