I would suggest scheduling a meeting with him in advance, so he is expecting a long talk and it won't completely throw off his day/week. I think it is a good idea to schedule this meeting around the end of the day on the last day you work this coming week (ex: 16:00 Friday) so that way he will be able to go home without seeing you for a bit to think over it.
