There are many "results oriented thinking" crimes where it's not a crime if it went favorable, even if it's outside of one's control. I'm personally of the school of legal thought that result should always be ignored, as in there should be no difference between how the legal system treats murder and attempted murder. It's like not giving a ticket for speeding if no accident happened.

The complement of "married" isn't "single".
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/20 09:01 PM

Very good thing—marriage is silly sentimentality, a pseudocontract signed by fools that never read the terms simply because they like the label.

I don't find any particular profession or hobby attractive.

Easily, I don't give a damn—there's not a single situation I can imagine where I personally care what others an individual has sex with, marriage is definitely not one of that nonexistent set.

and there is no rule that one's lablemate needs to be the opposite sex

Every individual is single by choice; it's always possible if one lowers one's standards enough, and there is no rule that one's lablemate needs to be the opposite ex, by the way, that's just another case of "standards". It's really quite simple—many would rather be single than labelmated to an individual beneath their standards; in fact, that line where it evens out is pretty much the definition of one's "standards".

It turns out that you don't need to, and that most that get married never bothered to read the terms and only do so because they like the label.

I will almost certainly never be married, that has nothing to do with my own sex; I consider marriage foolish.

To you, not to each other. How "nice" an individual is is very much simply conditioned upon how much said individuals likes whatever party.

This is a circular argument that can be put forth against any inefficient irrational system that is ineffective; it's essentially just saying "human beings want an irrational and ineffective system, therefore it is better." That doesn't make the system better; that just means that the people make the wrong choice.

I disagree that it's particularly gendered in perception. What I do think is the reality of the situation is that females are so often socialized to completelt derive their worth from their looks that many simply don't develop a sense of humor, cool etc. Unaesthetic males more often learn to compensate by being funny or having other skills whereas aesthetic females more often chase aesthetics that they can't reach. But if the females are funny, they're perceived as funny just as much despite not…

I like how you turn the halo effect into some gendered dating thing. Yeah, most human beings have troubles viewing the individual facets of an artefact separately—they will think the plot of a film is better because its special effects are. Not sure how you managed to turn that into a genered dating thing. Like a guy can appreciate all of a girls other traits if shes ugly. Women tend to find you worthless if you're not physically attractive. Bullshit.

It's many things combined. No, it's legally pretty much just that. There's no legal requirement to be in love; there's no legal requirement to declare one's love, to live together, to not divorce in two weeks; it's completely legal to marry for the sake of transferring property tax-free and then divorce right after—it's a property situation and little more. Good point. I've never been much of a controversial person in real life. It's not that I'm afraid of harassment; the police can take care of…

I think of marriage as the public declaration that we are now a family You can then just make that declaration publicy without getting into the legals. Marriage is legally a property situation. Why do you not want people to know who your partner is? That is not the problem; the problem is blood relatives. I obviously do not want random individuals to know the identity of my parent which can open me up to a variety of things—they can look in the phone book if they have my last name and with some …

The sense is that changing one's name means that one has to be updated in a lot of records, one might be professionally known under one's name which can cause a lot of hassle—it will no doubt run into some hiccups with some organizations. I'm simply not seeing any advantage in doing so, and I'm not seeing an advantage in family names as a concept and if anything consider them a compromise of privacy—they can be used to infer what individual is related to me which should be private info. Family n…

Why do the Japanese have tea ceremonies? Why do some cultures have rites of passage into manhood/womanhood? Why did Vikings burn bodies down rivers? Why do we have funerals? All things that are very silly and impractical. Traditions aren't about being pragmatic and they aren't some kind of logical truism. They develop over time because the people practicing them see meaning in the action. No, it bears no cultural significance to me. Then maybe you should have said that it is not about signifying…

Why do anything, really? Pragmatically it's better to not have a wedding at all and just go to the courthouse. I don't get weddings either—as far as parties go they're pretty boring; most parties don't involve that much sitting around and watching boring stuff. The point is these gestures signal significance to your partner and the world that your family means something and you treat it as an inseparable unit. A name? Why not get the same first name as well then? Why not get the same haircut and…

