For me Compound movement are really necessary, it's the moment where you are making the meat. But if you're injuried, try to stop the gym for a while. Because if you're not fully recovered, you will get injured again or you will take a long time to fully recover. At the end it will take more time than if you had stopped previously. For your program, the aim sould be to do between 10-20 sets for each muscle group. Good luck in your recovery it always suck to stop the gym
