It sounds like he is just a homebody. He wants to please you, so he is happy to agree to go where you would like to go. Naturally, he has some trouble hiding how uncomfortable he is once he gets there, but I can imagine how frustrated you feel about how you keep letting it ruin the fun for you. He is trying to give you a gift just by going. Try to be honest with him about the fact that he doesn't need to be dragged along every weekend just to keep you happy. You are graciously accepting when he …

It makes me scratch my head and wonder why these ideas could ever be controversial. What's so anti-woman about wanting to make your husband happy? That pleasing your husband is a sign of your oppression says a lot about the world.

I was always taught that it was rude to ask, but how you answer is up to you. I am getting to the age where people always call me ma'am instead of Miss haha. So if someone is rude enough to ask, I might say, "Why do you want to know?" with a smile and in a friendly tone. Of course, this is only aquaintences, not girl friends. :-). My girlfriends know I'm turning 29 again this year. ;-) And I don't know if it came from insecurity, I just thought it was an extension of not calling women you don't …

I am always working on this as well. It is no longer much of a struggle with my husband, but I can still speak without thinking when my emotions move me! So you are not alone in struggling with this. :-)

I'm new to RPW but not to being a submissive wife, so take this with a grain of salt, I suppose. :-) I notice you often say "I am" this way, "I have" this personality. You even call yourself a shallow 'witch', shall we say. It seems like you may already understand the danger of thinking this way. Instead of looking at these qualities as "inherited" in a sense from your mom, try changing how you talk to yourself. Can you work on finding the emotion underneath the behavior? If you felt insecure wo…

EDIT: I'm not sure if a bit of snark is appropriate in this forum; please let me know if I am violating the spirit of your group.

That gave me a chuckle too. As it happens, I met my husband at a bookstore and we later found out we went to the same University. But at the time, I wasn't strong enough to be honest with others that I prioritised my relationship with my husband over preparing for an exciting career right off the bat. Now I'm more comfortable expressing myself as a feminine woman.

I do find value in having a good education, and for me that means both college and taking the initiative after formal education to keep learning through my life. I do agree that my relationships with my immediate family brings me far more happiness than my college years did though. I haven't had a chance to pursue a career yet as my kids are still young. Perhaps some of the working ladies would have a more accurate assessment of the article.

Yes, I have a degree in Linguistics and took many general education/liberal arts classes. Many of them truly were just feminism 101 disguised as "learning how to think". I went to a big ten university and despite their good reputation, the professors and TAs didn't disguise what kind of opinions would earn A's and which B's or C's.

My mother says they used to give wives of graduate students an honorary PhT. (Put hubby through degree.). Now of course, women get no credit at all for such a thing, since we all know there is no such thing as housework or supporting one's SO through the trials of grad school. For the record, I'd love a PhT certificate; I worked as a nanny and did 90 percent of the housework while my husband worked for his Master's. But it would be demeaning and sexist to acknowledge that it was hard work for me…

IMHO decent men don't cheat. If my husband were unhappy or felt unappreciated, I hope he would come to me so that we could figure out what changes to make together. If my husband cheated, I honestly don't know if I would stay or not. I do know that I would no longer trust, respect, and admire him so much. That sounds like the beginning of the end for a loving, happy marriage.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
