What makes a smartphone a smartphone is the software, everything else is purely economies of scale, refined manufacturing techniques and incremental improvements. The reason early commercial cellphones (the huge, blocky ones from the 1980s) were so expensive compared to modern ones is the expected return on investment. The high costs of airplanes are due to materials, sheer size, strict regulations, licensing, fuel etc. Realistic sex simulation is mostly mostly a software challenge, wether it be through virtual reality of robotics. The manufacturing and regulation aspect of it won't be such a bottleneck.
