This is the most powerful one for me. The way they manage to capture the fear, anxiety, and pain on both sides of the interaction just tears me apart.

They say not to compliment because many men don't have the confidence needed for this to be sexy, especially when they begin. Unless you're very confident, a compliment usually comes off very neckbeardy.

If they look hard enough they'll find it. The follow up question might be "well if they're beginners, how would they be able to discern genuinely prolific PUAs like James Marshall and RSD Tyler from the average charismatic guy looking to make a quick buck?" Answer, they go out and try it. They try it and fail with the stuff that is hollow until they find something that resonates with them. Something a lot of people don't realize about pickup is that your strategy has to be you. If you're a low e…

It's pretty good, but I'm of the firm belief that a kiss is almost always the best response. There are some scenarios where it wouldn't be appropriate and this would be a good fall back though.

100% agree. I think some people come here expecting to find some manifesto that if they follow to the letter will turn them into a natural pick-up god, but aren't really willing to have honest and brutal discussions about their shortcomings. One thing that disappointed me and really turned me off from the sub: I wrote up a 'negative FR' or a failed attempt that I wanted to discuss where I went wrong. I framed it as a constructive discussion and really tried to avoid any instance that sounded whi…

Very little of substance, and not even just lately, ever if I'm being honest. I learned pick-up for the functional aspect and was never that passionate about it. Don't get me wrong, the teachings have completely changed my life, but as much as I want to give back, I feel like my revelations have been shared before. And I'm a passionless academic writer, not a storyteller like most of the successful posts here. I had an idea for a post earlier this week after having a little epiphany about why my…

This sub is a shell of what it once was. It's no fault of the moderators either, the people with the knowledge just got better at monetizing it, and now everyone is trying to copy them instead of contributing for contribution's sake.

It's just a different way of leading the interaction. You open up, she opens up, you reward her by opening up a little more. She still has to earn everything beyond the first leap, which you have to make, because you're a man leading the interaction.

Think you're too far down the rabbit hole of seduction. You're so deep you're forgetting the two things EVERYONE knows you NEVER talk about with a girl you're trying to get with: her age and weight. Just talk to her how you want to, don't let age be a factor, and if it's important to you, find a more subtle way to screen for it.
/r/seduction13/07/16 05:36 PM

Little bit deep on the psychoanalysis for a reddit post. There's no reason for OP to end it, he just shouldn't invest too heavily because she seems flaky.

Her hooking up with him despite his neediness wouldn't be super rare if he's attractive. A girl is willing to put up with a certain amount of shit to get laid, just like men are, but you're right, it's unlikely. It's also possible that he's a charismatic guy, maybe even learning seduction, and just reverted back to his AFC behaviours once he was in a relationship. I did it in my first relationship after I started learning this stuff. Ended the exact same way. We banged for awhile, I kept pushing…

It's been posted before, but hotel bars are goldmines for this type of hook-up. High-strung business woman, lonely in a new city. If you can't be successful with that, take it as a sign you need to work on your fundamentals.

At it's very core, seduction is telling someone what you want from them in a way that makes them want to do it for you. Everything beyond that is details. With that in mind, think about OP's question. If you don't make it clear what you want, how do you expect to get it?

I probably wouldn't even text until a few days before returning. Women aren't like men in that their interest fades over time. If a woman sees you as a viable sexual partner, that isn't going to change with time unless they get bored talking to you or they start dating someone or something. Sure they'll forget about you a bit, but when you put yourself back into their field of awareness, you'll be right back where you started or at least close. Perfect example, had some serious charge with a fri…

It's not like flipping a switch, that's not how your brain works. It's like learning anything, repetition makes you better. The problem is, you've been repetitively conditioned to think that all women will reject your advances. Whether it be from you doing it wrong, or media spouting the same narrative over and over, in your brain, the most primal parts are telling you, this is going to end badly, turn the fuck around and go home. But luckily, we've evolved to have some power over those primitiv…

Well, you don't have to walk around wearing a sign, but it's generally a good idea to not lead people on. If you're escalating things physically, make sure she knows your intentions, especially if you're a younger guy. Some girls are fine with hookups, some girls want more, and some girls think that hookups entitle them to the 'more' part. Those are the ones that you just walk away from immediately, they cray. A good idea for timing is to set your rules once you're in a scenario where things cou…

This will work on a lot of guys who don't know their worth. If she's really as gorgeous as you say, she can go for the top percentile guys and a lot of them won't put up with anyone, guy or girl who plays games like this.

