Anyone ever filed and had second thoughts? If you can do that while not being separated and exist in the same house as usually from your kids perspective then why not try it. But keep in mind it takes two parties, so if you want that but she doesn’t, then forget about it. Speaking from experience I was in the same position wanting it to work on my end but she wasn’t. It takes two and the sooner you can realize you’re wasting time the sooner you can get on with your life and start improving you and your children’s quality of life. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/11/24 12:30 AM
Anyone ever filed and had second thoughts?Separation is a horrible purgatory that results in both parties suffering and more importantly if you have children, the children suffering. If you have issues in marriage then go to counseling without disrupting your children’s lives. If that’s not an option because of how far gone it is or has already been tried, then pull the plug and get the thing over with. I promise you would regret living in a state of indefinite separation more than just starting your new life fresh and getting a move on… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/24 07:17 PM
It got better, way better. (I know you’re tired of hearing this)That blows man. Nothing I can say much is likely to make you feel better, but know that if anything else there is one other person who thinks your situation will get better. For me it got worse before it got better, I dropped to that point of “I truly don’t give a fuck” neutral and numb stance. Then when the dust started settling it started getting better. Wishing you the best on your path. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/24 06:54 PM

It got better, way better. (I know you’re tired of hearing this)Hey man whatever works for you. For me having someone I could spill how I was feeling to, with a third party mindset for professional advice to give me, was indispensable. I was thankfully someone who had good friends and family willing to listen and give me feedback back as well. I always thought of it as the wider pool of feedback I can be getting on what decisions I should be making, the better. I never took any one persons advice at face value, knowing they will all be biased in some way. (M… | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/11/24 07:12 AM
It got better, way better. (I know you’re tired of hearing this)Damn man, I feel you about being good at acting. I was similar to that. Putting on a front so that no one worries, and then them just assuming everything is all good because of it. Stopping alcohol sounds like the right move at least for right now. I don’t know anything about your relationship obviously, but I can tell you this: She was definitely “wrong” for you, and don’t let that part of your brain fool you into thinking she was. If she was “right” for you she would not be putting you through… | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/11/24 05:42 AM
It got better, way better. (I know you’re tired of hearing this)I second the gym. I had already been going to the gym prior to my divorce, but I made it my second home through it and it was my biggest physical relief and daily thing to look forward to. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/24 11:31 PM
It got better, way better. (I know you’re tired of hearing this)Thanks man! I agree it’s so horrible. It really brings me back to being in the same position, so helpless and in a denial that I never would think I could sink so low as to believe as truth. It really makes me want to help in any way possible because I know seeing those success stories when I was there gave me some sort of hope. It’s messed up how common the same story is over and over again. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/24 10:55 PM
It got better, way better. (I know you’re tired of hearing this)I hear you and I’m sorry it’s dragging on. Like I said mine was relatively short and felt like it was years, I cannot imagine what it feels like when it actually takes years. I know so many guys on here advocate for fighting hard for yourself in the process. I 100% understand and agree with that to an extent, HOWEVER, I had to realize some hills were not worth dying on. I have a decree that exists now until and only if a judge signs off on something different. (Also meaning I have to do the whol… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/24 10:49 PM
It got better, way better. (I know you’re tired of hearing this)It sucks, it SUCKS so bad. There is no way around it. You could be/probably are prolonging the pain doing that if you don’t need to. However you have to get to a point where you make a decision for yourself about it, not your friends, brothers etc. Once you get there, it helps a lot. Best of luck man I truly hope and believe it will get better for you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/24 10:43 PM

It got better, way better. (I know you’re tired of hearing this)I hear you man I’ve been there. While I can’t speak to your situation I know in mine I had literally just lied to myself to justify making life work for us. I thought without the marriage every part of my life would crumble. I’ve been so surprised to find it was literally the crutch that was holding me back from being so much better. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/24 10:29 PM
It got better, way better. (I know you’re tired of hearing this)Yeah man sometimes that’s all it takes is being able to vent to someone who understands! | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/24 10:17 PM
Update: Moved out and marriage will be over in days…It’s a weird feeling isn’t it. I know what you mean about just feeling slighted in a way that isn’t right. Like why lie for so long when you could have made it easier so long ago by ending it? It sounds like your marriage wasn’t very joyful if you only had false hope of having a partner to be able to end the day with in a comfortable way every day. Just wanted to let you know you’re not alone in all those feelings, starting a new chapter could be worth more than anything else you’ve ever experie… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/24 08:55 PM
