I don't take sources as facts but as a indication where a person stands on a given issue (and can do my own research to make a critique of the source). If nothing you say can change a person's mind, even though you're using the most reasonable of the arguments you can come up with, the person already thinks you're in the wrong by default. Don't bother wasting time with people that are unwilling to actually listen and consider your points, and this go both ways. Going to echo chambers trying to have reasonable discussions is like drenching yourself in honey, then laying next to an ant colony and expect not to be swarmed. I've read an excellent piece of advice: Know how to pick your battles.