It would be distressed too mr moderator, I would be too. I used to be quite active on the sub. Submitted discussions, wrote FRs, tried to give advice and share my experiences. Yeah, getting a number has a pretty high success rate if you can open. It's easy for a girl to give away her number instead of being awkward and rude to a nice guy who isn't being a creep. She's just not interested, so you won't get anywhere. There's some success in that though for the real beginners. I know back in my awkward formative years I could've filled the spank bank for days if a pretty girl even smiled in my direction. Every step up is a step in the right direction. Going from no #-clo…

It's just a problem with the sub's popularity. When I joined, there were about 40,000 subscribers, and there was a very active base of skilled players discussing the theory and their experiences. The discussion was a high enough level that people just getting into it could contribute, but they would often get corrected and pointed in the right direction by the veterans. Tried this with a text blunder I made a year ago. It described what happened, what I did wrong, why it didn't work, and what I should've done better. It was not received well. I used to read FRs when I was getting started. It was a good way to overcrowd the AA thoughts and start developing a better mindset. Once you get a little bit more experience though, the mindset is already there and you have to sift through a lot of bragging to glean any useful information. It's just a hidden problem of th…

Don't phrase it then, if you define something, then it has a definition, if you go with the flow and don't stress about what it all means she is less likely to as well. Be obvious about your interest, set up a situation for easy escalation, do so, engage in rummpus hummpus. If she stops you and asks for the serious convo about what it means, just be completely open and honest about what you want.

It won't make much sense til you're on the otherside, or at least understand it. I could talk for awhile about it, but given the subreddit, ill narrow it to seduction: shit tests. Shit tests were the biggest holy shit moment I've had since I started reading. They sounded so unusual when I heard of them that I didn't even believe they were a thing. Once I started realizing that I could ignore/amplify these ploys and turn the tables on the tester, it was like seeing the world in colour. It totally…

I've never really looked into personality types, but I looked into it and it's funny, an INTJ is almost an exact description of myself before I got into pick-up. INTJ's seem to be typified by a very good barometer of what people are entitled to, for everybody but themselves. Naturally, that leads to certain deficits and feelings of inadequacy, which was the biggest mindset change for me when I really got into this stuff.

i have a quarrel with this. It's not 'un-alpha' to conform. It is not un-alpha to follow someone. There are many situations in pick up and in the world where you may have to follow someone. Resisting that will make you 'un-alpha' very quickly. To me, this community has kind of overshot this whole being alpha thing. It's not a message to become a social dictator, it's a message to not be dictated by society. There is a very important distinction there. Lions lose no sleep over the opinions of she…

I'm going to quote the immortal words of Kanye West and tell you that you have to crawl before you ball. The reason you kind of floundered here is because you don't really believe you can pull this stuff off yet, so you're forcing yourself into this "pick up persona" that isn't really you... Yet ;) She said you don't know what you're doing because you don't appear to, what you're doing feels unnatural and forced. He is completely secure in his own presence and body. He has no apparent need to prove himself to anyone through his words. He doesn't have this belief that if he doesn't say the right thing all the time, girls won't be attracted to him. He is a man of few words, but when he does open his mouth, it'd be worth your while to listen.
/r/seduction17/06/13 05:17 PM

Yup, the authors of the definitive guide of body language would argue that more women then men actually initiate the interaction. Guys are just too oblivious to pick up on it. They tell a story of an average looking guy who could walk into a crowded room and leave half an hour later with a woman (sounds familiar huh?). He was an expert on noticing the early signals of attraction.

Nah, the Coolidge Effect is more about females wanting to monopolize a male's attention and resources and males wanting to spread the love to new partners. If this were the underlying reason most relationships would end with the woman trying to latch on and the man trying to get away but after a few months together it's usually much more complicated than this.

