The comic is so incredibly vague that it could be interpreted in a number of different ways. This is good for drawing support but not for actually determining, disseminating, and solving sociopolitical problems.

Like all rhetoric it's nonsense. It's such a ridiculous simplification that it becomes entirely meaningless. Life is not a 10-metre hurdle race or whatever this is supposed to be. In real life many different kinds of people face their own unique problems. Some things are worse for men, and some things are worse for women. This isn't even going into race, or age, or anything else. Others have posted sources for some.of these problems unique to men, but ultimately there is no point in trying to co…

Hey man, I don't have time to read your whole post so apologies if I miss anything important but I wanted to say two things: 1.) Be very careful around women and consent. Obviously you should practice consent just for the sake of ethics, but with women we must practice consent that is very clear to her. We can't afford to let things happen in any way where she could retroactively convince herself she actually wasn't consenting, even if she was. If you can, record your interactions as much as is …

You're right that I don't know who he is. I've only heard his name in passing in him being equally "close to getting it" on veganism. This is a pattern I've noticed about public figures in general. It's entirely possible for there to be outliers and note that I didn't say him specifically. But I would be skeptical. I also didn't critique you personally.

"Need" to be masculine is not the same as "expected" to be masculine. We have a need for protectors. The gender isn't a requirement, but rather a traditional expectation. In crises people resort to the core stuff in their heads. That's why people's accents come out more when they're mad, for example. If you're raised your whole life with the message 'men must protect' and 'women must be protected' then even with all the layers ontop of supposed equality you're still going to revert to that in a …

One of the problems with looking to public figures for guidance is they can't afford to actually be helpful. Their entire careers are built around placating the masses.

This is rhetoric. Trying to respond to it with reason doesn't work well on its own. We should turn to preponderance of evidence to back our own position but meet rhetoric with our own rhetoric. I'm not great at coming up with my own rhetoric, but something like "a female victim is a tragedy but a male victim is a statistic." Some evidence is itself already very persuasive. For example, people consistently rate men's safety as less important than women's emotions. To give a rational response to t…

Nope, that applies to tons of other men. That point about sexual orientation, for example, is evidence-based. Women are statistically faar less accepting of bisexual men than men are of bisexual women. I can grab the study in a bit if anyone wants it.

Depending on your region, police records may be available to you.

Anecdotes prove that something happened at least once. Anecdotes are also unfortunately more convincing than studies, so are helpful to pair with studies for effective dissemination.

a “straight” guy somehow exists while being attracted to fem guys. No you’re not “heteroflexible” you’re just closeted bi I'm attracted to feminine traits and strongly repulsed by masculine traits. I find women, trans women, and (some) femboys attractive. I do not find men who are just generally effeminate attractive at all. I'm very sexually/romantically open and curious and despite that I've never had any sexual contact with a man, and the idea of that repulses me. Yet I find myself often wish…

While you do have control over yourself that doesn't make systemic issues any less unfair. We should be frustrated and bothered by systemic issues and criticize them. The system can be changed with teamwork.

On the bright side, at least the original post has a lot more egalitarian upvoting.

'Made to penetrate' Those men were raped. Bizarre wording. Also men can be raped in other ways than being made to penetrate (reproductive rape, other orifices), so the total statistic for male rape victims is higher than this. It's also missing 'attempted'.

Did OP delete it or mods? I read that too. It had at least 16,000 upvoted when I saw it. There are websites that automatically record posts in case of deletion like this. Internet Archive is one of them but there are some that are Reddit-specific.

This is so well researched that it's kind of ridiculous that it's just a Reddit comment. You should make some kind of standalone media to spread this stuff - Youtube videos or something.
