Nothing I said violated rule 4 as it’s written. You say female perspectives are great, yet you abuse your power as a moderator to silence my ability to talk back in what I can only assume is an attempt to ensure that if I don’t lose track of the thread, nobody will be reading it any longer (also privately implied a threat to ban me more permanently for your interpretation of my attitude). Actions speak louder than words. Starting out saying you value women’s perspectives and using a smiley face …

I’m not a dude, and I suggest learning the difference between “woman” and “women” before you start trying to pretend you’re a subject matter expert on a gender you can’t even spell correctly (though I suppose bots and Indian dudes pretending to be hot strippers on Facebook don’t really count).

I’m an attractive woman and I look 10 years younger than I am, so I write openers rarely. First time I ever tried to hit on a dude, I was over 30 and I said some boring conversation starter. When he didn’t reply, I looked at it and was like, well fuck, I wouldn’t have replied to that either. So I followed up with something funny and charming that expressed my personality, and then I got the response I wanted. I thought about what I would respond to and what attracted me to that person, and I put…

I appreciate that you sound like the only dude here who’s actually lost his virginity (and managed to get a woman to sleep with him more than once). Your commentary is a public service 😉

Your responses are increasingly gross and know that when you talk like this, women think you’re either a misogynist or a fucking virgin. I can’t imagine any of these women are talking to you for very long (if they’re all even real women...).

You mean the one woman? Who was more likely referring to the fact that you claimed to have read something that she wrote and thinks you’re expressing something that’s a genuine and thoughtful reflection on the piece of her you gleaned from reading her writing? Nah dude, she knows you’re hitting on her and likely just appreciated it was a little more effort than the basic, boring “hey”, “hey cutie”, “you’re really sexy”, [insert sexual emoji], etc. Even some of the smarter lines tend to not be or…

I stopped reading after you said “astronomical sign”, because the term is “astrological sign” (and anyone even casually into that stuff will know that). With kind intentions, I have to tell you that this isn’t a good conversation starter; it sounds like you’re either chatting with bots, people who already find you attractive (in which case most any line will work), or that feeling like you know the thing to say makes you more confident in your interactions and women are responding to your friend…

That’s a pretty good perspective. Some pickup lines are pretty atrocious, but ultimately if someone has sparked attraction in you they can banter with pretty much anything because your attraction makes you open to receiving it. I’ve definitely dated a few guys I met online where we’ve joked about them murdering me, but if I got that from someone I had no chemistry with I would likely be horrified and convinced they were a probable serial killer.

I appreciate and applaud you for coming to that realization. If your “friends” are making women you’re interested in uncomfortable when you are around, imagine how they are treating women when you’re not around.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