I simply don't get why one would ever change one's name—it's simply practically better to keep one's own name. There are going to be adminstrative problems in the event one's name be changed; one might already be known professionally under one's old name; one has to update and change a lot of records to reflect the new name? Why would you want to do that? I simply see no advantage and many disadvantages. Apparently from what I understand, in Anglic culture families need a single unified name to …

In professional circles it would come up. ...when? Have you ever been asked for the name of your parents in a job interview? I'm pretty sure it's illegal to even ask such information here in one. There’s less stigma about it now but having your mother’s name is a proxy for low class mating assortment/single mom shit. Just like the name name “Shaniqua” is less predictive than “Susan”. The book “Freakonomics” addresses this idea. Maybe it is, but no individual is going to know at work what the nam…

/r/PurplePillDebate20/05/20 04:21 AM
3

How would it help them or not? I'm pretty sure it doesn't really matter one way or another including if they had the name of neither because most individuals will never really find out about this—I have my maternal parent's last name because my paternal parent was effectively a sperm donor and this only surfaces in conversation when it's specifically brought up.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/05/20 03:29 AM
3

It's not a strawman; it's just an unproven assumption that is pretty ridiculous.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/05/20 03:16 AM
5

Why though? I knew something that had its maternal parent's family name for no other reason than "we decided upon the given name first, and it sounded better with the maternal one". The paternal family name was also a foreign one that sounded kind of silly in the ears of the local population and was frequently mispronounced. If you ask me, family names are fairly useless and on top of that an invasion of one's privacy; I would prefer to just have a mononym, like Spock or Sukarno.

It legally isn't possible to take the last name of one's spouse where I live (Netherlands). You need a "good reason" to change your last name and "I want the last name of another individual I know" is not considered good enough by the courts. "good reasons" are things like "There's a celebrity with my name living in my village, and I keep getting phone calls not for me." It also isn't some new development; it was never the case; family names were only introduced 150 years back or something and i…

And individuals very much disagree on what models are attractive, with some famous models being considered downright ugly by many others. Models are like music in that sense; a #1 hit wil stil not even be found that interesting to listen to by the majority—plurality isn't the same as even majority and certainly not entirety.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/05/20 07:44 AM

99% is a vast exaggeration for many of the things said. Often it is not even a majority, perhaps a plurality. Often it's just "what my dream braindead tradwife that is vast becoming a minority finds attractive".
/r/PurplePillDebate18/05/20 07:42 AM

There's a difference between a nigh universally agreed upon standard of what is unattractive and what is attractive. And even the "no" is obviously an exaggeration. There are individuals who find morbid obesity or missing limbs highly attractive you know.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/05/20 07:40 AM
1

The only thing that is universally attractive is physique. The same rule applies here for both sexes. Everything else but this is completely arbitrary and completely unimportant, meaningless. Once you got the looks there will always be a large portion of the population that will have you as their first choice, no matter what the personality is. What is physically attractive is also quite subjective.

There was a thread on TwoX a while back that discussed that it was really more about "traditionality" than prettiness. It would surprise me if the type of individual that does that is into a more traditional look; I never get anything, but I've got dreadlocks; a friend of mine looks fairly standard and is also fat and gets it quite often apparently, but never with me next to it. "some do; some don't", I don't, and given that many watch pornography, they probably don't either. I have read a lot from authors/psychotherapists such as Esther Perel mentioning that for a woman to feel desire she needs to feel desired first. How does this work when we see countless examples of women being the pursuers? Fools make too many absolute statements.

