That ain’t me homie. Lower middle class. Working dad who worked his ass of in a trade while my mom stayed home with the kids cause it was cheaper than using any daycare.

Well. I will bow out and agree to disagree. This did not happen when they were old. This happened when they were my age and they consciously threw entire segments of society away because “we are better than them”. Trades were what the loser kids did. That was the mindset of younger people. Those boomers were not 70 when they thought that. They don’t get a pass for “being old” when in fact they were not old.

I’m not being pessimistic or angrily pointing fingers. It’s a fact. It was pushed heavily. Go to college or you’re flunky. If they got it from their parents, fine. That said. If we can see the problem and don’t do anything to resolve it, we are also part of the problem. The Boomers might have got it from their parents, but they could have just as easily said “but wait. We NEED trades!” And not talked about them like they were the scum of the earth.

It was drilled into everyone by boomers to “go to college so you can get a “real” white collar job. You don’t want to be a plumber do you?” This was inevitable. Trades and apprenticeship was looked down on as second rate.

Great article. I do have an issue with any article or post that includes 'Wake Up' as part of it, but that was a small part of a well written article.

Target has some of the most sophisticated security systems of any retail chain. In fact, their head quarters in Minneapolis is frequently used by local PD departments for forensic analysis. That being said...if that kid had nodded yes, and the mother went after you on the word of a kid, you can be damned sure that the video evidence would have proved her wrong. And it is really sad that you could have needed that evidence on the word of a small child. Shitty that happened, you did the right thin…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
