I also gave up a lot in order to movethings along quickly. Not because I had another woman in the background but because I knew if I also let it linger longer she’d get more aggressive and vindictive. Also, I was at the end of my rope with the marriage and didn’t see a possibility of anything improving. I wasted years trying to make it work and I was ready to start making real progress with the other parts of my life. Almost a year out and I’m not quite whole financially but making gains towards…

What I like about online dating are the filters baked into the apps. It’s convenient to filter on preferences and get matched knowing certain bases have been covered. Especially being in my later 30s without kids I prefer to date women who are the same. Out IRL it’s difficult to suss out things like that. I’m not completely all in on apps and keep myself open to both dating approaches.

I also enjoyed reading Single on Purpose as well. The self care triad of taking care of our Mind, Body, and Soul is what resonated with me. Especially with reconnecting with my soul. A lot of work has been done and still working on to gain full forgiveness from my soul. Dr. Robert Glover: No more Mr. Nice Guy. And recently finished his book: Dating Essentials for Men. …I know the pain. I was just there at the beginning of the year - spent NYE by myself for the first time. I went for a drive to force myself out of the house and ended up at the drive thru for Taco Bell. I went to say my order and the guy told me to hold because it’s about to hit midnight and they wanted to celebrate with their family on the phone. Once the NY rang in I hear the celebration through the intercom and found myself at my rock bottom. Skipped getting food and went home. I took a pict…

Give Dr. Robert Glover’s: Dating Essentials for Men a read. If you have Spotify premium they have it available as an audiobook. Gives a good overview on how to navigate the dating world. I’d recommend reading that first then venture into the dating world. I came across the book on my second month of getting back into dating, and felt way more equipped with the knowledge gained when comparing my dating style during month one.

If you feel strongly about it - safely explore it. I have a gay cousin that recently moved to my city and I took him out to our cities gay community for a night out. I was the designated driver and on our way home he was drunk and complaining that I was getting hit on more than him lol I learned the phrase “I’m an ally” as a nice way to say that I’m swinging for the other team. All this to say I get the ego boost but it’s also just dudes being dudes. We’ll stick our dicks in anything including c…

What would your 42yo self say if you stayed and endured it? Would he wish you had the courage to change your life? Once I reframed it from the perspective of my future self it gave more clarity to see that even if post divorce sucks it’s still better than my marriage.

I recently learned of the term ENM (ethically non monogamous) relationships. Matched with a woman on the apps that seemed to be in a similar situation. Her and the husband are still married but now live in two different states within the US. They’re free to do whatever they want and get into relationships fully. The reason they’re tethered still is because of their finances and going through a divorce would ruin it or set them back and prevent them from keeping up with the lifestyle they’ve been…

I was in the same boat as you not too long ago. I didn’t have an outlet to speak on what was happening to me and my marriage. I spent a lot of time talking to myself as the friend I needed. I’m not sure if I can help but I can at least listen and be unbiased. DM me if you want.

Dating non-divorced was a toss up for me. I briefly dated one woman who after two dates asked if I could show her my divorce certificate to prove I was really divorced. I thought that was such a wild ask from her but I guess she’s right as a stranger I could still be married or separated, but two dates in this was a red flag for me. Most non-divorced women are ok with me being divorced once I clarify and verbalize that it’s finalized, no kids, and no contact with ex…it’s just this one chick that…

I was about 7 months out post separation when I decided to try Hinge out. Did a lot of intentional healing before I put myself back in the trenches of the dating world. I had a net positive experience with online dating. Ofc it never feels good to get ghosted, catfished, rejected, or hurt the feelings of others but it’s all part of the game. There’s also the highs of great connections, conversations, reverse catfishes, first kisses, breaking the touch barrier, sex, and the way she lights up when…

I haven’t been yet but I’ve been thinking about Puerto Vallarta. Cheap, friendly people, a port, beach, new culture. I’d recommend Honolulu, Hawaii. The island aloha vibe is really one of a kind. You can blend in with the tourists or escape to local beaches. Beautiful women. Good food. Amazing beaches. All kinds of hikes and sights to take in. It can be whatever you want or need it to be.

I’ve been keeping up with the most boring but healthy routine since separation and finalized divorce. Gym(home gym), reading, long walks, upskilling for work. I added online dating and it was fun all the ups and downs that come along with it is an interesting experience. I decided to take a break from it to recenter myself. Today I convinced myself to go to a coffee shop to study and I have to say this might be my new weekend activity. Find a new coffee shop/cafe and upgrade myself with courses.…

Most women on apps treat it passively - meaning they’re not actively liking profiles. They’re definitely scouting but most aren’t bold enough to put themselves out there and get rejected or ignored. In fact for me most women who like my profile first are from women I wouldn’t even notice out in public. They probably come from the grouping of women who are invisible to men and have accepted that if any motion in their dating life is going to happen it’s up to them to initiate. So really it’s up t…

It doesn’t take balls you just gotta send it. Whatever her reaction is afterwards is on her. You closed out on your end and don’t need to explain further if you don’t feel like it. I’m also assuming your relationship was still in the talking phase and not exclusive yet.
/r/Divorce_Men24/07/24 11:17 PM

Just go about it the way you’d want if roles were switched. Having been in your position I usually send a text saying something like: It has been great getting to know you but unfortunately I no longer feel a romantic connection. You said it was a recent development so this is part of the dating game so she should accept. She will be sad/confused but she will also appreciate you not wasting her time and being communicative. Whatever you do try not to ghost.