I'm honestly entertaining the idea that "teenage rebellion" is not actually a function of teenagers but a function of cultures that excessively restrict them. I constantly see this as a cultural meme in Anglic media, but it doesn't really exist here in the Netherlands; teenagers get along fine with their parents in general and the only time I've seen it was a friend with controlling Chinese parents—Dutch parents are known to mostly let their children decide for themselves what to do and it works…

Right, because you aren't using the dictionary definition. It'd be like if I said "I define 'lying' as 'saying words,' and I think 'lying' is a useless term because everyone says words." That's not proof of anything, other than that a made-up definition is useless. Again, the dictionary uses the very vague "excessive" which all have a different interpretation of. I said it was useless because every individual has a different definition of this word. The thing with "lying" is that there is a nigh…

"concerned excessively or exclusively with oneself : seeking or concentrating on one's own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others." "excessively", and what is "excessively" here? In practice individuals just use "excessively" when they personally dislike one for it—we can surely agree that "excessively" isn't very exact science? I'm saying your use of "selfish" goes beyond that. Your personal use of "selfish" is a vacuous nothing, devoid of any substance whatsoever. I don't…

This is an incredibly pedantic point I disagree—everything one does is selfish and it's a useless buzzword typically just thrown at "I dislike you for doing it.". but if that's how "selfish" were defined it'd be a useless word devoid of any meaning and never would have existed in the first place. I find that very often useless words that just exist because they sound nice are used but when analysed have no actual underlying meaning. It's as they say the difference between a "terrorist" and a "fr…

Perhaps if you weren’t so dense, you’d understand that degree differs. Perhaps you shouldn't first make absolute statements, and then squabble back behind "relative" when they are disproven. You're moving the goalpost; your initial statements were absolute, not relative. Men don’t virtue signal. Do you actually believe this nonsense? Dude, there have been countless of experiments that showed that individuals— male or female—are statistically far more likely to pick up trash from the street and put it in a can when an actor is paid to sit on a bench and observe. Bingo—individuals that don't expect gender roles of others can easily be spotted: they don't feel a pressure to conform to them themselves. I have met many individuals who say they are but aren't. It's an ideal like "freedom of speech" that is expected in certain social circles to claim to have but in reality many human beings really do not actually support. Women of PPD, what do you think about this? If you think it's true that women have more power sexually than men, how do you feel about it and what are you going to do about it? Same with males; you just made up the rule that it has to be by a female. Grindr is thataway; if you wanna get laid per se I hear it's a very easy score. Of course a female who makes up the rule that it specifically has to be with a female faces the same problems.

Women will give you the politically correct answer that muscles don’t matter but I guarantee you this is false. No, they will give you the answer that they think it looks disgusting, in general. They don't say "it doesn't matter" and that they are indifferent, but that it looks grotesque. I started getting way more IOIs and lays after I put on decent muscle And I since I got dreadlocks—that's not a case of dreadlocks being popular; that's a case of supply and demand.

I don't expect any individual, including myself, to do so. I for one rarely experience the "issues of my gender" I commonly see talked about, and I don't really care—I feel a lot of all that stuff is just selection bias and stereotypes and with quite a few of them the statistics don't justify that it actually happens more often to that sex.

Maybe not, but you were the one talking about chromosomes and "You're either XX or XY" and Klinefelter (XXY) and Turner (XXX) are the cases where that doesn't hold; so it's directly on point of your claim. XX and XY are the 2 sexes, if you are something else, then you are an anomaly. This was your own claim. Klinefelter and Turner are not XX or XY, and thus not "the two sexes" by your very own definition.

This isn't an answer to my asking what your other post has to do with the point though. Anomalies cant dictate the majority of society who are just biologically normal people. Maybe they can't; but the existence of your claim "there are only two sexes" is still provably false and essentially tantamount to "anomalies don't exist". You also have a rather simplified understanding of human sex determination by the way; you should look up the "testis determining factor" or the SRY gene for a more tho…

People like that are not the rule. Anomalies happen, but that is not good enough reason to change sex to gender. What does it have to do with changing sex to gender? I'm just saying that "There are only 2 sexes" just isn't true; biology is very soft and inexact; gender is just a self-identified label.

"it's about what others identify the individual as" No, it isn't. If this was the case then multiple people could call the same person by a different pronoun It's almost like that is what they're doing. The parents of the prepubescent female with short hair that know will probably use "she", random bystanders use "he" because they identified it as a male. Yeah, different individuals can identify one individual as a different gender—that happens all the time. We try to figure out what their sex i…

Yeah, and then they are still a specific biological sex. The user I responded to said that individuals should still be referred to as their original biological sex in such a case; I said that it doesn't have much merit at all to refer to them as any specific biological sex.