I'd just forget about it. There's plenty of other women out there that won't fuck with your head like that. And don't stoop by trying to make her jealous on purpose, that's highschool bullshit. If you actually just move on like you're not phased by whatever she's trying to pull you'll get the same result in a much more mature way. I'd have to read the method to get a better understanding of how they conducted this study but two major things stuck out for me. The fact that there is no mention if birth control. And the fact that they used a repeated measured design. Birth control has been shown to have profound effects on female preferences, in fact an entire line of research in of my the labs in my dept is devoted to parsing the preferences of those who take it and those who don't. I kind of resent that comment. While I would definitely agree that some questionable findings do get published from these fields, it shouldn't cheapen the pursuit of any other scientist. I dabbled with both evo psych and neuroscience in my undergrad. While you may think attractiveness ratings may be "softer" than neuronal recordings, both are subject to sources of error, and conclusions made from both still rely on the same windows of statistical significance. Science is science, you can either …

As an evolutionary psychologist, I've actually done a fair bit of research on the subject. Findings are slightly different across groups of researchers but the main message is the same: Beards make you manly, not sexy. Men with facial hair are perceived to have more social dominance, or are more alpha male because prominent facial hair signals high testosterone. Attractiveness is usually about the same, (sometimes slightly less, but these findings are usually not statistically significant). Take…

I usually have decent success, light conversation jokes, etc through talking. But I've gotten lucky with my looks and like OP, it's not really necessary. Good things really start to happen when I hit the zone and just start to talk to amuse myself. If you want to stay out of the friendzone, stay out of the friendzone. It's as simple as that. The reason so many guys end up there is because in long game, they fail at maintaining sexual tension and they resolve it by changing interactions to something less sexual, eventually identifying themselves to their crushes as friends and not a sexual interest. [edit: they still try to manipulate these girls into sexual situations when the opportunity arises, but they're so damn dependent on getting at…

Realizing it was internalized. Numbers aren't a big deal for me but once I realized I don't have those chode habits and behaviours anymore, even with a girlfriend, it was a pretty awesome moment. After I started dating my first girlfriend after learning seduction I completely forgot how to maintain that attractive aura and it didn't end well, like a house built on sand. For a relationship t…

This. The excessive 3 minute tonguefest on the dance floor, in the corner, wherever is no good. Releases a lot of sexual tension and not to mention also pretty tacky. A solid 4-5 second kiss every once in awhile is enough. You need to maintain the vibe that she is coming along on an adventure with you, not that your adventure was a success once you got the make out. The key is to never be doing one thing for too long, be it dancing, getting drinks, talking, playing drinking games or kissing. Kee…

I've asked people how it's different from putting on make up, or going to the gym. The type of guys who stick with this are in it to better themselves, not just to rack up kills. Those guys are looking for a magic bullet and get bored and discouraged when it doesn't work out right off the bat. Never apologize for trying to make yourself a better human. If you're completely convicted in what you believe, people don't really have a choice between accepting it or ignoring you.

that's the essence of seduction, bro. You have to create a space where escalation doesn't feel uncomfortable and is welcomed. You can either try to tailor your approach to each specific girl, which could work but would be incredibly strenuous, or do what OP says, make yourself someone who walks around in a bubble of that comfort space.

it's not acting disinterested, in fact it's not acting at all. if you go into an interaction hoping to get something out of it, eg acting interested, it's going to come off needy. when guys get with girls it's because they just didn't care what the outcome was. both people were free to be themselves and express themselves openly, which is exactly what this post is talking about. if you approach a woman with the sole intention of hooking up, how do you think she is going to feel about talking to …

I'd never be so bold to say that a prediction based on this would be right 100% of the time which is how you're making me sound. You're bringing this tip to us as a way to avoiding flaking. Well words should be obvious. As for body language, most people are very aware, almost uncomfortably so sometimes, of their body language, especially people who are successful at this. I know I had some weird experiences after reading some of the more popular books like Oh, I'm displaying that I'm closed off, Stop That! Or she crossed her legs, go time. when in reality these things had not nearly the effect on the interaction as I thought they did. Women are super in tune with body language and …

This seems hollow to me. It's a straw man kind of ploy, and you can hear it. The only reason women are responding to this is because he believes it's going to work and he becomes more confident when he sets it up. Really listen closely when he sets his play in motion, you'll hear his voice deepen and slow in cadence. Text them something random you'd text your buddy or roommate. One of the best things I've ever learned since reading PUA literature, text like you're already in the middle of a conversation. This is genius, I stumbled onto this by accident a few days ago. I met a girl a few weeks ago and I was having trouble getting her to relax while talking to me. We were talking about birthdays and I mentioned how I missed back when birthdays were about go karts and laser tag. It was like I had picked the lock and the doors flew open because instantly we were deep in a hilarious conversation reminiscing and talking about how we want to play laser tag together.

