Nurses make a lot of money, probably more than your average construction worker. Farmers on the other hand are mostly men and generally don't make very much.

So all those boys at the party, none of whom intervened, were just naturally evil monsters? Just completely indifferent to the very real chance of being convicted and going to prison? I think they were dumb criminals and may have fallen victim to group think. If they had robbed a gas station at gunpoint, do you think they would have disseminated a video, pictures, and bragged about it on twitter? Yes I've seen criminals do things like this. Brag about their crimes online and end up going to jail…

I am at university now and am constantly told not to rape women, get consent, don't drink too much or you might rape someone. When I get on the subway I see signs warning me not to touch the women or stare at them. Men are told constantly not to sexually harass/assault women. I don't necessarily have a problem with this I just think we should also be teaching women how to protect themselves. Your suggestion that men aren't taught about rape virtually at all (only .1 percent of current teaching) …

What you're saying is rapists find rape acceptable. That's like saying murderers find murder acceptable. Of course they do, that's why they're murderers. Among the general public I think you'll find people of the opinion that rape is a reprehensible crime, almost universally.

Right, so what you're saying is because men still rape obviously they're not getting the message. Likewise, I would say because women still engage in risky behavior obviously they're not getting the message either. Therefore we should teach everyone, men and women, about sexual assault, what the risks are, and how to prevent it and/or protect oneself.

Yes most schools teach students about drinking responsibly. I think thats a good idea and they should continue doing that. What's your point?

Show me a college age guy in america who doesnt know rape is wrong. Seriously it has been pounded into our heads. So why should we teach men not to rape?

The implication is that a statement that focuses on alcohol steers the conversation to women protecting themselves, to women shouldering the responsibility for rape (something that people already try to do), whereas the conversation should be about finding systemic solutions. The conversation should be about stopping men that rape! All I advocate is giving women information about the risks they face and ways they can protect themselves. They can make whatever choices they want and I won't judge …

"I'm all for telling men not to rape" When's the last time you told men not to rape? Rapists are criminals, nobody talks about rape or would insinuate that normal men are capable of rape. A classroom of boys is never spoken to about not raping! But girls are given so many lectures on how to avoid rape, even from people they are in relationships with (sex ed. grade 9/date rape). As a man, at a university, I am constantly told not to rape, and have been for a long time. "Telling a woman binge drin…

Teaching women to protect themselves from rape means a) thinking all men are possible rapists Teaching all men not to rape already treats all men as possible rapists. and b) protecting yourself from all men I don't know what planet you live on but on mine violent crime is a reality for men and women. In fact men are more likely to be a victim of violent crime than women are. It sucks that I can't take the shortcut through the alley at night and instead have to stick to the main roads but I do so…

The issue is that teaching women preventative measures has been shown to not decrease rape. Can you provide me a link that can back up this statement. Even women who don't drink excessively and take all the precautions are raped. You're using a strawman argument. I have heard this one before. Eliminating rape entirely is not the same as reducing rape. I agree we cannot stop rape entirely but women can do things that will reduce their chances of being a victim. Saying because we cannot eliminate …

I was actually thinking this but I didn't say it.

I actually got drugged and robbed in Cambodia. I was at a bar and someone, I believe a prostitute, put something in my drink. The next thing I remember is waking up in a haze several hours later on the sidewalk with my money and ipod gone. I have been drunk many times and what happened had nothing to do with alcohol, it was some kind of drug.

I don't believe that men are oppressed. What I do believe is that mens rights groups are oppressed. And by oppressed I mean that feminists and others opposed to the idea of mens rights protest these groups, have had them banned from campuses and spread misinformation about them intended to turn public opinion against them. Feminists would have you believe that a group of men who simply want to organize a meeting to discuss suicide prevention are a bunch of hate filled misogynists.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
