Isn’t that called severance pay?

I’ll give you half of my wealth if you move out west; wouldn’t mind some help around the house, emotional support, maybe the occasional foot rub after my toe heals. Platonic partnerships can be very rewarding Validation feels good. It’s very affirming to know that you have common goals with someone, and that they value you. Validating your partner is the bare minimum in any relationship, romantic or otherwise. I, ah. If you check the rest of my history you’ll probably also see that I’m not hungr…

That’s good for you. I bet you never threw up or soiled yourself either. Cousin went through a phase where he was really into poop and kept smearing it on the walls. He thought it was hilarious

Eh. You’d like me in person. I’m good at listening to people that don’t have a grip on reality I do need to work on articulating my needs in a relationship; you’re right. It’s a work in progress I said tomorrow, though. If you have advice that doesn’t revolve around the financial abuse this comment section is promoting, I’ll be all ears

It’s not that the stay at home parent is doing the thing; it’s that they’re also doing your share of the labor at home. If it’s not bad, why were you complaining? I felt genuine sympathy for a moment

You seem stuck on the “Not paying rent.” thing. The stay at home parent does not make a wage, that’s true. Their labor in the household DOES have financial value to the household, and it comes at the cost of other opportunities they would have for themselves. I just…work related injuries? The majority of all accidental injuries occur in the home. If you want to take that tack, I’ll argue the stay at home parent is spending more time in a high-risk environment. Caring for children IS stressful. T…

Curious about the details. Did they have any health scares while you were caring for them? Were they physically active? Did you cook them healthy meals? Any behavioral difficulties with you, teachers or the other kids? Were the activities you set up age-appropriate and mentally stimulating? Did you take the time to check in with them and make sure that they had a chance to connect and share anything that was bothering them? Go to PTA meetings? Did they brush their teeth twice a day and put on cl…

I kinda believe that everyone deserves a comfortable existence without having to fear hunger or homelessness. Again; that’s a separate argument, and is kind of a value based one more than anything Hell, in my world: neither spouse has to lead a miserable existence working themselves to the bone to support a family. They can just work normally because they are guaranteed financial security. Show a little sympathy for the working parents that you think you’re standing up for. Support housing as a …

Necessary? I did the single parent thing in another comment. Regardless: whether they NEEDED to do that or not, they CHOSE to. Your hypothetical doesn’t erase the reality that the stay at home spouse made sacrifices I also don’t understand the insistence on throwing out the parent of your child without so much as a penny in the event they have the gall to divorce you. Do you want your kids to have a patent on the brink of homelessness? Do you want them to suddenly lose much of the care they’ve b…

Dude ask any single parent if Plan A was to be a single parent. Most thought they’d have a partner going into it, and now they don’t, and everything is way harder. There’s quite a bit of data showing that husbands do WAY less in the home, even when both spouses are working the same hours.

Have you ever been the primary caregiver for a child, or managed the upkeep of a house with multiple people? Because that’s also something that can work you to the bone.
/r/AntiFeminists19/12/22 10:45 AM

Not in the eyes of the law. Or me. The stay at home parent has sacrificed their career and provided years of labor to support the family as a caregiver and homemaker, in this scenario. The working parent’s role is to financially support that family. So in a divorce, the working parent HAS ALREADY benefited from the labor of the stay at home parent. But the stay at home parent only has years of lost wages to show for it. Alimony makes up for those lost wages. Y’all decided to have kids. The stay …

Paíd her? A 👏 spouse 👏 is 👏 not 👏 an 👏 employee 👏. You’re also assuming the gender of the stay at home parent. Alimony partially makes up for lost earnings. You two decided to have a family. You decided that one partner needed to be a stay at home parent, and sacrifice or slow their career. By caring for the family and home, even in a way that does not directly bring in money, they are supporting the employed partner just as the employed partner is supporting them. Would the employed partner hav…

Here ya’ go Keep in mind that net worth doesn’t mean income; it’s going to include property, possessions, investments, and other forms of wealth that aren’t immediately liquid. So if you own a house that’s another 400k to your net worth. If you own a car, that’s 10-20k. If your household has two cars, make that 20-40k. Inheritable wealth is a huge reason for the wealth gap. Slavery, informal record-keeping, and discriminatory lending policies have made it less likely that black families will own…

There is research on the effects of physical punishment on kids. It’s not positive. Also: Californian. Most of the states you listed sound like hell on earth 🙃 I exaggerate. KCMO was nice, I liked Austin, Boulder and Denver are both neat towns. Sheridan’s alright too as long as politics don’t come up
/r/AntiFeminists03/12/22 07:38 AM

Yeahhh I’m going to pass on that. As a functioning adult who was never struck by their parents there are less traumatizing ways to discipline a kid. Discipline alone often isn’t effective, either. If you have a kid that’s acting out because they’re going through a difficult transition, for example, punishment is just going to bury that issue and make it so they don’t get an opportunity to process it. Sometimes talking and connecting with a kid can do what a belt can’t

Goddamn y’all are creepy. The kid is a little shit, and the mom is doing her best despite making mistakes as a teenager.

Minus the physical abuse, the kid clearly is in need of consequences. And at 18 if you can’t show respect to your household it might be time for you to make it on your own.

