I'd take this opportunity to get any burning questions you have about your father answered. I wish I asked mine before he died in a motorcycling accident. Instead, I grew up with a mother that barely had anything good say about him. She had plenty of bad things to say about him, so that gave me a very jaded view of him and men in general as a kid. My point is, it's important to get both sides of the story, or at least gain a small understanding behind the thoughts of the man that had a part in b…

Your statement about having oneitis meaning you're not satisfied with yourself seriously resonated with me. Couldn't be more true, having gone through it myself.

Seems like you've got a plan ahead. I'm working on forgiving myself for whatever mistakes I've made, serious or not. It's liberating and allows you to focus on what's important. Shit is fucked, but doesn't last forever. Be grateful the case was open and shut.

My stats: 5'5" 160lb Big three: Bench: 205 lb Squat: 275 lb Deadlift: 385 lb I eventually reached a plateau and I'm pretty sure it's got something to do with my body. I was born with chondroysplasia punctata that left me with randomly tight groups of muscle in my legs and arms. Gonna see a podiatrist later in the sjmmer to see my APT can be fixed and thus, the rest of my body.

Have you had to change your personality to cultivates some of the dark triad aspects of it? What did it take?

I see. I used to game a lot, then just lost interest one day, even though I indulge myself every now and then. Your comment resonates with me. Thanks for your insight.

Yeah at this point I genuinely don't give a shit what happens. After sleeping on my decision, I realize I've been way too focused on one girl instead of gaming others like I should have been/was at first. This is squarely my fault. Oh well. Live and learn I suppose.

Got it, I was actually thinking of offering friendship because she's actually a solid gal. But that would just make me look beta. Good looking out.

Thanks for your advice. I tried to pull a girl who came over to play board games with my roommates last night. She wasn't having it. I straight up showed her something in my room. She decided to just find an excuse to go back to the living room. I tried to figure out why that happened, then I took a look at my room. It's barren. The bed wasn't made, so I looked messy. Despite having good conversation, no kino was made by me. Learned a bunch last night. Either way, the reason doesn't matter. I co…

I agree and that's why I'm actively trying to take up meditation to let these negative thoughts come and go instead of dwelling on them.

Off the top of my head, the biggest things I'm lacking is: That "fuck it" mentality where I just do what I want to do without giving a shit what others think. The ability to push through to do things that are difficult/self doubt/sabotage. I've been eyeing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam for a while but because I've been out of school for a while, some of the engineering subjects covered are pretty intimidating because I either barely remember them or was never taught them. I essentially sh…

That's something I've been doing proactively as well. Sometimes the mind just goes into a negative spiral after a long day. Each time this happens though, I've been spending less time dwelling on what bothers me if it's something I'm not able to solve immediately. Helps me shift my focus on something that'll benefit me tomorrow. Example: being more assertive with women I'm attracted to. I'm having a difficult time saying, "fuck it" before making moves. I'll keep your advice in mind. Thanks.

I've lived in CS for a while before moving out. I highly recommend Denver and Boulder if you can afford it. Colorado Springs is a family town anyway.

You're absolutely right; who you hang out with matters. Ever since I started hanging out with a well-known guy, more people started to pay attention to me and my actions, in a good way. Last weekend at the bar, every time someone left, they'd come to me to say bye, leading a girl to ask, "Do you know everyone here?!"

How would you approach any hearing woman as a deaf man who primarily uses ASL to communicate? Have you even coached a deaf dude before? I'm really curious for your insight.

How do YOU manage stuff like this? How do you tackle the mountain aggressively and efficiently, but without being overly serious and stressed out about it? I always ask myself before taking on a mission, "Do I want this?" If the answer is "yes," then I just do it. If I fail, it's okay because, honestly, the worst possible outcome doesn't typically come true. Most of the time, its a failure filled to the brim with lessons to be learned before my second go at it. If I fail too often, I just take a…

What a honest post. Reminds me of my high school days, oh man. It was really bad before it started to get better (still got a long fucking way to go). Keep it up, you're way ahead of the game. Don't get discouraged.

After getting cheated on twice, I started to swallow the pill (just couldn't form words for the new mindset I was developing) before finally finding TRP.

I'll still go. Just not expecting much now. Meh, next time I'll just fuckin say no. Edit: Several people have suggested that I just text and say that something else came up. I might just do this instead.

Why do you recommend against using emotes? Why do you say that I should worry about being put in the friend zone? If she shows no interest (after I escalate during the next time we meet), I'll just move on.

Being deaf, I consider myself pretty damn good at reading body language and facial expression cues. That's what's actually holding me back from not giving a fuck because when a girl's not interested, I know immediately and back off. I'm actually working on having a 'IDGAF' attitude and just keep plowing through, especially when I don't have much to lose with a random girl anyway. Excellent suggestions, though. I'll put them into play and see how they pan out. I think the root of my issue is cons…

As a Deaf man who primarily uses ASL to communicate, I wonder if the rules of engagement are any different. I've tried texting on my phone and showing the girl as a way to start small talk. Since it's so... I dunno, time-consuming, the conversations dry up pretty quickly. What would you guys do? Are there any other Deaf RPers? I was thinking about just approaching and start signing while false-talking (speak without using my voice). If she doesn't understand, I'll just pull out my phone to avoid…
