You're absolutely right that we should fight to reduce the effects of both toxic masculinity and toxic femininity

In order for you to demonstrate that toxic femininity is an issue you would need to be able to point to some number of negative behaviours that women exhibit as a result of social pressure to conform to a societal standard of femininity. But even if we were to say that, for the sake of argument, toxic femininity is a real thing and causes just as much harm to society then we would want to try to combat both. I'm not sure what I should tell the Gillette ad since nothing I said really goes against the content of the ad. Also if one is going to dispute the existence of toxic masculinity maybe it would be better to confront an argument that comes from an academic source rather than a TV ad for razors.

If you are genuinely asking then yes, that is an aspect of toxic masculinity. However it's less about gender roles in the obvious sense and more about general social pressures. Ideas like "men should be stoic", "men should be big and strong", "men should be the breadwinners" would be examples of societal standards for men which are enforced mostly just via social pressures. So another way to phrase "toxic masculinity" would be to call it "unhealthy societal standards for men".

Thank you for speaking up against this kind of thing. His comment is exactly the kind of behaviour that lets people paint anybody who speaks up for men's rights as a sexist. You are absolutely right when you say it makes the sub lose meaning. All it does is erode the legitimacy of men's rights movements.

Yes you are correct that is the rational decision. You might be on to something here, we just have to make all humans behave perfectly rationally and it'll solve a lot of problems 🤔

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
