Rolling the dice? Are you picking arranged marriages at random??? Sure there are traumatic life events and even birth control that can change someone's personality but you have total control over the vetting process. Make sure your goals are aligned, get a prenup; choose wisely and it's not a dice roll.

Research shows kids do better in two parent families, it's easier financially too. Not to sound paradoic but not all women. Go to churches, hiking clubs, hobby spots, unconventional places and you'll meet plenty of right thinking, reasonable women who'll sign pre nups. Frankly I think if you're gonna shape the lives of people so drastically through parenting, they deserve two parents.

Maybe we shouldnt set women in the workforce as the most important thing in society? Most women, most people generally, have jobs, not careers. They dont care much for them and find little meaning in work. Society should be more centered around the home generally, it's far more fulfilling

Slightly off topic but Why in gods name does anyone think 1950s suburbia was 'traditional gender roles'. In traditional roles women educated children and made the home from scratch. In the 50s women sent their kids to public school and bought their home goods. The feminine mystique's thesis was that technology and urbanization undermined traditional roles to be less fulfilling. Theres nothing wrong with them.

Smth rubs me the wrong way about using a phrase like that when describing kids in school. The schools are supposed to instill self discipline, if the kids arent showing it the fault is on the school.

Are women even expected to have long hair anymore? Like short hair is trending every few months and no one is fucking discriminating against it. Also long hair for men is fine too. Man buns a few years back, long wavy bee gees hair in the 70s, 90s mid length, these are all celebrated styles. My god you cant be free of any expectations in life and society is extremely tolerant of deviance this is peak first world over sensitivity

And what exactly do you think boomers thought? Do you honestly beleive the generation that catapulted the sexual revolution, civil rights movements, and mass secularism just accepted the previous generation? The boomers had the exact same mindset and it made them into hubristic egomaniacs, maybe gen z (which I'm part of) should actually be different and admit we're just the same as every other generation

Lmao every generation says the same thing and every generation does the same dumb shit. Things never change do they

Nah bruh, kids should be prioritized over adults frankly. Curate a culture where kids are valued and easily supported, dont make the suffer so their parents can save some money. If you're gonna fuck understand the consequences and take the neccesary precautions

Which is why I'm against both

Lmao the title needs to chill the fuck out. It's a tradition that stems not necessarily from the belief that women are superior but that men lead in courting. Basically its chivalry. It advantageous men in some ways and disadvantageous them in others. You can object to it but I wouldnt call it oppression, likewise I dont consider the father walking the daughter down the isle oppression

Lmao it is not systematic oppression. Its just fucking marketing, men arent so dumb they are somehow unable to realize spending 10k on a ring isnt a good idea. Lots of couples opt out of the extravagance, chill

Fucking THANK YOU. Empower men to be who they want to be, enough of trying to mold them into what society wants or demands at the moment

Still a very loose way of using oppression. I highly disagree, save it for political and legal causes lest you cheapen the concept.

I'm so fucking sick of existing for the inclusion and changing everything to make other people feel safer. Fuck that. Teach people to handle their own shit, it's not my fucking job

It's not a sympathetic argument at all. Sexual desire is innate for most, restricting its expression is what's oppressive. Women arent so weak that being exposed to the preferences of men will cause them harm, that's ridiculously infantilizing.

Jesus the guys in the comments internalizing misandry is depressing. So many are way to fine some of these. The guys saying they cross the street to make room for women is ridiculous, women are far less likely to be attacked, we're literally just justifying paranoia.

I dont know if I should find the protesting noise in the background disheartening or hilarious. These are fucking Cambridge students, future politicans and CEOs, have they always been twats or is it a recent phenonma. God help us lmao

Good to see all the comments rightfully calling this utter bullshit and borderline abuse. Is reddit becoming sane?

Anyone who was around in the 2000s will recognize the situation, its moral panic. Elites are using isolated incidents to push their longstanding agenda. It's a shame we're repeating the same mistakes. Edit. Shout out to Sarah's friend for speaking up, she seems like a wonderful and well measured woman. Sarah's murder is a tragedy and my heart goes out to them

Dr. K is a psychiatrist and popular twitch streamer who focuses on video game addiction and "former gifted kid" types. Aba was on once before to talk about his father, he's from Aba and Preach.

Ok the AITA re posts are getting ridiculous. Its just outrage bait, MensRights might actually be effective if we focused on legal battles, high profile incidents etc.

Can we chill with the AITA stuff? At this point we can just cross post every new thing on there, we get it, reddit hates men.

I am so fucking tried of everything being "patriarchys" fault. It's not the damn 50s, women have agency in society and it's time they're held accountable for the harm they cause as well

I'm right where you in terms of wanting to get more seriously involved but I thought I'd share the smaller things I've been doing so far Give feedback whenever you can. My university and other organizations will often have surveys, issue invoices, and suggestion programs, and I use them to bring mens issues into their minds. I tend to do this with guidance councilors/programs advisors as well, making sure to emphasize female chauvinism or lack of men's support. I'm part of a volunteer organizati…

If it's just to point out toxicity becuase of norms then why is it hurtful to men? Tying toxicity into something as important to identity as masuculnity/femininity is counter productive and hurtful period

Or we could all just get rid of the term and stop hurting people altogether. The vengeance mentality isnt a good look

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