That’s tough. But the way I see it is you have a loving wife that absolutely adores you. She’s also the mother of your child and you want a second with her. What you also have is a wife that has been there for you, is reliable, reassuring, and consistent. You have someone to build a future with. You fucked up because you’re still looking for the prom date. The woman who gets your heart rate up, is smokin hot, fun, and can dance all night long. You weren’t built for a family yet and settled which…

Yeah for the most part I’ve had similar results seeking out casual when I first started dating again. To me it was a complete waste of time because it wasn’t aligned with what I was looking for. I was thinking casual would look something like taking it slow getting to know someone and not have any pressure to be exclusive right away. In reality from my experience it just meant being added to their roster of orbiting men all trying to win over her attention. So whenever she’s bored or not getting…

I’m 38 and started online dating with an age range set from 28-39. I started to pick up on the younger ones treating early conversations and dates like interviews which I find off putting. Once I mention that I’m divorced with no intention to remarry I get unmatched quickly. Raised my range to 35-40 and it’s been better with having a more natural progression of getting to know someone.

I think identifying your goals before putting yourself back in the dating scene will help. Then once you’re out on the field, communicating what you want and looking for will filter out women. I’ve been on a few dates with different women using the same approach of talking to one woman at a time. Once I see that a connection is losing steam then I unpause my online dating account and start lining up another prospect. I think the key is to filter out quickly usually by date 3 or 4 you can make th…

Love to hear this! Getting back into the dating scene has been incredibly fun, especially when you match with someone who matches your energy. I just got back from a second date with a literal succubus. Our first date, we were in the middle of the dance floor and while she was doing the butterfly the move where she rubs her ass on my buttonfly, I caught myself saying out loud “Kianna (ex wife) never made me feel like this ever!”. I haven’t watched the doc but loosely followed the case as it was happening. I was also surprised that men’s rights weren’t more of a topic after seeing this unfold. Sadly a lot of men are in this position but don’t have Depp enough pockets to fight it, so they fold.

When I first set up my profile I gave basic and standard answers to the prompts/ice breakers. Didn’t get any matches with them. As I was viewing profiles to match with I noticed a lot women also had basic answers and often same answers to these prompts. Ex. This year I’d like to: travel more. My simple pleasures: fresh sheets, coffee, flowers. My controversial opinion: pineapple belongs on pizza. You get the idea. Still new to it and agree wholly with you that online dating is insufferable. My advice is to take it slow. On a day your motivated cast as much lines out as you can. Everyone once in a while during down time or bored just keep sorting through the cesspool and try matching. My point is don’t treat this app like a job. We have numbers working against us. I have a match from weeks ago that just hit. Even then the communication has been slow which tells me I’m at the bottom of the her list. I match…

Dating is rough out there. I recently matched with this nurse from a dating app. From our talks she’s mentioned things that I’ve mentally noted as red flags. She says she works a lot of OT. Has stated that she is a lot to handle and is very out going. I also just learned today that nurses are notoriously known for cheating. Damn. Marriages are a lot of work for sure but the problems you’ve presented on here are signs towards divorce. The lifestyle difference of you wanting a family and her hating kids is too big to overcome. One of you will have to compromise and that will ultimately cause resentment. How was this not discussed before marriage?

I love waking up and not having the feeling of having to play the perfect game to get through a day. I remember just being in my own home and feeling like I’m trying to navigate a field of mines. I do everything right even go above and beyond for it to all mean nothing because I loaded the dishwasher incorrectly or because I left my sweater on the couch. Yeah weekends are brutal. I remember one of the first weekends around the time my divorce began. If you’re on the fence I would tell her to give you more time to sort out where you’re at. When people in your position think or even fantasize about divorce it’s always going to appear greener. The truth is unless cheating or abuse is involved neither of you will really benefit from splitting especially after 35 years. Not everyone comes out a winner after a divorce. Tbh I’d suggest just going on a trip wherever without your wife. Just reconnect with yourself and recharge. When you return all this small “women shit” will roll off your shoulders. Wouldn’t hurt if she did it on her own…

Before divorce becomes an idea that materializes I would exhaust all resources available to mend your marriage. Whether it be therapy, going on a solo or boys trip, both of you guys writing out a letter to each other outlining how you both feel, etc. I’ll always say it but unless divorce involves abuse or infidelity you’re much better off saving your marriage and family. Divorce is fucked.

That’s what I’ve been noticing. While I’m not happy I went through a divorce, I have to recognize that my well being and general existence is much better. I can’t stress your 4th point enough. You HAVE to keep moving and even the small wins will stack up. I learned a helpful trick for staying motivated on tough days: the 5-minute rule. If you’re procrastinating on a task, commit to working on it for just 5 minutes. If you still don’t want to continue after that, consider it a small win. However, most of the time, you’ll likely find yourself completing the task.
/r/Divorce_Men21/04/24 01:13 AM

I agree with this. From what I’ve seen if there isn’t abuse or infidelity involved I tend to notice that divorce rarely betters either party. It’s seems to be more about a fantasy and reflects a lack of realism.
