It is to keep women safe, countries with women-only train have those because women are unsafe. For example, in japan, there's even a word "chikan" for sexual harassament, usually groping , in public spaces like trains. So for women to be safer there are women-only trains. There is a japanese word, "chikan" it specifically refers to unwanted sexual touching, often in public places like trains.