I think you go to university in a very specific field that talks about identity politics a lot. The criticism on "softer" sciences, typically by proponents of "harder" sciences is very common and an age old debate that has been going on for a very long time that very rarely has anything to do with modern identity politics.

Yeah but neither does any heterosexual woman either, Indeed, which makes biological sex even more useless for "sexual orientations". As I said, outside of some select medical uses; it isn't very useful and doesn't say much about an individual. and that's the problem with being a tranny. It really limits your dating potential. Ah, but that is where you are mistaken about the dating market; you see it's about supply and demand. The market for "shemales" may be small, but the supply is even smaller…

I have no idea what that has to do with whether there are only two sexes or not—like what is this tangent even? I'm just saying that biology isn't a very hard science and the categories it comes up with are in general super muddy.

Its not really a reason FOR using sex, rather we already do this and dont see a reason to just suddenly not use pronouns based on sex. We don't? individuals pick pronouns based on whatever satisfies their intuition. It's not like they look into the pants of others. You really can't tell what the sex of a prepubescent human is without looking into it's pants so they just go by whatever feels like and any parent of say a male with long hair can tell you that any stranger will just assume that thei…

I've been saying this for a long time. I don't think the term "gender" even needs to exist. I think everyone should just be referred to as their biological sex despite how you act/behave/feel. This is because it doesn't matter what you feel, you can't just say you're something that you aren't. That doesn't make it factually true. Yeah, but in what everyday context is it really meaningful to refer to individual by either? Biological sex is as relevant as any other medical status really; it is rel…

There are only 2 sexes. Intersex individuals re born every day though; and the line between "healthy normal sex" and "intersex" isn't always clear. Fairly minor intersex things like Kilefelter's syndrome for instance possibly go unnoticed until they find out they're infertile and want to do some checkups so there's debate whether that truly qualifies as "intersex". I mean what's the point? If anyone can be anything why would it make sense for other people to care about it then? If anyone can identify as whatever they want, why don't they just do that and not bother others with stupid made up pronouns which sound like shit? Because almost no individual cares about what individuals self-identify as. They care about what they identify other individuals as.

Tell me, what licensed psychiatrists believes that sex is a "necessity to survive". If you have none your word is as good as mine. No, because no human being in the history of the planet has ever died from lack of sex. I hear they last about 5 minutes without oxygen.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/20 06:54 PM

Call it what you will; doesn't change that under no reasonable interpretation of "necessary to survive" is sex a necessity to survive. Housing is not even a necessity to survive; it is a necessity to lead a humane existence at best—oxygen and food are necessities to survive.

Sex is a biological imperative. Women love and need sex to survive, as do men. Ehh, you make it sound like it's oxygen or food. Sex is hardly a necessity to survive—if that were the case it would be inhumane for the government to not provide it in some way.

I always find this question to be silly because there is no function that constructs an "opposite sex version of oneself". How I would like "being male" depends of course on what specific male I would be. There's a comic book about some sex-swapping virus that infects individuals via kissing, but all it does is change genitals and grow or remove breasts—each of them keeps the exact same face to the point that most can actually hide being infected. Women do this trick where they say "Whoever asks out the other person pays" which makes them look like they believe in equality but they know they will never ask a guy out. Probably to do with that in many cultures they just don't put any effort into their appearance at all. Most of their fashion was designed for practicality, not aesthetics. It's especially obvious with prepubesccents. Male and female prepubescents physiologically essentially look the same, but the female ones are often given haircuts and clothing that exemplify aesthetics more, so they end up looking better. Hair length is a particularly interesting thing. When females are polled, apparently the …

and nearly every damn woman in that thread said bi men majorly turned them off. I don't think it's that the respondants are lying; it's just that those who are turned off by it aren't replying. It's also that OP asked "To the Women who say their number/sexual past doesn't matter" and there is probably a big correlation between not caring about that, and not caring about sexual orientations. These men don't want to date a woman who's been "used up" by other men, the same way a lot of people don't want to buy used clothing. I always found this so weird. Clothing becomes worse with wear and less functional. Sex is a skill like any other and a human being improves with every go. It's like wanting a piano teacher that has never played piano ever so it's not "used up"—no thank you, I'd prefer an experienced one.

