1	Going From High school to Trade school? I'm not going to say anything is future proof. Look at what 3d printing has done in the last 10 years, from nothing to nothing-is-impossible. That said, efficiency and speed of a CNC is going to beat 3D printing for a long time. You 3D print for prototypes and short runs, CNC for production. I can't directly comment on the oil industry but everything I've heard says expect tough working conditions and brutal hours. /u/putsch80 doesn't paint a rosy picture either. I work in blue collar manufacturing, went to a 2 year trade school for general manufacturing and electronics. I would 100% recommend looking in CNC machining. I'm someone who has been the BB all my life but has hovered on the fringe of alpha, not quite putting it all together, or having a phrase for what alpha was.
