I think a law could be implemented that would punish without necessarily discouraging victims, although I agree it's a slippery slope. But if it was required to probe a strict definition of malicious intent, it could be effective while not hurting actual victims. Unfortunately it happens far too often that women are given an unfair advantage in criminal cases, be it from a responding officer or a judge in court. I'd guess this stems from the old idea of protecting women, but I'm not an expert. I wish that feminists would address this as well, though. If they truly wanted equality they wouldn't be satisfied with being treated that way.

The problem with your point is that you're assuming I'm saying that it's a functional screening tool all by itself and doesn't need any others, which I never said. Example: Wanted, actors age 20-30 5'10-6'0 170lbs, black hair. That is definitely a functional screening tool. A man fitting that description and a woman fitting that description are going to look vastly different.

The thing that I don't get is that it's so horrible apparently to judge women based off weight and acceptable to judge men based off height. Except that weight can be controlled fairly easily and height cannot be changed at all.

Nice to see some semblance of justice but obviously not a harsh enough sentence. As said many times before, the punishment for false allegations does not fit the crime. However, I think it's a slippery slope. One could argue that harsher false accusation punishments would lead to less women coming forward with rape accusations due to fear of being prosecuted (although I am definitely not taking this stance.) Yeah, when it's a domestic violence call whoever is made out to be the aggressor (usually male) is almost always cuffed immediately and taken to jail to end the dispute. Not very fair but don't usually get charged if they weren't guilty.

It's a different matter for buying cookies or whatever she wants if she's your girlfriend/wife. But in this situation, they obviously just met, not even in person, and she's expecting him to buy her things. I really doubt she planned to go on a date with him afterwards. It doesn't. The woman usually sues a famous athlete for an absurd amount regardless of whether it happened or not. Most athletes will take a deal for a reduced number of the absurd amount so they don't have to deal with the fallout of a trial. Luckily in this case he was smart and didn't pay up, and ended up being cleared.
