Good for you! It's stories like this that give newbies like me hope. I'm nervous about initiating kino the same as you, and I've yet to break that barrier. Hopefully the next week will change that for me. Keep it up, looking forward to the next FR.

I had a few drinks, a little liquid courage isn't a bad thing, but you've always got to keep your head. No one likes a drunken idiot. I've got terrible AA, but I'm pushing through it...faking it until I make it. When I know someone, I'm alright at social interaction...when I'm alone, it falls apart quick.

I get discouraged quickly...I've gotta figure out how to keep my momentum going. Not easy when you don't have anyone with you. I made it 2 hours though.

I left at 12:30, band was still on. Social Anxiety got the best of me. Tomorrow is another day, and I'm going to a place where I can talk to people, and it's a subculture I know. Thanks for the encouragement, that's what makes this community great. Edit: small addition

It's the hardest thing, going out alone. Start small, go out and get a drink and sit somewhere or stand by the bar. The only issue would be if it become a pattern. My biggest problem is saying hello to people. My mind always goes crazy with possibilities and scenarios that sound insane even to me.

I've still got a lot of social anxiety. I'm perfectly fine if I already know people at a certain place, but it's hard when I know so few people. lol! I almost slapped myself right there...what better way to get to know people than to get out there and start saying hi!

I guess it's an issue in subcultures that they're very incestuous. This is a relatively new city for me and I don't really know anyone in this subculture, so maybe being fresh meat will be an advantage for me.
