I think the keyword here is "extra" if you'd do it for a woman but not for a man, it's sexist. Though I do find it interesting how in the "holding the door open for someone" conversation the focus is always on the woman, why not on the fact that these people aren't holding doors open for men?

They might not remember it, but have you actually seen a video of a circumcision? "Not painful" is the last thing I would use to describe it.

I took a look at the two pages for "female genital mutilation" and "Circumcision", it was really interesting noting the various differences in how the pages are presented and what information is on the pages. Of course, the great glaring difference, is that for men it's not mutilation, as you've noted here. But there's also some other things. Like how there's almost no discussion on the female page about what good things it does, whereas on the male page the very first section past the initial s…

Considering that men are statistically in considerably more danger from being attacked by strangers this seems oddly sensible.

Watch a dozen? Shit I could hardly get through the single one I did watch.

I've heard a lot about this. Is there a video of the actual speech though? I'd be interested to compare the speech to the pre-emptive response to the speech.

The strength of the kick is not the issue, it's the fact that she kicked! When your child hits you in frustration you don't go "oh that's okay, it didn't hurt anyway", no, nobody does that, you sit them down and explain to them why you don't hit people!

It's remarkable that some people still believe that "men" are horndogs and "women" are lustless. It just blows my mind.

Is there a link to the actual research? That article is not very thorough. But I was just wondering if you were throwing the gender qualifier in there because "women hate men" or if there was actually a reason for it. So thanks for the article.

Why do you specify "female"? Male teachers do it too.

I'm so confused by his comment. What is he even trying to do? Surely he can't be trolling. Maybe he's trolling me by pretending to be a horrible troll. O.O

You say that you've had other people ask for the code, but on the "Why?" page you say that you won't give out the code. I'm just curious is all, but why not?

"Let’s not forget the ballot initiative introduced in San Francisco last year to ban circumcision. What was Gov. Jerry Brown’s response? To sign a bill that prevents local governments from banning male circumcision. Is that really how democracy is supposed to work?" I'm not quite certain on this person's stance on this. Is he bashing the initiatives in general (and this one specifically)? Or that the Governor can simply sign something so that the people don't enact something that scares him?

This is one of the stupidest excuses for sexism I've heard.

When I was there I was told if you put "good" in front of an insult it becomes an inverse compliment. "Good cunt" is as much a compliment as "cunt" is an insult.

It is however, a cry for help (in many/most cases) that should be taken seriously. Why aren't men "attempting" suicide more often? I suppose they don't want to be seen as weak?

I wouldn't necessarily say so. It's possible to be physical with a person, or even have feelings for that person, and still love and want to be with your girlfriend/wife/boyfriend/husband/cookie monster. Humans are a lot less monogamous than I think society would like us to believe. You can spend time with a friend and still want to spend time with your "best friend" why not when there's sex involved? I don't quite understand the difference. shrugs

I liked your posts in that thread. It sucks when someone is looking for help and they know they did something bad and people just say "you did something bad", well, gee, thanks for explaining that buddy... :/

"Despite having a bigger brain, the Cave Woman is very fond of her dim-witted mate. Recently, she’s been thinking about doing some inventing herself, perhaps starting with a written language and a stone-based calendar system. Maybe then she’ll finally be able to get the Caveman to remember his own name…not to mention her birthday!" wtf...

It's not even that he adores it. He's a photographer. He takes pictures of athletes! That's his job! Of course it's a big thing for him! His wife just seems like a horribly controlling individual. But oh well, I don't know everything, much less about this situation, though it certainly comes off sounding pretty horrible.

I'm pretty sure if you had a situation in which all the bars in town were charging black people however much more for a drink there would be a shitstorm a brewin. And I'd be surprised if it wasn't deemed against the law.

I liked this comment, though I don't it's entirely true, I feel the sentiment is a strong one: "How anyone could claim that young men have it easy when the biggest cause of death of young men is currently suicide, I haven’t a clue."

I was going to post that comment. I found it so fucking depressing. A man in his own home, doing nothing wrong, is relegated to having a camera on him so that he either doesn't do anything, or has recourse in the case that someone accuses him of abusing a child. And he chooses this action himself! Is it any wonder that fewer and fewer men want to be fathers if that's the kind of attitude that comes with it? Just so fucking depressing.

Did you actually read what she wrote? It doesn't look like you did. She clearly did not say anything about removing the clitoris. She said "nicking". And all she was doing was pointing out how odd it is, that that is illegal, while cutting off a large part of a man's genitals (without consent) is perfectly okay.

Actually, I'd say equality is very important. But the article isn't discussing equality. It's discussing the appearance of equality. And doesn't actually provide any evidence of inequality.

If I was friends with two people who decided to have a female only wedding ceremony. I'd be pretty upset. Who doesn't invite a friend to their wedding? That's a pretty nasty thing to do I think. It does seem to be a common occurence for girls to exclude guys from whatever, while guys seem to be more inclusive. (Please note that this is a generalization based on my personal experience.)

I agree, I really like "What would you do?" But the guy, ehhhh, just pretty much says what everybody is thinking. shrugs
