Do you guys ever look at where the ex is now and feel bad?In short, no. She left me and the boys (6&4 at the time) because she felt like she would be happier. 3 years later, I’m dating someone who CHOOSES to be with me and my kids. I received a very nice promotion at work, and I’m finally getting back into the gym regularly. I have since built a great relationship with my sons through therapy and counseling. Genuinely I have found happiness and peace in my life. So, we coparent and talk about the kids and that’s about the extent of it. I really wish he… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/09/25 12:18 PM

February 9, 2022. Single Father. Divorced. We can talk about the kids. Keeping the conversation extremely sharp, to the point. She doesn’t care about anything I have to say, so I have learned to just answer the question and keep it about the kids. It’s really hard and something you can only learn through really focusing on it in conversation. Eventually it gets easier. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/25 03:03 AM
Insight into the switchShe grew cold because she found a new person. As time has grown, she has taught me that if women want to be with a man, she will be. If they find someone else, they’ll grow cold and move on. All we can do as men is know our worth in the relationship and find someone who appreciates our value! | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/01/25 10:40 PM
How you guys fucked up in your marriages?I wanted to provide for her. So I dove more into my work and got promoted very quickly. She felt like I was choosing work over her. Which then led to the “he must be cheating” which then I started not talking about my feelings since I wasn’t cheating but I was always being interrogated. I never made her feel like I valued her friendship, company, and worth. Even though I did… she didn’t FEEL like I did. And the most crucial part, we never talked about it. So it festered, until finally after bein… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/02/24 09:10 AM
Ex wife is completely off the railsMy kids are younger,5 & 8. The divorce has really been rough on them. But I took them to see a family therapist. I invited my ex to join, but she said they’d eventually get over it. Man. It was so beneficial! Me and the kids talk way better. When they ask those really tough questions, I know how to answer them without being upset. My ex however still does the same stuff and hasn’t really done anything for her healing. Now she’s dating a new boy toy and I’m seeing all of our past problems resurfa… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/02/24 12:18 PM
What did you gain through divorce?I’ve been going to therapy. Learning myself. But, I don’t yell at my kids, I discipline them fairly without raising my voice. Anyways, this last drop she basically chased them out the house screaming and just creating such chaos. All I could think, “Man, she’s so loud for no reason. How the hell did I live like that?!” And that’s when I realized I’ve gained an inner peace. Not all there yet, but definitely light at the end of the tunnel. Keep looking forward brother and live for the kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/12/23 01:44 AM
Anyone felt the sameI tried, I genuinely did. But when I kept trying only to see my efforts were not acknowledged or reciprocated… I started drawing back. Then she solidified it by saying she hasn’t loved me in over a year and she was checked out. Try, counseling does help, or maybe gives you a different perspective as a couple. But once one person is checked out. It’s no reason for the other to be having false hope. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/06/23 02:10 AM
Signs Marriage is OverI made a calendar for 6 months before I deployed. In those 6 months before deployment, we held hands once and she never asked how my day went or anything small like that. When I was deployed, I never got a care package, and once a week I was emailed pictures of our children with no explanations just pictures, even though I asked multiple times to send me updates on the kids. Whenever I start to feel lonely, and miss her, I look at that calendar. I’m in a better place now, and I hope you will be … | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/06/23 11:17 AM