I live in a place with unisex conscription; this is quite normal in many European places so it's not that far off. Parental rights and leaves are also unisex here; there isn't anything left in the law here I believe that nominally makes a distinction on sex. Which is why the government is phasing out sex registration here since it serves no purpose any more anyway and newborns are no longer registered with a sex in files because it doesn't matter anyway for the law what one's sex is.

It's not "reddit" per se but the way many of those redpill makes describe their sex drives meets the clinical requirements for sexual addiction. I kind of wonder if it isn't just a place for individuals that struggle with sexual addiction or some form of hypersexuality that tells them "this is a totally normal male state of affairs, this is because you're male" instead of consulting a professional that might prescribe them some drugs that would lower their libido.

The centre of mass with the tentacle monster holding up its victim is never right; it should fall over. Same with what Doctor Octopus is constantly doing. Japan seems to very much treat marriage like a business to some degree. Pseudo-arranged marriages are still somewhat common; the prospective spouses get the final say but there are basically "marriage interviews" orchestrated by both families where two prospective spouses get introduced to each other and decide whether they are compatible for marriage and get married very quickly as a matter of business. There are actually companies that facilitate this and search for likely matches.

That statistic cheats the narrative though because it doesn't add up to 100. Not even that—"abusive males" have no obligation to fix the abuse of other abusive males, only of themselves. "Collective responsibility" is such a dumb concept. One is responsible only for one's own actions.

This leads me to the SMP. Is the “disparity” in it really about hypergamy/polygyny? Are women really not that attracted to their “equals” because they have sky high standards, or do their ‘equals’ just not have innately attractive feats? Little to do with innate—it's makeup. I'm especially weirded out by males who do physical excercise to improve their beauty which is covered up 99% of the time with clothes? Do they really think that's more important than face and hair? It's also a matter of sup…

Yes it is? Individuals that suffer from either can live on bodily healthy lives with no effects. In fact, there is evidence that suggests that not undergoing puberty increases longevity. The hormone therapy they receive is purely a psychological medicine because they mentally do not like their lack of puberty. As far as the infertility from Swyer's syndrome goes, the hormonal therapy they receive will not fix that; it is purely a cosmetic effect to make them happier with their body, and given wi…

You mean people with no real strong signs of sexual charsistics don't feel dysphoria until they do display them? Shocking. You can't say "shocking" if it directly contradicts your original claim of: "It's a very scary feeling and it nags these people from a very young age "—apparently it is quite shocking to you because it contradicts your original, universalist claim. Transgenderism comes with body dysphoria, much like how you'd feel if you woke up in the wrong body one day. Not necessarily, just like gender fluidity sometimes does, and sometimes doesn't. It's a very scary feeling and it nags these people from a very young age all the way through their transition process, it's only soothed by reclaiming their bodies and making it look how they feel it should. Sometimes it does; sometimes it doesn't—I find all these universalist claims that are rarely backed u…

I think genderfluid is a crock of horseshit and is just people rejecting gender stereotypes and wanting to feel special for it. How is this different than transgender? Or saying that cisgender is embracing gender stereotypes and feeling special for it? I'm of the position that all self-identified labels are equally "valid", and with that I mean pretty darn invalid, because they are what they are: self-identified labels with no objective definition, and also typically tonnes of gatekeeping involv…

Kids are given drugs and surgeries for so many things outside of this. If you say suffer from Kallman's syndrome or Sweyer's syndrome and therefore experience an incomplete puberty they also give you the very same hormones, and in that case they really do it without telling you the effects.

