No. Makes him a human being with genuine fears, like everyone has. It's good to confront your fear in an attempt to overcome them, but you shouldn't be forced to do so, especially by someone who's supposed to love and support you.

Nah, bullshit. If she doesn't respect his wishes or autonomy and literally forces him to do something he expressly does not want to do, then she doesn't respect him as a person and that's not a relationship, it's control. From his reactions, he probably has a genuine phobia related to being in that position; I'm guessing acrophobia, but it could be anything. Forcing him to experience it on terms other than his own is a shitbag thing to do.

I mean, yeah, but then there's the time my wife bought herself a $400 laptop the week before my birthday and then, the day of, got me a $14.99 DVD of a movie we already had. I think the line lies somewhere between the two.

"This civilization was so reverent of the unclad form that they nearly held it to be deific. In the overwhelming majority of private conversations between youths of their culture, any pretense of conversational overture was merely a formality before the offering of the sacred prayer: "Send n00dz". If the recipient of the prayer was amenable, they would bless the penitent with a boon." </attenborough>

I'm not arguing with the police, I'm arguing with you. And you're wrong. Her actions were aggressive, her intent was unclear but obviously hostile, and if anyone was acting like a child in this scenario it was her.

Rushing toward someone you don't know is an act of aggression. You can stand there and ask them to stop all you want, but unless you intervene physically, nothing's stopping them from ignoring you. And if you watched the video, you know that Field didn't have a lot of time to stop and converse with this person who was a potential assailant. She shouldn't have been there in the first place, she posed a credible threat, and just because security was lax doesn't mean no action should have been take…

I don't carry a weapon at all - never have. Thanks for your assumption, though. But I think this man acted responsibly and with restraint in a situation that called for physical intervention. My "obsession" with certain people, as you phrase it, is contextual. She was rushing toward persons of note while the people she was with were loudly proclaiming opposition to their policies. That's a measurable threat in those circumstances, and you can't assume a non-violent intention in that scenario. Ju…

Let me reiterate. She was: Trespassing. Vocally and obviously opposed to those in attendance. Rushing toward certain people (towards whom she had no right to approach in that situation) with no clear intent. Doing so while out of the reach of any kind of security. She needed to be removed. She posed a potential threat, and Field acted to remove the threat because no one else was doing so. He did not "attack" her, he stopped her. He was not the aggressor, she was - by rushing toward high-profile …

When you're not a police officer or other similar authority figure, and you're not inside your home or place of business, you dont get to be physically violent with someone. So let me get this straight: even though this woman had no business being there, was rushing toward high-profile individuals with unclear intent, had an obvious stance of opposition, AND there was no security around to stop her, you think everyone should have just sat where they were and studied their navels? Yeah...no. Inac…

Maybe, to a small extent. But that didn't make it a violent, misogynistic act. Nor did it justify the responses I saw calling for violence against the creator of the app, or even any man, in response to its implementation. The creator specifically said when interviewed that the purpose of the app was primarily to showcase a platform of facial recognition software and secondarily to help identify the victims of human trafficking.

Some excerpts: She told the court she snapped after discovering he was already married to another woman and had fathered three children with her. Mrs Ramanathan had told the court her husband beat her and frequently accused her of infidelity with a fishmonger who called her 'darling'. The Old Bailey heard she was 'married off' to her husband aged 37 in Sri Lanka after her parents died. He would return to her drunk and begin to ask about her former sexual partners which she denied having. Once, h…

Any time I see one of these editorialized "infoblast" pictures I'm instantly and automatically skeptical. I read the article, she's a POS, etc., but images like this always make me think someone's being brigaded or a story's been made up to go with a random picture.

I'm saying that complaining about issues that don't really strike the heart of the matter makes us look and sound like we're being infantile. Getting bogged down in issues that can and should be dealt with and dismissed by an emotionally mature individual waters down our actual grievances, trivializes the potency of our complaint. At the heart, this subreddit is about highlighting the double standard present in the system's dealings with social offenders, male and female. We live in a society - …

I get that, but I guess what I'm saying is...pick better battles. A woman who gets a $25 fine for letting a child overheat and die in a car? Fuck that, that is bullshit. This isn't a pussy pass. This is recognizing a day on the calendar. You need to realize the difference between unfair advantages given to women because of their female status and a simple celebration of women on one day out of the year. Learn how to temper your convictions, people. Yes, there are unfair considerations and advantages granted to women in many situations because of their female status and because some of them use that social tendency to their advantage. But Jesus Christ, every inst…
