Nope, you’re not understanding me. But don’t worry, it’s ok to be wrong. If people decide that queer applies to them and lesbian, gay, bi etc don’t, then that works for them. Of course the other words mean shit. I identify as bi myself. Doesn’t mean other people should when they don’t want to.

“Our relationship is queer because either or both of us are queer, and the fact that some people on the internet disagree doesn’t negate that.” There, fixed it for you.

Not necessarily, for instance either or both of them might not identify as gay, lesbian, female or cisgender, which might influence their decision to consider themselves queer instead of gay.

This bothers me to no end. I’m not at all a Shakespeare expert, but having studied English lit at uni for a few years now I noticed how common it is to apply any wild idea to Shakespeare. Was he gay? Was he a woman? Was he X? It’s because we don’t actually know an awful lot about him, compared to the knowledge we have of similarly famous writers. His work also lends itself to viewing from many different sociocultural angles, so it’s quite easy to adhere some wild concept to his work and/or his l…

It’s crazy to think isn’t it. I was a boyish girl growing up and now I’m very comfortable being a woman who does ‘man things’. Maybe it’d help to stop teaching kids that it means X to be a boy and X to be a girl, and to just tell them they can do whatever they want regardless of gender.

Right yeah, I didn’t really get that yet

Should I take that as a general rule when navigating this sub? Maybe it’s because I’m a woman myself, but I tend to sometimes get offended by the generalisations, especially if I know a lot of counter examples.

First of all, sorry you had to go through that. I guess we were on opposite sides of the same boat, as I was forced to see my father (court order, he had a better (more expensive) lawyer). Thanks for explaining. What I was trying to point out is that generalising women (single mothers in this case) in the same was as feminists unrightfully do with men, might not be a productive way of talking about these cases.

Maybe there’s a joke I’m not getting but your caption bothers me. Single motherhood is no joke, I know that because I was raised by a single mother, because my biological father was and is terribly unfit to be a parent (to the point of being abusive). She had a full time job, no child support, and as an adult now I realise how damn hard that must’ve been. While some single mothers have it easy and live off their exes money or whatever, a lot of them don’t have it easy, and it’s not fair to gener…

Me neither, it seems pointless to present a version of myself that I hardly ever put up. I’ve also never expected a date, guy or girl, to pay the full bill. If they keep insisting, that’s nice of them, but going Dutch is generally a good solution (incidentally I live in the Netherlands, haha).

Woman here. Nothing about having a period would disable someone from taking the lift or walking the stairs to the next floor to find a bathroom, so there was no need to convert the men’s to ‘neutral’. They should’ve done that on both occasions, or not at all. Definitely complain.

It’s happened to me (a woman) once, though the situation is hopefully not an example of how feminists treat women on a regular basis. So there was this women’s march coming up, and though I wasn’t much interested in going, I realised there was a demand for those pink hats with the cat ears. I’m an ok knitter and had some free time on my hands, so I figured I’d make a couple for people who were interested. I received a facebook message from someone who spent a good long while explaining to me why…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
