The reason for that is the rich make the rules. It's not like the ratio of capable people somehow went down over the last 100 years, but the CEO pay has certainly gone up.

now everyone hates unions It seems like unions are bullshit these days and that might be why. Instead of having all the employees get together and work as a unit, you have massive union groups come in and provide a blanket union contract that doesn't really help the lowly employees anyway. My exposure to unions is pretty limited, but from what I've seen they are great in theory, but they're garbage in practice.

A balance in child rearing duties and ending the stupid stereotype about dad "babysitting" the kids would do a lot to fix the wage gap.
