I think they feel shame because if they don't see the woman they're with as a real life woman, then they don't receive the validation that they thought they would from having sex, which implies to them that they weren't good enough to get "the right kind of woman" But you're right, they don't feel accountable for their perception.

I absolutely can't fathom how anyone thinks it's okay for bdsm to be so prominent. Vanilla sex IS the best, but it's another thing men just can't be bothered to do well. They can't arouse women sexually so they have to manufacture a different kind of arousal. And if it were just about kinks, there would be more variation. I'd be down for prostate stuff and playing dress up, but nope, it's not really about kinks or novelty, it's just about violence.

I believe that men like this are understimulated and just lack the self-awareness and emotional intelligence to figure that out. They need an engaging hobby and instead of learning something new, most of them will just distract themselves with low quality experiences forever. All of us here did that work. We all let go of the ways we thought we needed validation and built our own self-esteem. More men need to match our effort.

I journal a lot. I remind myself that settling never made me less lonely. And then I think about what I really want, which is not a family that needs me to do chores on holidays, but a sense of belonging, which I also couldn't find if I'm settling for someone who doesn't like or understand me.

I'm assuming this is in response to the ones women do where they say like "imagine our eyes meet and we fall in love" which... I can barely believe. I know men hate women but how and why are they having such a violently angry response to something wholesome? I think it just clicked for me how much of the shitty things they say are actually violent. Now that I think about it, even the whole "take her swimming on the first date" is actually emotional violence. We need women only parts of society. …

I think you just have to tell yourself it's not about him. I'm not trying to prove anything and him congratulating me on my choice is a red flag. The same way that a man congratulating me for eating a salad would be a red flag. I'm discerning about ALL of my experiences. I won't finish a meal I'm not enjoying, I'll walk out of a movie if I feel like it, I do whatever I want whenever I want. If I wanted to and enjoyed having a lot of sex, I wouldn't be ashamed to do it. I'm not out here trying to…

I've never tried bdsm and one of the reasons is that safewords do seem impossible to use. I don't want to get to the point where I need the sex to stop so bad that I have to do something that kills the mood completely like shout "pineapple" and I've told that to guys who have suggested it. I told them I'd just say no or wait or stop... they didn't like that. It wasn't worth doing without the safeword, and I assume this is why. Because then you can't just ask them to adjust to your needs, to slow…

So when we meet a man and we vet forever and see no evidence of this, are we assuming it's still there and just we'll hidden or never spoken out loud? Cuz I'm getting to the point where I'm assuming the best ones are just not rating 17 year olds out loud even with guy friends, but they're doing it in their head and are just able to keep it to themselves and not fixate.

I LOVE this comparison. I've never thought of boundaries as a way of building intimacy, but I was just telling a friend that I appreciate that they continue to invite me out even though I usually say no. It does make the relationship deeper when I trust that I don't have to compromise my priorities.

I've never seen her mentioned here, but there's a psychologist named Bella DePaulo that studies and talks about staying single and a lot of her research is super important. This post made me think of this recent article she wrote about the importance of letting people know that you're happy to be single in order to increase the influence of single women: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/living-single/202203/does-it-matter-if-people-know-you-are-happily-single

Absolutely. If all labor is exploitative, sex work is exploitative of an already marginalized group, and further marginalizes ALL marginalized groups. Sex work normalizes racism and ableism thus promoting it in ALL industries. I support sex workers- in that many need support to get out of sex work. But I do not support sex work.

Seconded. And I find that reading romance novels to get it done also helps me keep my standards high on the date.

I once had a guy invite me to eat at Subway at like 3 pm. I was just starting to have standards so instead of ghosting I told him I'd go to this cocktail bar I liked with him. He then confessed to me that he had chosen that place and time because he worked there and that was his lunch break. He had gotten a dui and his mom wasn't letting him go out after work 😅🤮 This actually was the singular experience that made me decide never to go on a fast food date again. And to always say no when a guy is…

Another sign of them hiding something big is that they start telling smaller, unrelated lies. For no reason, just totally random stuff like saying he ate something different than he did even though he was home and I can see what's there, or saying he just borrowed a shirt from someone even though he's always had that shirt. I haven't figured out why but all my exes did this when cheating. I couldn't ever connect it to needing to cover something up, felt like just random attempts at disorienting …

"Couples pity" yessss. It's like every time one of my friends gets a boyfriend I can't look at them the same and I certainly can't take advice from them anymore. Slow fade as my former friend loses her light.

I think these things are popular because a woman doing the work of creating opportunities to feel sexually desires is probably the closest thing to romance most of them get.

This scares me so much. I assume this happens because men primarily look for validation from women and not love. They don't like themselves so they're dreaming about the man they could have been or the man that ex made them feel like. I hope this can be prevented with proper vetting, like making sure the man is confident, secure, and has passions and hobbies that fulfill him.

Just any kind of touch that's just a little too rough or dominating. I hate seeing men in public steering women by the back of their necks. Or when guys grab my arm to lead me around but like not in a cute way, in the way you see overworked moms in movies drag their screaming kid out of a department store. I'm at the point where I'll walk away over an overbearing hug.

There's also this Silence of the Lambs look guys give when they think they've got you all figured out and under their control. Like a really smug, excited, evil look.

I've been on this side of tiktok for a while and I've been wondering that too. Is the algorithm just showing me what was already there or is it creating a kind of insular place for like-minded women to communicate and get positive reinforcement from what would be a controversial idea outside of the algorithm controlled space? My experience is that I had some notions about porn and celibacy but I never said them out loud because I was a pick me. Then, tiktok took me to videos of strong, smart, su…

I just realized that Samantha is the only one that ended up with a HVM and she just decided she's the only one who didn't feel like she needed a man.

Not to mention how scary it is having someone waiting to take advantage of you if you ever get to drunk or falter emotionally.

The beginning of the process was realizing how much more successful I would be if I had done it earlier. But I finally made the decision seriously when I met a fwb (since I "wasnt dating") who checked all of my the boxes I've had my whole life. He was kind, attentive, honest, always made me feel cared for... and it wasn't enough. I had all the things I had spent my life begging for, my infatuation ran it's course, and I realized that I could only fulfill myself.

And if they're abusive, they try to disorient the woman until she either loses track of what she wanted or was saying in the first place or can't keep arguing.

This is exactly the case. I knew guys when I was younger who would admire girls from afar and get mad if we got her to talk to them saying that the girls were never as interesting as they imagined.

I was unlucky enough to stumble upon a discreet way to ask about this. I had a book of questions for relationships and every time I asked "what is your favorite memory" my boyfriends would start talking about sex with an ex, or kissing some girl in high school... I ask during early dates now.

As a high IQ woman, I haven't been able to find a man to have a fulfilling conversation with in a while. Even the rich, successful, kind men I know don't read or have any need for intellectual stimulation. They're good listeners at best and usually don't even like discussing movies. It's weird and I wonder how this happened all the time.

Love seeing this. I recently articulated to myself that one of my standards is that a man admires me. I want him to think my accomplishments are cool enough to brag about the way men hype each other up, always saying they have a buddy who can do this or that.

I recently decided that video game and youtube addiction is a sign that a man hates his own company, and that's most men. I think that's why they can't stand doing chores, they might have to engage with their surroundings and have a thought.

Decent guys are confident they're being appropriate. A guy being scared he'll come across as creep is the biggest red flag. It just means hes creepy and refuses to be accountable for that behavior