Another k-pop fan? Not a fan of K-pop or most pop in the slightest; I'm just pointing out that CJK culture is a lot better at marketing attractive males for beauty rather than power. Why do k-pop and j-pop fans think that women in general are attracted to those guys? It's so obviously not true. And even in western countries being pale was idolised in the past. Yeah, and then it was idolized to be tanned. North-Europeans are also not paler than East-Asians. Neither has anything to do with race; the reason that in the 1500s being pale was idolized was simple: rich individuals sat inside and so were paler; then around the 1920s being tanned became idolized because rich individuals were the ones that could afford vacations to the sun. As in they would be less attractive than now? Evidently they're attractive now; I take it we can agree that it's a fact that they have legions of screaming fans, surely if they were accountants that attractiveness would not magically waver? It’s not that women don’t enjoy sex. It’s a question of value. If a woman wants sex, she can find sex 99 percent of the time. All she needs is about ten minutes and a cell phone. So can males; in both cases just not with an individual they want sex with— There is no rule by the way that males can't have sex with other males in this game.

But that is not the criterion they use. The criterion they use is "Is it in our commercial interest to quarantine it?" It just happens that claiming it's about "hatred" or other vague things is also in their commercial interest, but I can practically guarantee that the actual arguments at reddit HQ for deciding this cite advertisement revenue and publicity.

I mean, there are unclear cases when the person in the pic could be adult and could be not. They hardly can be tracked. In TV series both the characters and actors have an actual official age though. There are so many teenage pop stars that are highly sexualized that have fan subreddits that are not being banned despite the sexualized pictures of them rampantly being posted there.

I love how the OK hand sign became "a hate signal" because of a meme where some members of 4chan set out to prove that you could take the most innocent thing ever, and turn it into a "hate symbol" by just photoshopping enough pictures of nazis that did it, and it actually worked. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OK_gesture#White_power_symbol This is actually how it started; I only learned recently that it actually started due to this.

Males need it more than females on average, pretty much all research indicates. This meme of "males want sex; females want a relationship" is just wrong. Males want both sex and a relationship more than females do; the difference is just smaller with a relationship so they invented "females want a relationship" to create symmetry where there is none. That depends on jurisdiction, hence "often not even illegal". And even if it were illegal, it's still not paedophilia. 18 years old is the age of consent with a formal difference of power like teacher/student or employer/employee where I live; this would be completely legal; one can't even be fired for it by law under employee protections.

Do you consider a "cohabitating couple with no intent to marry" to be in a commited relationship? I consider the word "commitment" to be an Anglosphere buzzword; there isn't even a translation of it to my native language in that sense—as is common for words that have no real meaning and are buzzwords; they typically translate poorly between different languages, because they mean a different thing to every speaker. /r/PurplePillDebate15/01/20 03:58 PM

Really? Not the simple fact that it's tighter? The more complex explanation is often searched for when a simpler serves to explain it well. I have no idea why it would be more "submissive" to take it up one hole over the other; if anything the mouth or other non-erogenous zones are the most submissive because you don't feel much from it yourself.

Any male that is "horny all the time" would promptly be diagnosed as hypersexual by any pychiatrist. The way some of these individuals exaggerate male libido makes it seem like all of them are suffering from a condition that can actually be medicated. If you are truly horny all the time, you best visit a doctor and get prescribed some medication to reduce your libido—you suffer from hypersexuality, a nasty condition that is somewhat treatable.

99% of the time "understanding why" has nothing to do with that; it's just "I found a label for something I always knew, and with that label I can feel part of a group, and complain about stuff with said group."

I think the major problem is those that just do don't visit websites about it much to talk in general—like, what is there to talk about really? They just live their lives and do stuff instead. I'm female and probably just "going my own way"; this was never some conscious decision or something; relationships just don't interest me much; I don't see how one can fill and entire discussion board about that if it weren't for the complaining.

I’m not sure what you’re implying - are you saying that people on RP simply want to be socially dominant, and arguing that that SHOULD be attractive to women? I'm saying that you changed the definition. Alpha = creates sexual desire in women. This is really a circular reasoning. The entire argument that this philosophy comes with is to first list a couple of traits, calls them "alpha" and then argues that females attracted to that. Yet it is never called a "fetish" when such stereotypes play the same role in preferences for one's own race, and called a "fetish" all the time when one prefers another race without any such stereotypes playing a factor.
