Because the only thing masking the hatred and racism of these people is the perceived loyalty to their political party. Vote the wrong way and watch all of that hate just flow like a sewer pipe bursting. If you're gay, black, a woman, Latino, whatever, you have to play ball and do what they expect of you. People put xx at the end of texts, on cards, when saying goodbye in chat, etc. It's super common in the UK. When I was a kid it meant a kiss, but now it's more of a way to show love and friendship.
