I think it's more that having to live up to your own expectations will effect your performance while improving. The better mindset would be to aim and beat your old self by even a small achievement, this way you don't get demotivated

Less space, living with parents, poor economy, shitty diets causing skinny fat bodies. Unhealthy conservatism and obsession with traditionally arranged marriage and lack of sex education. I live in the US now but it's extremely hard to get out of my shell here as you'll literally get lynched if you approach women in India and they don't like it at all.