I would see a sleep therapist then. My friend had a similar problem, he would wake up in a pseudoparalysis. I can't say for certain but if I were to guess there is some malfunction in how your brain recalibrates itself between REM sleep and wakefulness. Deep sleep is categorized by a desynchronization of how your brain perceives things, it's how you dream so much faster than real time because the conscious part of your brain is no longer slower down the process. Also why you can't really control…

I used to get terrible sleep because I wasn't letting myself unwind before bed. I would get off work in a kitchen incredibly hyper then go right to sleep. But my body wasn't actually resting for a majority of the time I was in bed, it was still coming down from the stress of closing a kitchen. It made it really tough to wake up in the morning. What types of things do you do before you go to sleep?

The Red Queen, riveting account about how human nature is shaped by evolution. Born to Run, great story about a Mexican tribe of marathon runners as well as a bunch of evidence claiming that humans evolved to be the best distance-running species on the planet.

Well, I'm not a doctor but this... deCatanzaro, D.A. (1999). Motivation and Emotion: Evolutionary, Physiological, Developmental, and Social Perspectives. Upper Saddle River, USA: Pearson Education. Print. ... is a textbook that was my first exposure to neurochemistry. Very good read, and the professor is quite the orator. He thought the course and wrote the book for it.

It's dopamine circuits man. If you think you have full control over your subconscious motivations, you're lying to yourself. But enjoy the lie :) pot is pretty awesome.

Ok, you can't be 'on' all the time. Your brain, just like any other machine has a finite amount of resources it can use to accomplish things throughout your day. If you really try to observe and notice how 'upbeat, active, 'on'' you are all day you'll notice it comes in waves. There are times when you feel unstoppable, like you could walk through a wall or lift a car. Usually this occurs about 2-3 hours after you would naturally wake up, when your cortisol is the highest. There are times when yo…

I tell you man, I took a course last year called Motivation and Emotion. About neurochemistry and the roots of you guessed it, motivations and emotions lolo. Brilliant course, brilliant textbook, learned so much about what happens subconsciously that governs a lot of our behaviour. Taking that course and experiencing what I did in the OP, it really crystallized how much a vice like weed or video games can bring you down. EDIT: Don't know if I'll be able to give up the jerk though lol, I use it a…

Courting someone like this seems so archaic to me, but I have a feeling that as I get older, it will become the norm. To be honest, kinda like it. Never had so much build up and excitement for one simple 10 second kiss before.

She wants me to teach her to play squash. It's fun, good comfort level, also private. The courts have no windows. Not sure if it totally qualifies as a 'date' per se, but it's what we made plans for at the end of the first.

Becoming alpha doesn't have tricks or behaviours, it's a state of mind. And attempting to fake it when you aren't is incredibly risky and most girls will sniff it out without breaking a sweat. They're wired to separate the cream from the chafe and do it very well. Luckily, becoming more alpha is a pretty simple process. First and foremost, lift. Exercising pumps your body full of testosterone, which will not only make you act more dominant, but will deepen your voice and make you more comfortabl…

I think these behaviours could be interpreted very differently coming from alphas vs betas/omegas. Coming from a beta it would be seen as something he needs to do to communicate worth to the woman. Coming from an alpha on the other hand, it would look as the alpha communicating that he finds the woman worthy. Even in the primate world, most beta males use courtship displays as an appeasement gesture to both sexes. It's an act of submission, showing that he knows his place. When an alpha does it …

Just go for it. It's been said before, but fortune favors the bold. The worst thing to happen is she'll dodge it or stop you. The end of the world as we know it right? If it feels right, look at her for a few seconds, smile briefly, then fucking plant one, dude.