I think this point gets missed a lot. Median household net worth of a black family in the US is ~24k. Median net worth of a white family is ~190k. Not sure why OP thinks the past is history; it absolutely isn’t. That stuff shapes everything in the world around us Thank you for making the point about medical research and other testing being mostly done on male bodies, too. Seatbelts are a great example; for decades they were only tested on crash test dummies modeled after male bodies. Which even …

Pretty sure Dollhouse is fairly sexist. The casual way it treats sex without consent is pretty troubling Still well acted and an interesting concept. Just, some of the obvious issues that a responsible writer would have explored are completely neglected. Because the men writing it weren’t nearly as culturally aware as they thought they were

I started laughing when she came out with “I fucked Ted.” Here’s Walt trying to pretend that everything is fine and his murdering people and distributing dangerous narcotics is just a blip that they can easily get past and she just does not buy into it for a second. I hate it when we saw “Nice Walt” after every time he screwed up. Such an obvious attempt to manipulate everyone. Especially targeted Jesse and Skyler, but she wasn’t naive or emotionally neglected enough to fall for it. Poor Jesse

People that do that aren’t trying to get the last word with you, they’re trying to inflate their own egos by letting other people see they got the last word in. I promise you’re not missing anything interesting

I think the problem with keeping him away from his kids is that it was a half-measure. He knew she wasn’t going to escalate beyond that, and he called her bluff. It gave him leave to escalate the conflict until she backed down If you’ve ever had kids, then you know that you can’t threaten a consequence that you don’t intend to follow through with. She absolutely should have followed through with her threat to call the DEA; then Walt would have HAD to back off and stop with the drug dealing. Beca…

I saw Walt as being more controlling. The way he constantly lies to her and belittles her every time she questions his behavior makes me wonder what their marriage was like

In the third episode, his former partners offer to pay for his treatments. Walt turning that down, preferring to endanger his family by selling meth, shows that his motivation was his own arrogance and pride. Literally says do himself in the last episode; nothing to do with his wife being supportive Given that the company was “built on his research,” you’d think he’d feel entitled to accept their money. Zero sympathy for him

I felt like she gave Walt WAY more benefit of the doubt than she should have. She learns that he is a violent drug dealer, and still tries to manage the situation so that her kids don’t lose their father. She had a few moments of sense where she tried to cut contact from him, but he kept threatening her into giving in. Guy was seriously messed up Should have called Hank the second that she figured out how far in it Walt was.

I think we watched a different show. That guy should definitely be kept from his kids, and I think her only mistake was not calling the DEA on him as soon as she saw how bad it was

/r/AntiFeminists31/08/22 03:45 AM

Why are you using “virgin” as an insult? Your worth as a person doesn’t depend on your sexual experience. Having sex does not confer status or esteem. It’s just a fun thing that some of us do to bond with each other. Please don’t think of yourself, or others, in such a reductive way.

Stop projecting. Many men and women have different standards for what a satisfying relationship looks like than you do. It just seems shitty to attack someone sharing details of their relationship by saying “HAH HE’S GOING TO DUMP YOU.” Knock it off

You absolutely have no right to expect anything! Nobody in this world owes you a single thing; that’s exactly my point Some people decide to give back in their own way. Keep those people; they’re showing that they want to invest in a relationship with you. The person that you buy dinner for and doesn’t want a second date is showing that they don’t want to invest in their relationship with you. And that’s their prerogative I get that dating can be frustrating. I’ve been on fruitless dates too. I’…

I’m not sure I can guess what you’re trying to say. My tune would change if she pays for the dates? Is that it? You seem to expect women to behave like sex workers just because you paid for a dinner at Ruth’s Chris. Yes, their garlic butter is bomb. Nobody is contractually obligated to have sex because of it, though Focus on the process, not the result. You’re so concerned with getting laid that I get the feeling you’re ignoring the person you’re on a date with in the first place

Calling some hypothetical person an asshole for not being ready to have sex with you is pretty rapey. I’m not saying you’re a rapist, to be clear; I’m saying you’re expressing views that are in line with what a rapist would say. I’m sure you’re perfectly nice 🤷‍♂️ The phrase “withholding sex” is pretty questionable too. It makes it sound like sex is something you’re owed that she’s denying you. In those terms, you’re creating a frame where you’re justified in being angry at someone for not havin…

I see that. And now you’re claiming that it’s someone else’s responsibility to speak out on issues that are important to you Again, not seeing how that’s anyone’s responsibility but yours. Stop the passive-aggressive whining. I get that you’re basically just trying to tell the poster to take her different perspective and fuck off, and it’s a useless contribution to the discussion. Knock it off

Still struggling with the language you use around sex. “Make him wait” implies that it’s a service she’s withholding. This worries me; it doesn’t seem like a healthy way to view a sexual relationship I do agree that sexual incompatibility is a real thing that couples should talk about.

I think it’s your attitude toward sex with women that’s bothering me. I’m hearing that you see sex as a transaction in which the woman provides a service to the man. I like to think that it’s something two people do together. Not a service you are owed. She’s not making you wait to control you; she’s waiting until she feels comfortable and, well, desirous of you. You’re missing out on potentially fulfilling relationships if you’ve decided that anyone who’s not ready the moment you are isn’t wort…

Fuck, man. Your view of the importance of sex and how it should be introduced into relationships are your views. Not mine. Don’t dismiss it as childish.. All you’re accomplishing is showing how close-minded you are. I’m fine with you wanting to have sex quickly (assuming you’re being respectful, honest, and safe.). I’m fine with the person quoted feeling like it’s important to wait. It’s not childish or a “goofy ass game” to view it differently than you do.
/r/AntiFeminists30/08/22 07:22 PM

If you actually want a relationship, it’s good to wait. It’s not a game; it’s making sure there’s a solid foundation before getting the crazy sex hormones that mess with your decision-making. If feminism caused this, I want more of it.
