1	Poised, confident girls? Well, you could assume attraction. That's a good rule that everyone should follow no matter what, but it becomes especially important in these cases: If she's truly not interested, poised or not, she'll have obvious signals of that. If she's only going along with you, then assuming attraction will let you open up and be more confident and hopefully build attraction. The whole idea of inner game is to become you without those little insecurities: The thought is to develop a better you without needing alcohol to help you hobble along, and while drinking might help for a while, to actually improve at both inner and outer game, you need to break those insecurities sober. Note, however, that I'm not saying OP shouldn't drink at these parties-- If everyone there is drinking, OP should probably be drinking.