As soon as you start thinking about what you're going to say next, you're dead in the water. A good conversation should come effortlessly. Luckily this comes with practice, just keep opening and you'll see what next steps work and what don't, I've gone through the same process. It's a learning experience, and a fun one. You get to meet tons of lovely women ;)

Second girlfriend tore my fucking heart out in November 2011. Unwittingly stumbled into a one nighter on NYE2012. Next morning I woke up with my count at three, made my new years resolution to get to ten by 2013. Didn't actually start reading any PUA stuff til December. I got to eight by new years. Had number nine while I was in Jamaica for a field course last month. Now I've made a pledge to myself that number ten will be a ten. What I've discovered about PUA culture, despite what the world mig…

Yeah you're not, Hank Moody describes it perfectly: Hank: Don't wanna be hyperbolic but I think we reached a whole new level last night. HB: Then why do you feel the need to relive it the next morning? Hank: Well it's like enjoying it all over again, without all that post-sex sadness that comes down upon one. The post-sex sadness is the feeling of "ok, i've had an incredible conquest but now its over, now what?" it sucks

Recent thing I discovered that's worked out quite well. Text as if you're already in a conversation. Start with a statement, not a question. Met a girl at karaoke on Tuesday, talked to her for a few minutes then she had to leave so I grabbed her number. Texted her Thursday saying "Just had a life changing cup of coffee, shits getting done today lol hope you're having a goo morning" (Ya, I stole it, sue me, it was my first venture into this kind of text game) We had a great little convo and she s…

You're very in danger of being friendzoned. Tread carefully. You need to walk the line of being an option for as long as you can. You pay her too much attention and eventually you'll just get allotted into the FZ. Too little and you'll be off her radar. I'd suggest pursuing something that's a little less of a minefield lol but that's just me. I'm of a simple mind :)

I've found the best way to deal with almost any cockblock is making them feel like they're stupid/overreacting to the situation in the first place. In this scenario for instance, I probably would've said something like "yeah? well he better watch out, I've got a diamond ring in my pocket for ____" or something to that effect. Embarrassment is the easiest way to pacify someone who's being obnoxious.

A key i've found is to just be 100% honest of your intentions with these types of hook ups right from the get go. Once you're in, (and preferably before sealing the deal) just lay down the reality and see what she has to say. If she's come this far she's probably will to come a little more ;) Of course, every girl is different, you never know what someone could expect regardless of what she says.

I started to type saying that there isn't the same physiological withdrawal period as things you can get chemically dependent on but I don't believe that myself. I lost 10 lbs off a 6'2" 170 lbs frame in two weeks after my second ex broke up with me. That was the two most terrible weeks of my life. Scary shit people.

Don't look at it as a weakness if you fail, look at it as an opportunity to succeed and separate yourself from the pack. That's the most evolutionary approach to take ;)

I wouldn't say I'm better than it, I'd say it just doesn't suit the kind of game I usually try to play. Having said that though, I suppose there's nothing wrong with trying to expand one's arsenal. Think I'll try going back with a little more of an open mind and a better mindset than when I was a sophomore.

It's not the same as chemical dependency, but it's analogous in the way it activates your dopaminergic reward system. Basically it's the system that makes you feel like you have to do things, eat, drink, bathe yourself. Over time evolution selected for us to seek out companionship, and in prehistoric times, constantly searching out women was probably adaptive. Now it's perceived as being needy/clingy/desperate and women will select for men who can best overcome it because they are likely the mos…

Been in this situation before, it sucks. It usually doesn't end well but I have a suggestion that will, at the very least, mitigate the fallout. Give her some space Right now, she's probably pretty confused about how she feels about you. If she likes you or she doesn't she's had a big mental block in her mind because of the fact that her friend is into you. Give her some time to figure it out and she will probably see things a little more clearly. What will probably is this, don't talk to her fo…

Oneitis is evolutionary, it's one of the biggest reasons why we're not monkeys anymore. It promoted monogamy so we would invest more in our offspring and in doing so, raised better and better children. Your brain has a reward circuit to motivate you to spend time with the 'one'. You don't think about things as logically as you used and convince yourself that ideas you would've thought were needy/beta/whatever are good ones. The person becomes like a drug for you. Luckily for all those afflicted,…

You've stumbled onto one of the first milestones of a lot of methods: Getting blown the fuck out. I'm trying a method right now where one of the first steps is to go out and get rejected at least ten times in a night. It shows you that your fear of rejection is unnecessarily high. Sure, it does suck, but not nearly as much as most people think it to be before they start trying. Sounds like you're on a good plan my friend. Hope to hear more in the future.
